The location is fantastic, fairly near to Husavik (for whale watching) and Lake Myvatn (for hiking and thermal bath). Warm and cosy cottage. Easy check in. Cleaning service provided for more than 1 night stay.

A bit small for 6 people. Only 1 toilet and shower and no laundry facilities -- but we knew about that. The loft bedroom is really quaint but hard to get luggage up there! The top bunk in the room with bunk beds is too close to the ceiling for an adult, more suitable for kids.or a really short adult!

We chose this farm stay with a view to having a good location for seeing the Northern Lights away from town lights. Check-in was easy - rooms were open and ready with keys inside. The rooms are pretty functional - only 3 in total i think - there is a kitchenette, compact bathroom and a bed with an armchair in the room and a small table and chairs. There is no TV but reasonable wifi access. Bed and bedding were comfortable. We had a great views of the Northern Lights from the patio outside our room one night so that plan worked out. Plenty of parking next to the rooms. We had dinner in town which is only 5 mins down the road.

Minor thing - there is a very bright outside light illuminating the parking area - good for security but not looking at the sky - they could probably come up with a better alternative since their remote location can be a selling point for watching Northern Lights.

Vallakot Farm Guesthouse was our base when exploring the Lake Myvatn area. We had several questions to pose during and shortly after booking, and Indiana was very efficient and clear in her responses. We had Room 1, closest to the parking spots, furthest from the hot tub. It was spacious and comfortable. We did need to shuffle the furniture around a little to lay down our hard suitcases, but this was something we had to do in most places. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a very comfortable size, and we valued the closed shower and very efficient heated towel rail. There was a very useful kitchen with cooktop and microwave, and a small dining table. We arranged to have a load of laundry done for us overnight given our limited duration stay and need for some clean clothes. Our arrival was delayed because we had to wait for the weather to improve to permit driving on some of the roads. Even so, we were able to communicate with Indiana easily through the booking.com app and she was able to accommodate us. Despite a small bit of confusion about how we should pay for the laundry service, the job was done in good time. It was very easy to deal with Indiana and it was a comfortable stay for us. We would stay here again.

The bathroom door does need some attention as it swings closed of its own accord. Doors should remain where you want them!

The unit we occupied was between two others. So, a little like a motel, but with a lovely rural atmosphere. Lovely little table set on the deck which overlooked the pastures. At the corner of the building was a hot tub which the owner filled upon arrival with geothermal water, which was then emptied after we'd gone to bed. Loved the hot tub and was one of the warmest we used while in Iceland. Owners were friendly and nice, and lovely farm with everything you'd expect on a farm.

Actually, cann't think of anything.

The best house where we stayed in Iceland, the owners were very friendly, the house was perfect equipped, the facilities were in perfect condition and the beds were very comfortable. In our stay we saw northern lights from the house, so the stay was unbeteable. Without a doubt, highly recommended and I would repeat the stay without thinking about it. Many thanks to the owners for the welcome and if I return to Iceland, I will definitely repeat.

This is a great unit within easy reach if Mývatn and Goðafoss and most of the other northern sights. Quiet location on a farm. The unit is very comfortable and warm (which matters when it was -16° outside!). The kitchenette was great - everything you could need, and the fridge was big, and had a freezer section (which is a rare find). I stayed for 3 nights. The bed was super comfy, and the bathroom was more than big enough with a good shower.

As a solo traveller, sometimes it is comforting to have a TV to watch, but this unit doesn't have one. Also, the hottub wasn't working (understandably, as it's winter and it was covered in snow). It would be good to use if you were staying there in summer, though.

I booked the guesthouse for my family and they had a great time. The guesthouse exceeded my expectations, it was beautifully decorated, had everything you needed and was only 10 min away from Godafoss by car. On the second day the owners made sure, that we had everything we needed. My family was very happy about the stay and thus I was too.

Great stay, really enjoyed it, the host was so kind and welcoming and even agreed to leave the hot tub running late at night because we arrived late, and gave us directions on how to turn it off, showing full confidence in us which was really nice. everything was fun and clean, parking really close to the room :)

A lovely farm combined with a guesthouse, offering a great view with no light pollution. We saw the Northern Lights here. The people at the guesthouse are very friendly, and the dogs and farm animals are adorable!

This place is a piece of heaven on Earth. Although it's a bit further away from the main tourist attractions around the Myvatn lake, it's totally worth a detour. The rooms are modern and beautifully decorated with very tasteful details. Our room had a small private kitchen and a nice spacious private bathroom, great bonus considering the price was the same as several guesthouses offering rooms with shared bathroom. The beds were comfortable and it was blissfully quiet. The biggest surprise was the outdoor hot tub, which we basically had to ourselves as we travelled in low season. The water temperature was delightful, if only we could still see the northern lights but alas it was too late in the season for that. The hosts were lovely and have two very friendly dogs ❤️

We loved everything, it was a perfect stay.
