We loved our stay here. It is a beautiful location. All around nature and is situated just beside the road. The bus stop is beside the hotel with just a few steps. We reached late at night with the last bus from Rovaniemi city. The owner kept the room key outside of the reception door and easy to check in. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. When we reached there, the whole place was covered with snow ❄️ that was so mesmerising for us. Morning views are so beautiful with snow everywhere. The cabins are warm and comfortable. It has a restaurant and they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner until 7 pm. We did our breakfast and dinner for our whole stay here. If you are lucky you can see northern lights here, just you need your eyes up. The restaurant has a common bathroom, kitchen and showers. It’s open 24/7. There is a hiking trail nearby. You need to ask it at the reception. We did it and the trail was covered with snow and snowing in between our hiking too. We were able to meet and talk with local people when we were returning from our hiking. It was nice to know a little more about the locals. You can roam around nearby places if you have a car else there are limited and less frequent public buses to Ivalo town and Saariselka. FYI- we travelled by public bus from Rovaniemi city to here.

Nothing to say- all perfect compared to remote area.

The location was wonderful - it felt like I was secluded and out in nature, but in reality I was a short bike ride away from everything I needed (you can borrow bicycles from the reception when there isn't snow, and snowmobiles when there is). Alternatively, I could have walked everywhere but it would have taken a bit longer (although people do this, and I was able to walk to the airport at the end of my stay). The property is easily accessible by bus. It has its own special stop on the route from Rovaniemi to Ivalo. The staff were wonderful - friendly, helpful, warm. As a solo traveler staying in a hut in the middle of somewhat remote northern Finland, I felt very safe and secure. The accommodations provide you everything you need - a warm, comfortable place to sleep, hot showers, kitchen if needed, WiFi. You can purchase food at reception or go into town. You can drink the tap water. There is hiking, walking, nature scenes to be had in the immediate vicinity. Simply walking or biking alongside the river is such a treat. You are able to see the northern lights outside your cabin when the sky is clear and dark, no need to chase them in a car. I originally wanted to stay in a glass igloo, but they are so expensive. Here, I could look out my window and see how the sky looked, and then take a few steps outside if I wanted to see better, and that provided me with some beautiful scenes. When it's quiet, you can hear huskies barking in the distance, but it's not too loud that you are kept awake. Overall, the ambience is lovely and exactly what I came here for. 1.) Washrooms are sway from the rooms, so one has to wear full winter gear every time one needs to use the loo 2.) Unlike most of the other properties listed at Booking.com, they do not have a provision to cancel the booking until a certain point in case your travel plan changes

We have had some problem with the door that has a different system to close with the padlock. To maintain the possibility of closing and opening, we put the key in the padlock so we could enter and open. This happened to us because when we went to the bathroom we had to open it with a glove and it was complicated for us. However, everything was great, how well it was organized and how clean we found everything.

We were accommodated in a small wooden cabin which I appreciate. The cabin was clean and equipped by a small refrigerator, microwave or electric kettle. The staff was kind and they explained to us everything needed. There is a restaurant where you can get draft beer and something to eat like burger, sandwich or fries. The space near by river is great for chilling and observing Aurora.

It's located near by river, but also the main road heading to Ivalo. It was sometimes noisy.

Absolutely perfect for nature lovers. There are various forest trails next to the camping. The cabins are a bit small with only a very small seat, table and fridge. Bed is comfortable if you're not too tall. But its good for a minimalist "close to the nature" experience. In the kitchen and shower building next to the cabin is everything you need to make dinner etc. The reception / restaurant is open from 8u tot 22u and the staff is always friendly to answer your questions. You can have dinner in the restaurant for a good price. the pork steak with mushroom sauce and french fries are good! Tip: if you want to see the northern light better walk away from the main rood because of the light polution. there is a trail next to the campside going a bit up hill. behind the hill is a smaller trail that leads to the big forest in about 20 minutes walking and there it will be dark enough to see the Aurora Borealis if you're lucky :) .

the bed is a bit on the small size and will be probably too small if your longer then 1.83 meters.

Great service, very helpfully and kind. A cabin was absolutely clean and cozy. Bathrooms are new and totally clean too. Ther is also a fine bar, where you can eat and drink something. Breakfast was fine, selection wasn't very differential, but good enough. To sum up, good value for money! I hope I will be back here.

Easy to get to and very cosy. Exactly as described. Private but not isolated. The bed was sooo comfortable more than recent hotels.

Didn’t really not like anything in particular… the rooms had kettles but no cups so still had to go out into the cold to get to the kitchen to make a warm cuppa… I suppose if you are driving and staying more than a night then yeah you could go into town and get stuff to use in the rooms but for one night couldn’t really make use of the in room facilities.

Me and my brother stayed a week at Ivalo River Camping, and I have to say everything was amazing. The whole staff was so welcoming and made us feel like home. Everyone was so nice and kind, it made it difficult to us to say good bye. Minna and Matti are two of the nicest people I have ever met, always there for everything we needed, always with a smile on their faces. The food was incredible, so tasty, especially the Salmon soup and blueberry pie. The smoothness and creamy of Minna’s Salmon soup was an experience worth of trying. This was our first time in Finland, and I dare to say it won’t be the last time thanks to the beautiful experience of staying at this camping. We came chasing Northern Lights (which we got the luck to see on our second night in the camping), but the magic of the trip wouldn’t be complete without the hospitality of the Ivalo River Camping staff. For sure this will be a yearly trip. We can’t wait to come back next year to see our friends once again.
