The location and the space. This hotel is so close to London City Airport. Transport into London is excellent. It’s my third time staying here and we were rewarded with a room upgrade and a welcome drink for our loyalty. The staff are really nice.
The toilet in a separate room, within the room. It’s a small, dark tiny space and would be much better being part of the en-suite shower room. The walls of the toilet room had some nasty looking splash’s also and needs a coat of paint. We asked for a bath mat at reception as the shower is extremely slippy and they said they would sort it, but it never appeared. There is a sticker on the mirror saying to be careful in the shower as it’s slippy and to ask at reception for a mat but obviously the message wasn’t passed on.

We got a very nice surprise at our arrival, we were upgraded to en executive room The room is spacious and clean Tube station is accessible (5min walk) and very safe luggage storage service was very helpful
Breakfast was desappointing, there was no coffee in the coffee machines, no large choice of food in the buffet but since it’s free for kids, it remains interesting though Before our arrival , staff was not answering my questions in emails I sent them regarding the transport to take to get to the hotel and instead they sent me emails to suggest an upgrade for my stay and to push their products

Myself and a few of my friends stayed here for MCM Comic Con this weekend, and the service and experience I've had has been nothing short of fantastic. The room was large, with a queen bed, window that looked out over the ExCel and courtyard for a really nice view, a walk in shower and plenty of storage space. I booked a standard suite, but was upgraded to an executive suite which only added to how amazing the experience was. To top it off, every member of staff went completely above and beyond what I would expect. Firstly, we were at the bar both Saturday and Sunday night and towards the end a security guard came around to start moving people on. He was so lovely and professional in his approach, and felt like he was very friendly with myself and the other guests so there was no drama in getting everyone sorted. Another staff member at the door on Sunday night even offered me shoes so I could go and say bye to my friend coz I only went down in socks!! But mainly, I wanted to give a huge shout-out to Emmanuella (I hope I've spelt her name correctly!) as she was one of, if not THE, most helpful and kind member of staff I've ever come across in hospitality. When we first arrived she saw us coming in with bags and immediately offered to stow them for us, then offered to check when our rooms would be ready and it turned out it was going to be 5 hours sooner then we expected. As we were attending the comic con, we were also dressing up, and she took the time to tell myself that I looked really good which was also not something she had to say, but means a lot that she did. Im so grateful to the staff of the Novotel for the weekend I've had, and I will definitely be staying again.
The only negative was something currently out of the hotel's control but I would appreciate it if this could be changed. I arrived for the convention that weekend, and when I went to park in the hotel car park, it was full. The reason I want this to be amended somehow is I had to then park elsewhere and move my car back over in the evening, at which point there were a lot of spaces. It seems as though people were parking there that were not staying at the hotel, and only parked there as it was close to the venue. It would be good if there was some sort of system to only be able to park there if you had a room booked or something to avoid this inconvenience in the future.

I recently had a delightful stay at the Novotel Hotel near London ExCeL. The hotel’s prime location is perfect for anyone attending events or conferences at the ExCeL, as it’s just a short walk away. Additionally, it’s well-connected to public transport, making it easy to explore central London. The room was spacious, and equipped with all the modern amenities I needed, including a comfortable bed and a fantastic view of the docklands. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, always ready to assist with any request. The check-in process was seamless, and the overall atmosphere of the hotel was warm and inviting. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of both hot and cold options, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. If you’re seeking convenience, comfort, and excellent service in the London Docklands area, I highly recommend Novotel London ExCeL. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit to London!

They staff were super friendly and attentive, when my mum mentioned it was my birthday the restaurant staff brought me out a free desert with a candle and sang me happy birthday. Fouziha checked us in and out and was very helpful with all our questions and needs. The staff all went above and beyond to make our stay a positive experience and the location was the perfect distance to a cute pub for dinner and the friends experience we were visiting the next day. The breakfast was amazing, there was plenty of choice even for picky eaters and it was all hot and tasty. The room was warm and cozy and we were able to watch telly to wind down also. Definitely recommend this hotel, will be visiting again!
There were a few sockets which had usb connections but no usb-c connections which I needed to charge my phone without a plug and only 2 actual plug sockets in the room which weren’t near the bed. That’s my only complaint (has been expressed to the manager) otherwise it was an absolutely smashing stay and I’m so glad I booked this for my birthday.

