Breakfast is really good and the location is superb.

When we just wanted a drink at the bar, rather than a full meal, we were ushered into the dog friendly bar room at the back of the restaurant, which a) had loads of dogs in and we don't like dogs and b) smelt really strongly of dogs!!

The location was excellent. The staff were superb. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Excellent view from the room. A good sized room.

Our room was very hot with a large south facing bay window. There was a very good fan that helped us to keep the temperature under control but I think the room would have benefitted from some heavy duty blinds that could be closed during the day. I expected the swimming pool to be part of the main hotel building rather than a short walk away. It was pretty basic too. Could have been a few more hangers in the wardrobe and a bit more drawer storage space. Didn’t particularly like dogs being allowed in the dining areas. Staff were petting dogs and then serving food.

The room was very clean and tidy, with a good view of sea from our room. The breakfast menu was excellent, and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay amazing. Excellent location so you can start on the coastal path from outside the hotel.

Swimming pool is a little disappointing, very small, and had swimming lessons going on, so only a little section to swim in on one side. The lockers would not lock and people were leaving their gear in the changing rooms

Room was well equipped clean and modern, comfy bed and good tea/coffee and toiletries. Lots of room to park. The pool was a bonus. Evening food in the Inn was very good value, plentiful and freshly made. Staff were friendly and chatty and were accommodating. A Christmas market was taking place when we arrived which was a nice addition in the bad weather.

Main hotel was quite dated and far far too hot. The receptionist has the front doors open because she was hot! It was end of November in the middle of a storm! There was no lift and we weren’t asked if we have any mobility issues. The pool water was freezing and we only managed half an hour. Breakfast was average. We had to state our arrival time and was told there would be a long wait because one family arrived late. When the cooked breakfast arrived the bacon and eggs were overdone. Otherwise food was good. I think it was overpriced at £224 a night.

The room was very well equipped. I had a twin room in the separate Tower House. It was spacious with a sofa and 2 harder chairs, enough storage space and 3 mirrors. The staff were all very informative and friendly.

It is a dog friendly hotel. Although I love dogs, there was one barking/yapping each time it was taken out or when anyone entered the building (as they had left it in the room whilst they were in the restaurant/bar). So we were frequently disturbed, including at unsociable hours. There were also several barking dogs in the inn whilst we were having our dinner. It's just a shame as it spoilt our experience a little.

Staff were very friendly. Food was excellent! Bed was comfy. Location next to the sea was lovely. Parking was easy.

Room 28 was a bit pokey although well decorated. The shower room was smart and well-equipped but also very small. The window looked out onto a scruffy flat roof which would be much improved by making it into a living roof with succulents etc. However, we realise that this room was never advertised as one of the best. The downstairs area definitely needs a design makeover but i'm sure the owners are aware of that! Just painting all the dark wood a light colour would much improve it!

Very friendly reception staff and professional restaurant staff too. The room was a good size with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom had a lovely standalone bath giving an air of luxury, though this was spoilt slightly by the mirror hanging off the wall and the plug not being attached to its chain.

The Inn at the Bay pub, which is offered as an alternative to the restaurant but is like chalk and cheese compared to the restaurant. The food in the Inn was very mediocre. Meat was served almost 10 minutes before the veg, by which time the meat and gravy were cold. A shame as most of the staff here were friendly, just not that experienced with serving customers.

Hotel room was beautiful, spotless and modern. That could not be faulted. Great view and great facilties.

Breakfast was slow, and not great. Most items were overcooked and even though this was mentioned, nothing was offered to replace. As a large party it should have been obvious the cooked breakfast wasn't great by the amount of food left on plates. The meal in the bar the previous evening also had to be sent back and I was refunded. Had to wait absolutely ages to be served a coffee the following day too. The room was extremely noisy as there was a family with a baby next door and the crying was continual, although this could happen anywhere, the quiet room request was far from achieved by the hotel, particularly as there was also a wedding taking place in the adjoining function suite on the side of my room, so this meant music was playing until late.

The bedroom (703) was lovely & spacious & the bed was so comfortable. There was also a sofa in the room which was liked. We loved the view from the patio doors & would have loved to have gone on the balcony but Storm Kathleen was raging so we kept the doors shut, but the view of the waves crashing onto the rocks was quite spectacular! We did notice that the windows had been cleaned when we return to the room & we really appreciated that. We used the restaurant on the Sunday & the food was excellent as were the staff. We enjoyed the breakfasts that we had & again, the staff were very helpful. The Reception staff were also excellent. This is the 2nd time that we have stayed at the hotel & we are staying again in July - we must like it!

The only downside, was that none of the 3 car chargers were working in the car park of the hotel. We did use the charger in the local Morrisons which has a rapid charger so it wasn't disastrous.

We liked the unique style of the hotel. Much nicer than a chain hotel. The hotel was clean, room comfortable. The staff went above and beyond. They certainly know the meaning of 'hospitality'. Food in both the restaurant and Inn was exceptional. My husband, 6 year old and myself all found and enjoyed the meal options. The swimming pool is outside of the main hotel. The pool was very warm and clean. The changing facilities are more basic, but adequate. The location is excellent for the beach. There are good walks close by, however the weather meant we did not venture outdoors as much as we would usually. We have a car so it was easy to drive to indoor tourist attractions.
