Staf is excellent. Super friendly and forthcomming. The location is absolutely wonderful, easy to reach and in walking distance to the centre. With the zero emission zone extending, this is absolutely an asset to travellers. The bar is good too, there is a lounge, there is restaurant which service dinner and an excellent breakfast for all tastes. Bar food is available all day round. Rooms are fully equipped and very clean indeed.
Nothing really. People like us (from the continent) need to familiarize ourselves with the taps and toilet operating system, but that adds to the experience.

Lovely staff. Great location ... 15 minutes walk to centre or 5 minutes on bus, which run regularly and bus stop pretty much outside the hotel. Still £2 per trip. Decent breakfast choice.
We were in Room 44 on ground floor, which is lovely, but right opposite laundry room and we were woken 1st morning early by lots of chatter and clatter in the corridor from the staff. We opened the door to investigate and got an apology, but probably an idea for the hotel to change the start time of staff when residents are clearly still in bed, or perhaps even change the location of the laundry.

Staff were friendly and attentive, the bar area was pleasant, the bed was large and comfortable and the hotel was quiet. Parking was near the entrance and there were ample spaces on the evening we stayed.
The bathroom was a little tired. The tea/coffee/kettle was arranged on a tray in a low drawer and to remove the tray I had to tip the drawers forward to get a better angle, which was odd. We paid £140 for a Monday night outside of holiday time, arrived late and left at 6:30am. Oxford is an expensive destination for accommodation but if you need to stay in walking distance of town you have to pay a higher cost.

We chose this hotel because it was within 20 mins walk from the centre of Oxford and the theatre we had tickets for in the evening and because it had parking for our car. It turned out to have a bus stop right outside too and it was only 3 stops to the centre. Good for tired legs and late nights. The room was very clean and the bathroom modern. It had all toiletries needed and the bedroom had tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel had a large lunch event each day we were there, but we were still able to have refreshments and a simple and tasty bar snack when we arrived. All in all, a good choice for our short visit to a city we hadn't explored before.
The bed was a little hard for me, but my husband found it just right. There didn't seem to be a lift as it was in an old house, so we had 4 short sets of stairs to climb to our 1st floor room. If you have mobility problems, ask for a ground floor room. The breakfast buffet was a little sparce but the cooked breakfast brought to the table was very nice and you could ask for a wide election of things.

Proximity to Kellogg College was ideal. The room was a good size, just big enough to be comfortable. The restaurant and bar served us well. We did not avail ourselves of the outdoor patio, unfortunately, but it looked very pleasant and a nice place to have a drink and relax. There was also a nice lounge that we also never used, but it would have been a good alternative to the outdoor patio in poor weather.
The hotel is about a mile walk from the center of Oxford where most of the older colleges are clustered, so one has to trade the convenience of the hotel to driving there with the distance from downtown.

It's a rare delight for a room to have an outside balcony you can actually walk onto. A very fancy place, and it's clear by the architecture that there's a fair bit of history to this building. You could spend a lot more time in this hotel than I ended up doing, just for the sheer space there is for function rooms, bars, meeting rooms and in-house restaurant, etc. Receptionists were very friendly and nice. Location was key in this booking, as it was within walking distance of an event I attended that day. It was very good for that. This might be the first time I've been to a hotel that offers breakfast made to order. I felt very well looked after that morning.
It was quite a lot for a single bed, compared to other hotel options. Though the bed was comfy, the room and en-suite did feel a bit too small for me. The only option I had to quench my thirst during my sleep (without walking all the way to the reception bar to ask for a glass of tap water) was a small glass bottle of fancy sparkling water on the desk. Not ideal. It wasn't entirely clear to me - though it might've been on me - that check-in wasn't until 16:00, so there were a few walks back and forth from the event and an instance where I was told to leave my baggage by the staircase at reception. How trusting they are.

I loved everything about this hotel and the location into downtown Oxford was very easy. You could either walk about 20 minutes or take a 10 minute bus right outside the hotel. With a little bit of walking a bus to the train station was easily accessible. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel at home and helped with my heavy baggage after traveling for 3 1/2 weeks in Europe my baggages were definitely on the heavy side so I completely appreciated it. I was even able to stow my luggage so I could explore the town on my check out day. The beds were comfortable. It was hot but the hotel provided a individual fan and the balcony door/windows opened up for fresh air when the weather cooled down.
I have no real complaints expect I had hoped that the breakfast attendants were a bit more aware of who sat down as I had to wait for a while to order and I feel the prices were a bit high for what was offered but the choices were very good tasting.

15 minute walk into central Oxford, and there was a lovely restaurant called Gees only 5 mins walk away, and a great late night shop across the road. The hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Parking also great - unusual to find free parking in Oxford. Excellent breakfast. The hotel had character and an old fashioned charm.
The room claimed to be 212 square foot - they must have included the bathroom because it wasn't spacious and £180 seemed a lot for the size. No lift, tricky if you're on the third floor with heavy bags.

I've stayed at this hotel a few times but usually have a single room in a different part of the hotel, this time I had a double room in the older part as all the singles were booked up and it was well worth the extra money - the room was lovely - interesting layout on 2 levels and beautifully decorated and furnished. I like the Cotswold Lodge because it has a free car park which is very useful when I'm picking my son up from university or taking him back as we need to transport all his belongings every term. Also it is situated in North Oxford which is a lovely peaceful area once you get off the main road so it's nice for a walk in the evening and feels very safe. The breakfasts are also really good - plenty of choice and the smashed avocado with poached egg, which is my favourite, is really delicious.
The only thing in the whole hotel that I don't like is their pillows - they are really hard and uncomfortable even in the more expensive room.

Lovely decor, old fashioned but not fuddy duddy. Nice to look out through big windows at green trees. I loved the selection of jam at breakfst, including Oxford marmelade. Staff were very nice and helpful.
Last time I stayed here breakfast was included in the price. I was somewhat taken aback to find it was an extra this time. It was also a bit annoying that other guests consistently took over the prettiest public lounge for private meetings. Can't you find them another room?
