Hotel was lovely-loved its history. Room was very comfortable. Location was nice-easy to walk most places that we went. Breakfast was plentiful-good selection of breakfast items. Staff were very nice but front desk staff could have been more informed about arranging taxis etc.

Dislike the new trend of no top sheet on the beds. Comforter was nice but too hot at times for the temperature. A top sheet would have been nice to use in place of comforter, but beds were very comfortable. Bathroom needs more hanging space for towels to dry. Wifi did not reach our room which was very disappointing and inconvenient-need to add a signal booster.

We have stayed at the Red Lion Hotel a few times before, but always in the summer. This stay was at the start of December. The staff had decorated the hotel wonderfully. Lots of Christmas trees and lights but sympathetic to the old charm of the building. Even though our stay was in the middle of storm Darragh and the staff probably had a nightmare trying to get to work , they were all so happy and friendly. Very impressed.

We had a wonderful time. Only thing maybe would be to put more tea/coffee/milk sachets in the room for first night. That is our personal preference though as we like hot drinks. They were readily topped up next day when housekeeping came around

Almost everything about the hotel was good. Excellent location for the town centre and nice rooms We didn't eat in the hotel but there is a nice courtyard for drinks. Have stayed here previously and would recommend to others.

Unfortunately the hotel was hosting a teenage "prom dance" the evening we stayed. This took place right in the courtyard below our window and kept us awake. The music stopped fairly early (11pm) but people did not disperse immediately. To be clear there was no bad behaviour at all but prior notification and the opportunity to change rooms to the back of the hotel would have been appreciated.

The room was clean, large, warm & furnished well. The bathroom was clean & well stocked with toiletries & towels. The buffet breakfast was excellent & the staff so friendly & informative about the history of the Red Lion. Angel was really good, she told us about the ghosts etc. Very interesting young lady! We had really good sleeps which is surprising as the hotel is right in the middle of town, we expected to hear some street noise but no, it was lovely & quiet!

The car parks filled up quickly especially Brown Street car park at the rear of the hotel. We had to walk half a mile to another car park but the 24 hour pass was accepted at all the Council car parks except George Street.

The location is very convenient - right in the city center - so even more a plus that it has parking facilities! The charme of this lovely 6- or 700 yrs old building with its labyrinthine stairways and corridors is engaging, but might make you curse an excess of baggage in need to be hauled about - but then that´s part of the fun...! A drink or snack in the beautiful courtyard absolutely makes up for the effort. A nice bar and the good food in the friendly restaurant add to a pleasant experience.

Our room was a bit noisy, as the high-decibel waste pick-up in the mornings took place right below our window...

I loved the location. It was quite central, there was a Nandos across the road which me and my friend were excited about even though we ended up dining in the hotel dining room. The parking space was a bonus perk too (only £15 for the night) and gave me good peace of mind. The hotel is very picturesque, especially the courtyard. The room was very big and the bed was comfortable. The staff were lovely and the food was amazing 🤩

It was a little bit dated but that is to be expected with an older property. It actually made it quite charming. The room itself was really warm but there was a fan in the room which helped keep us cooler. There was some kind of generator sound which kept going off every 15 mins or so. It didn't bother me as i sleep with earplugs in anyways but it might have bothered someone who is a light sleeper.

Decent breakfast offering, although the buffet was only available on day 1. Day 2 and 3 was made on order.

Daily buffet would be better. But the most disappointing issue was that we weren't able to shower on the final day as no hot water, or any water, was available in the shower. The option to use shower in an other room was appreciated but didn't solve the inconvenience, and we decided against it. Also at no point did the WiFi work, despite given a password. All in all the expected standard, given the price, wasn't quite met.

Excellent location near the Cathedral, plenty of character and very helpful and friendly staff. Moved me to another room when I could not get their internet on my phone - they offered, I did not have to ask. Pleasant enough bar and breakfast. Parking onsite is only for those who know how to park - those spaces are tight! But very convenient.

Bed and pillows could have been softer and there was a lot of noise from something that sounded like air conditioning in my room. But this old building has no air conditioning so a bit of a mystery.

Great location. Spacious characterful bedroom which was well- serviced and friendly helpful staff. Christmas Eve diner and Christmas Day lunch were really good.

Background music in the bar was terrible radio station despite it being Christmas. Boxing Day evening buffet was limited and expensive . Disco and DJ came to celebrate Christmas and Boxing Day but the few guests were all of a certain age and did not participate, where a pianist would have been better. Also I got the impression that there was some miscommunication between kitchen staff and reception and times when the restaurant/ kitchen was understaffed.

Lovely hotel, nice room, not luxurious, but very comfortable. Very comfortable bed, great location & a beautiful building. Staff were nice & friendly, but the systems were down. Thankfully I had prepaid. Well located for a walk to the Cathedral.

My room was noisy as it was over some sort of generator & near the binstores which were collected just after 5 am. That happens, the building has to run. There was a load of crazy banging sometime after midnight though, probably 2ish. Sounded like someone trying to get in. That was the only thing that was annoying, otherwise all good. Would definitely stay again.
