The room was incredible, I could have happily lived in there! The quality of decor, staff, bedding and bathroom was fantastic.

The one thing that let it down was the noise. my room was right next to the laundry and it was literally the loudest spin cycle. The for some reason someone started to clean the hall hoovering at 9:15pm which was so loud I couldn’t hear the TV…. it’s an old building so I know it’s tricky to soundproof but this was definitely louder than any other hotel I’ve stayed in. I mentioned it to the staff on reception a couple of times (which is quite unlike me!)

Practically perfect in every way! This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way! From the location, to the friendliness of the staff, the quality of everything in the room - this is definitely the place to stay. The suite was so spacious - and it literally cost pennies more than a standard room. Don't think I've ever sat on such a huge sofa! Everything had a quality feel to it, crockery, cutlery, products in the bathroom, right down to the cocktail set and glasses. Lovely little extras, like a gift left on your door on Christmas Day. To the drinks vouchers given by the lovely Hannah, on check-in, when I mentioned that my day had all gone wrong. This truly is a hidden gem in central Manchester, and considering the location, it was incredibly quiet.

2 very small quibbles. I found the lighting in the rooms to be very dim. No tea towels or wash cloths in the kitchen - a really tiny detail, easily remedied.

The staff here were amazing. They were attentive, dedicated and kind. The room that I was allocated originally was superb. The natural light was great, the divisions/layout of the rooms was good, the facilities were good. I enjoyed being so close to the sights of Manchester. The hotel had good facilities e.g. gym and very modern forward thinking. The Wi-Fi was excellent too.

I had to move from the original allocated room to another room due to the outside noise at night. Unfortunately, being so close to a vibrant area, the noise went throughout the night and into early morning impacting on my sleep. Whether this could be resolved by another layer of glazing- understandably it is a listed building. The second apartment could also do with more main lighting just in the living room.

The aesthetic of the building and room is very nice. The location right beside the village is fantastic. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. They accommodated some special requests with ease, and they were super nice to just chat with as people. The room was also very nice and included a kitchen with all required cooking materials to prepare meals. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was very fine. There is also a gym, and it has a bench and straight bar, so you can actually do a serious workout while you are there. This is really rare and nice. There is also a good reception area with a bar and working spaces that is cozy and good for some computer work. It's such a great spot for a very reasonable price. I won't stay anywhere except here next time I am in Manchester.

The design of the room, super modern, all appliances in great state and staff really fast and resolutive even with maintenance issues

I signed up to an underground studio, knowing this, I didn’t expect the best ventilation however, it didn’t have much or any ventilation at all. We cooked in the morning some eggs and toast and when we came back in the afternoon, even leaving the extractor fan on, it still smelled like the food we cooked.. aaand; I don’t know if there was an option to ask for a chair, but we didn’t have any chairs in the room.. the only thing lacking.. the rest was really good

Absolutely everything. Staff were amazing, room was far enough away that I didn't feel surrounded by other guests but was easy to find even after I came back from my night out. Staff were very understanding when we had to check out a day early due to a family emergency. Absolutely nothing wrong with the property at all, entirely just a family emergency that couldn't wait until check out.

There was nothing I didn't like about the property. I felt safe and comfortable, and there weren't the usual disturbances you get with some accommodations on booking.com. The surroundings were civilised, the guests in the bar and lounge area weren't overly loud and over all the property was just lovely. Would definitely stay again.

Reception is open 24 hours with a bar area, coffee house and lots of seating. For a friend group (or I would imagine a family) it is really nice to have a studio with that shared space to hang out in and a basic kitchen (very well stocked). The bedrooms were really spacious too so plenty of room for bags. All the staff we interacted with were really helpful and friendly. We got great advice on places to go to eat and drink. Wifi and tv worked, we didn't use the hob/microwave but the shower was nice and hot. Unexpectedly a duplex! Going upstairs to bed in a hotel is a novelty (and a pleasant one)

No extractor fan in the bathroom so it got a bit foggy and there was no good bright light in there either which made managing contact lenses a bit tricky. The comms from Booking.com were a bit fiddly. I had to query them direct with the property and it was all resolved but the booking.com emails in the last couple of days before booking were confusing.

This was my second stay at Whitworth Locke - the location is great, you’re close to everything but it’s quiet, the property is beautiful, and the staff are lovely. The cafe and bar are also great!

The lighting in the rooms is not good, especially in winter (my last stay was in May and it wasn’t as much of an issue). Especially in the bathroom and the full length mirror, there is only a light on one side which makes it very hard to properly do hair and makeup! I wish the hotel would just get some LED strips to stick on the mirrors and make it better, it would make such a huge difference.

The staff were super friendly and gave my wife a free bottle of prosecco when they found out it was her birthday. The reception / bar area looked amazing, and our apartment was very stylish, although a little cramped. The appliances in the kitchenette were very high quality, and the furniture was really nice (although the couch was a bit uncomfortable).

Whilst it was lovely overall, I think the price was a little high. The on-site coffee shop was also very expensive for breakfast. The food was reat nice, just overpriced. The lighting in the room was nice, but as there was no 'big light' it was hard to see some of the areas as a lot of the furniture was black. Also the dining table space was very cramped, and the living room door opened into that space and kept knocking into the glass table (we were worried about damaging it). Lastly, the windows weren't very sound proof. As it was in the city centre near the gay village, it was quite loud outside, so better soundproofing on the windows would have been really good.

We loved our stay at Whitworth Locke over the weekend! I had it booked for my friend hen-do and she loved it! The staff were all so kind, Amber checked us in and she was so sweet. The interior is gorgeous and we had a sneak peek at the menu and it sounded delicious. The room was clean and well-maintained. And was within walking distance of places across the city.

The only complaint was that we could hear the plumbing/water works, I think because we were in an underground studio so the pipes were directly above our heads in the room. We didn't mind it as it was only one night and we could sleep through it okay but if you were a light sleeper or don't want to be able to hear that, I wouldn't advise booking an underground suite.