Location, right next door to ExCel The room was spacious & clean. We were pleasantly surprised by a fridge in room, complimentary toiletries & plenty of plugs/USB slots in appropriate places. Staff were friendly. We had previously arranged to drop our bags at reception before attending ExCel but the front desk agent checked and our room was ready, so we were able to check in, again the pleasant surprise. Breakfast was simple but adequate and the stations were all clean. I've stayed in more expensive hotels and been far less impressed. Really enjoyed our stay.
The room was a bit too warm. If we're were staying longer I would have discussed this with the team but I didn't report it. I personally didn't like the toilet being separate from the shower room, without a hand basin in the toilet room. My daughter was mortified when her friend reported that she could see her through the glass shower room door.

My room was upgraded to what I believe was a "Queen's room". This included a spacious washroom with a shower, as well as plenty of closet space, a small desk area, and the addition of a sofa bed. It was clean, and generally comfortable and the addition of a mini fridge and lockable safe for valuables was especially nice to see. The incredibly close location to the ExCel Centre was also greatly appreciated, with it practically being right on the doorstep!
While there appeared to be an air conditioning dial, there were no instructions on how it worked, and despite having it presumably on and set to the coldest setting, the room still became a little uncomfortably warm even with the window opened as wide as it could be. Had the room been a little cooler with the air conditioning, my stay would have been extremely comfortable with little to no complaints! In terms of cost, while I understand room prices will go up around events such as Comic Con, paying almost £500 for two nights is a little steep, and to have stayed for the full convention weekend of 3 nights would have cost me almost £800, forcing me to find alternative accommodation for one of the nights and meaning I had to travel back and forth quite a distance for the first day or two.

The hotel was lovely.. it was in a great location not far from one of the stations and a few little shops around it as well.. the view right beside the docks was beautiful and the ship hotel that was beside it was lovely to see as well.. the staff were lovely very helpful and friendly.. there was a small fridge in the room which was great to keep a few small bits like milk and drinks.. there were plenty of space in the room that you were not all on top of each other. The shower was amazing.. and the frosted glass was really different but nice the kids enjoyed pressing the button and looking in and out with it.. just had to remember to make sure it was off when using the bathroom.
The only bit that I didn't like was that there wasn't enough plug sockets there was one up beside the TV and one beside the bed.. just found it hard to make sure everything was charged for the next day.

Really close to DLR and tube links, excel and 02-few shops nearby and easy to get to central London. Lovely staff-especially lady who politely told us when breakfast was coming to an end-instead of just saying breakfast was finishing-think she went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed breakfast and didn't feel rushed.... Breakfast was one of the nicest I've had in a long time and lovely choice and view across the dock-would definitely stay again...
nothing I didn't like-even complimentary chew sticks and dog bowls(although I didn't personally use either 🤣

My husband and I travel to the Excel London two times a year for MCM Comiccon. We have tried several of the hotels available around the expo centre, but Novotel is our favourite so far. It has the best location, literally at the entrance of Excel, the most amazing view, you can 'observe' all the amazing cosplays if you have the chance, try to get a room with a window looking at the expo. :) We have been upgraded to an Executive room this time, which has been a wonderful surprise. The room was nice and comfy and our tiny pet doggo was able to enjoy the peace and quiet of it despite the ongoing event and huge amount of guests at the hotel. The pet fee is 15 GBP per day if I remember it correctly, and we knew of it beforehand, but at the same time, there is no damage deposit, which makes it justifiable. Room has a Nescafe machine, with normal and decaf coffee, but there is also a kettle, tea and 3-in-1 nescafe, milk and bottled water in the minifridge. The bathroom has good pressure with the thermostatic shower, and you can find complimentary hygiene packets, like toothbrushes, toothpaste, nail file, shaving kit etc. There is a smaller magnifying mirror next to the bigger one to help with make up application. In the closet you can find bathrobes and slippers too. We have arrived by car, parking is perfect, 25 GBP per day, you can just drive in to the car park, find a spot and leave your vehicle for the time being, having a peace of mind. Do not forget to keep your parking ticket/bill on you in case you'd like to go back to your car for something, because the carpark can only be entered after scanning the QR code on the slip! There is a machine right next to the door, which you can use to pay at before leaving the place. Around friday and saturday of comiccon, the evenings can get kind of busy because all the people are gathering at the bar/lounge to have fun and party (respect for the security at the entrance for trying to keep the order). :)
