Charming little hotel in Summertown, just a short bus ride from Oxford city centre (the buses you can just tap on with a credit card which is very handy!) with some excellent (even starred) restaurants in the area, plus some cheaper ones, plus a good supermarket and other shops just up the road from the hotel. So, a very nice area to stay in and away from tourist hustle and bustle. We had a twin room with a clean, spacious modern bathroom, and the room itself was very nicely furnished and decorated, with comfortable beds with good linen etc. Friendly and helpful staff, the reception areas were decorated with good taste and quirky interesting pieces, breakfast in the large conservatory (with views of the garden) was good, lots of fresh fruit and a hot English breakfast etc, and only one thing - probably time to get one of those auto-coffee machine where guests can press an option and make a cappuccino or espresso etc. Lots of hotels have them now in their breakfast areas. Other than that one small thing (I'm a coffee person) it was a charming hotel and I would very happily stay at again if visiting Oxford.

A lovely spacious double room overlooking the attractive back garden. Very comfortable bed and bedding, excellent lighting and a good shower. Everything we could need including hairdryer, use of iron, overhead fan, tea and coffee, fridge, plenty of sockets, good wifi, lots of storage space and a nice TV. The staff were helpful. The hotel has a unique style and a beautiful garden with lots of seats and a little waterlily pool. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel for short trips into Oxford and a spacious car park. An excellent experience and we look forward to our next stay.

We spent three nights here. Location great, just outside the city centre with excellent bus service outside the front door. Staff were amazing, couldn’t do enough for you. Wonderful aesthetic to the property, a complete one off, everyday you find something new to marvel at. Gorgeous garden, perfect for a cup of tea after breakfast. Breakfast itself was delicious and very reasonable considering the size of the spread, served in a beautiful setting. With Oxford being quite expensive for accommodation, The Galaxie is the perfect balance between comfortable luxury and price. Look forward to returning.
Missing a few amenities in the room. Hand wash/shower gel/bathroom bin. Nothing major and I’m sure if we had asked it would have been sorted. More of an oversight than fault.

The decor and atmosphere was lovely as was the garden and conservatory where breakfast was served. Location with car parking was perfect for us. Bed was comfortable and shower worked well. I liked that the windows opened.
Room was too warm. Although we slept with window open, still not possible to be under bed clothes. Needs at least a fan in summer. There was nowhere to hang any clothes. A couple of hooks on or behind the door (and in the bathroom) would be really useful. Most people travel with one thing that needs hanging rather than going in a drawer.

Cosy environment with friendly reception. Room was clean and had a an interesting style mix between Victorian, but modern decoradtion. Well illuminated bathroom. Bed was comfortable, but a bit too soft for my personal preference.
The room was a bit noisy, you could hear when cars would pass by, people in the corridor and other rooms. The shower floor and shower head need some improvements. The shower floor was feeling a bit awkward, like as it was getting air inside and feeling stuffed. And the showers head needed to have lime scale removed.

Nice little hotel just a short bus ride (or a 30 min or so walk) from the centre of the beautiful city of Oxford. The whole place has a quirky, attractive decor. Room was a tad small, but perfectly fine. Bed was super comfortable. Bathroom was fine. Can't comment on the breakfast as I didn't partake, but it certainly smelled great!
When I was there (August 2024), the place was having some fairly major renovations, which meant that the outside didn't look too great. But hopefully it will look amazing when finished. The room was quite hot but, to be fair, that is a common issue with all hotels in the summer in the UK!

A luxurious and excellently decorated hotel. Our double room was wonderful, very comfortable and top spec. We saw older reviews note how hot the rooms are and how noisy. Our experience was the opposite as our room was at the back and very quiet. Owners have clearly listened to their guests as a large ceiling fan was installed. The hotel is on a main road so cannot help but be noisy.at times, but we found at night (on the way back from a lovely local pub!) the traffic was quiet for a main road into the city centre. The hotel was in an excellent location to explore the city. Parking in the city centre is very limited. We parked our car in the hotel's large carpark foer our entire stay and used the convenient and plentiful local buses. A bus stop was directly outside the hotel with a 15 minute journey into the city centre or a 40 minute walk if preferred. The Summertown area of Oxford that the hotel is situated in also has a lot of shops and restaurants to offer, recommended by the hotel staff. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel manager/owners could not have been more helpful with guiding us on the local area, where to eat, areas of interest and how to get there. The buffet style breakfast included in the room price was a good selection and delicious and served in the very pretty conservatory. The hotel team ensured coffee and tea and food was plentiful. We had booked some walking tours of the city and colleges which were excellent, but by chance had booked our break during Oxford's 'Open Doors' weekend (selected colleges and buildings were open to the public with free entry). Fascinating and highly recommended! Oxford is a beautiful city which we will be revisiting again very soon. When we do we will definitely book our stay at The Galaxie.
Could not find any fault.

Loved the unique decoration, the cute rooms, coffee and tea service, the great breakfast in the solarium and the friendly and helpful staff.
There was some construction going on during our stay, and while this didn’t interfere with our stay, it meant that a seal in our bathroom shower wasn’t installed, which meant that the entire bathroom floor flooded every time we used the shower. The staff was incredibly helpful in making sure we had enough towels and could take care of the issue, but it was a bit of a pain to swap out all of our towels every time we used the shower.

The interior of the hotel was very quirky and cosy and the room was bright and larger than we expected a small double room to be. The bed was extremely comfortable and there were plenty plug sockets in useful locations all around the room. The bathroom had a large walk in shower which looked like nothing special but was powerful and more than adequate. We didn’t notice until we’re checking out but the bathroom also had a heated floor which could be turned on. Overall it was very comfy and quiet.
The hotel is about half an hour walk from the centre of town, but we knew this before booking and we like to stay a bit out of town in a quieter location. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel that takes you straight into town.

The room was small but they had made enough of the space for us to be comfortable for two nights. The bathroom was great, enough space and places to put our things. The decor of the hotel was charming and made it feel unique, some great little details throughout. The location is excellent for getting in and out of Oxford. Breakfast was very good, tasty and plentiful.
The stay was for my husband's milestone birthday. Despite noting this in my correspondence, which staff read and replied to, I was disappointed that the hotel did not acknowledge it in any way during our stay. I had read in other reviews that the hotel had done something for other guests for special occasions, so I felt let down. The room was very warm, and it was difficult to let air in through the window shutters without also letting in the light.
