The owners, the staff, the locals and the setting really make this place. The garden is really nice and the building itself is in really good shape and has a lot of interesting historical features to take in. We were leaving very early for a motorbike course and a delicious lunch was prepared for us to take with us as we were missing breakfast that morning. We did get to try the breakfast the next day and can confirm it was delicious and made using proper sausages and locally sourced eggs etc. There was a free live band provided on the Sat night and they were excellent. We really enjoyed our stay.

Nothing, I'm eager to come back with my family and hope to send some friends over too. The scenery really is spectacular around these parts.

Friendly hotel in good location. Characterful bar and good food. We stayed for one night and had dinner and breakfast. Well priced food and excellent value breakfast with good coffee (very important to us - strong coffee to start the day!).

They had a boiler issue so restaurant was a little cold. But plug in radiators in bedrooms ensured our rooms were a good temperature. Bathrooms need a little TLC but to be honest that is reflected in the price of the rooms so we were happy.

Great location, friendly staff! Food on evening was delicious! Rooms were a good size! Booked 3 rooms comfy beds in all!

Unfortunately didn’t have breakfast we tried to sort a takeaway option for continental breakfast with member of staff over email and arrival which they said the could sort something, as was getting married, but miscommunication to chef I believe as they said we couldn’t takeaway food we would have to pay to upgrade to cooked breakfast. But other than that great stay

Stunning oldie worldie pub. Loved the decor and old traditional features. Great, friendly staff. A real community feel. Felt like home. And good value.

Really enjoyed staying there, I’m an early riser luckily. There was a lot of noise underneath us from around 7.30 am onwards. This woke me up and I wasn’t able to go back to sleep although my teenage son slept through it . If it had cost more, I would have been a bit miffed by that but I enjoyed listening to the hustle and bustle of a pub.

The staff and guests in the bar were very friendly. The property was clean and and very quiet. We were nice and warm and comfortable in our room. The breakfast (only meal we had) was excellent - huge and good quality. We recommend getting a room with an en suite bathroom

The property is 500 years old and therefore has "character". Don't go expecting a Hilton or Sheraton but somewhere homely and no frills. No actual complaints.

Location was absolutely beautiful, and the property itself is lovely and full of character. Our bed was really comfortable. Husband enjoyed his breakfast, and the breakfast staff were really friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again if in the area.

*We were given confusing information on what we needed to do to get back in after hours, resulting in having to text asking for help to get back in! *No vegan cooked breakfast option. *Getting ready to attend a wedding there wasn't really anywhere to put any toiletries / cosmetics; a small chest of drawers and a mirror on the bedroom wall would have been really useful.

Welcoming staff in a very traditional no frill village pub. Rustic and easy for a family meet up with dog. Food and service were excellent. Very chilled and just what we needed for a meet up with our 3 adults children. Sat in the pub the whole afternoon drinking and playing board games. We absolutely loved it and the old skittles in the stable block was a hit. Would deffo return. Thank you to you all.

Nothing.

Really friendly staff. Sam checked us in early (we arrived at 1pm and he showed us to the room as it was ready!). Really clean and comfortable room - bed was massive! (Room6). The breakfast was massive (if you order the large full English).

Some of the decor was a bit tired - but everything else made up for this. That said we’d definitely go back and next time with our dogs as its dog friendly and has beautiful surroundings.

The staff were really friendly and so helpful, it made the stay so much more enjoyable, the rooms were more than adequate although a little tidying up would be beneficial in the bathroom Food was excellent and plentiful!

There was nothing not to like, the staff were freindly and very helpful, excellent value for money for both food and accomadation, It was a great place to stay!

A proper pub, not a tarted up copy, been serving customers for 400 years. Let us park our motorbike in the courtyard to the rear of the pub. Has an old fashioned 9 pin bowling ally, and still has stable fittings and I think it said Morris Dancing Thursday nights. Evening meal and breakfast both great, special recommendation for Apple Crumble

Not a comment on the Pub but on Booking.com. Some people travel by motorcycle, insulted to be classed as "other". I am sure more people travel to this pub by motorcycle than by boat.
