We stayed in the Wychwood room and we were pleased with the character and comfort of the room. The pub is in a quiet and beautiful village and the bar is a beautiful environment to enjoy a drink, We were not disturbed by having the bar below our room as the pub was quiet by 10.30pm. The pub offers an excellent choice of high quality meals.

This did not negatively impact on our stay but someone booking a room above the pub need to be aware the staircase is a little narrow and winding. The heating seemed to come on and off at random times but we were told they were looking into the matter.

This pub was a wonderful find. Location spot on for what we needed - central but slightly off the beaten track in a pretty village. The decor in the room was lovely and bed super comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, as was supper. We were in the attic and whilst we loved the charm (took me back to my childhood attic bedroom, swinging from the beams when bored!), we had to remember to duck - do check when booking, if you are super tall, or have mobility issues which room you are in. A real gem and hope to come back!

The wi-fi is subpar - although it showed full bars, it was far from that and barely worked in the room - a little tricky when trying to manage out of hours work and with little mobile coverage too. I think it could be improved!

We booked two nights at the Royal Oak. This beautiful 17th Century Pub was in the heart of the picturesque village of Ramsden. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Menus were varied with some traditional and some more innovative dishes. Our favourite breakfast was the vegetarian full with "haggis" (even though we are not veggies!). We dined at the pub both evenings - Sunday roast was amazing and we decided that we wanted to eat there again the following night. The food is locally sourced, fresh and home made. We really liked the layout of the pub with the original cosy bar area at the front and a bright spacious oak and glass conservatory at the rear leading out to a beautiful garden courtyard where we chose to sit and eat breakfast. There is also a 'secret' walled garden if you want to sit somewhere really quiet! Our room was tastefully furnished, cosy, clean and quiet, with en suite (great shower). Our big bed was really comfy and we had a good night's sleep. Kettle, Tea, coffee & biscuits all provided. A really nice touch was a small decanter of Port and two glasses left in our room, to round the evening off ! We will be returning to this pub for another short break as soon as we can.

We had to go home! We would have liked to stay a bit longer............There was absolutely nothing we didn't like about this place.

We stayed during the school holiday when visiting Cotswolds. The place is cosy and full of character. Kids absolutely loved their bunk beds and the ‘stables’ we stayed in are spacious enough for a family of four and very cosy. I like their eco touch- the toiletries and not only vegan and cruelty free but also local and of good quality. The bottled still water is replenished daily which is also unusual and such a lovely touch. The bedroom bin is fitted with a supermarket carrier bag which again I’m guessing is intentional and contributing to reduction in waste. Their garden is lovely and full of herbs. What’s absolutely the best about this place is their spectacular breakfast which is one of the best we have ever had. The breakfast waitresses were lovely. The dinner was also good. We had an issue with accommodation and the response I received from Iesha totally exceeded my expectations. Mistakes happen everywhere and it’s just heartwarming to see the staff going above and beyond to put the things right for the guest. Thank you for that Iesha.

The Royal Oak is a diamond among pub gems. The room was clean and plenty big enough, the bed very comfortable, the shower excellent. Its location was ideal for us, visiting Blenheim for the Game Fair. We ate in the first evening of a good choice menu and the food was excellent, plenty of it and all very tasty. There was a wide choice of wines and a selection of beers. The option to dine indoors or outside is ideal for the differing temperatures on our two days there. All staff were obliging, polite and extremely pleasant. It was absolutely superb

We booked a stay at The Royal Oak as a last minute getaway and we were so impressed with the attic room! It was lovely to stay in such a quirky, old place. It has been renovated really well and we loved all the old original features of the room. The extra welcoming touch of a little carafe of port was lovely too! We had a meal in the hotel restaurant in the evening and breakfast in the morning, both of which were delicious. We loved the way the bar was decorated with dried hops. We would love to stay again!

Maybe one more vegetarian option on the main menu would be good. There was a specials menu so I was able to choose something really lovely from that but the other main menu option was a falafel burger which wasn't as exciting sounding as the rest of the non-vegetarian mains.

Full of character inn with superb food and great breakfast menu. Very friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble. We had a first floor room at the back, which was very comfortable and well equipped. En suite with a double size rainfall shower and plenty of hot water. Fantastic location for exploring the Cotswolds.

A lot of door banging on our second night - people leaving and staff accessing the cellar. This didn't finish until after 11.45pm and kept us awake.

All the staff were pleasant, helpful and very welcoming; they were clearly keen to make their guests welcome. The accommodation is a very old building in a pretty village about 4 miles from the interesting town of Witney which has many shops, restaurants, a cinema etc and some tourist attractions. It is also fairly easy to access other Cotswold attractions by car. The room had a pleasant rustic feel to it, the bed was comfortable and there were plenty of drawers for storage. Hanging space was provided in the bathroom. The shower was exceptionally good and quality shower gel, shampoo etc were provided. Breakfast was provided over a wide time period. The restaurant and bar were available all days at reasonable hours. Cooked meal portion sizes were generous and the menu had many options.

The room would have benefited from better lighting. The room was of reasonable size but seemed crowded by provision of unnecessary cushions. Some of the furniture and the floor around was very dusty. The bathroom could have been improved with minor changes such as a slimmer cabinet or just a mirror over the sink, and a toilet roll holder rather than using the cistern top. The room and bathroom felt tired and could be smartened up without losing their rustic charm. The breakfast could be improved by a better choice of uncooked items eg better cereals. Despite these comments and suggestions, we enjoyed our stay.

The room was lovely. We were in the Attic and everything was ideal and comfortable. The bar and restaurant area were very welcoming and comfortable too.

We felt the menu was a little disappointing. Nice quality food but limited choice and just not what I was expecting. My ideal would have been choices not so basic - something a bit more special. However, I do appreciate it is very difficult to try and please everyone. Basically, I feel the menu did not reflect the quality of the Royal Oak. The standard of the cooking was high, it just felt the menu choices weren't quite right.

A stylish and classic atmosphere in a unique accommodation remodeled from a traditional house. The warm and hearty breakfast cooked by me was excellent, and I will definitely stay again when I visit the UK again. It was a happy experience to feel the traditional British atmosphere in the quiet morning neighborhood atmosphere and the atmosphere of the accommodation.

The stairs to the second floor are narrow. However, I am very grateful that they were willing to change to a room on the first floor considering my situation with two suitcases.
