The location of the hotel is second to none with stunning views over the lake to Isola san Giulio. We were in the annex Villa Gippini while our sons were in the hotel. The rooms in the hotel have been renovated and are uniformly grey which is not as attractive as the villa with its painted walls and ceilings. Both rooms had lake views which were fabulous. Ours was very spacious and though simple was very comfortable. The hotel is quaintly old fashioned in some respects but what sets it apart is the magnificent (and probably old fashioned) service. The staff cannot do enough. The restaurant is fabulous. We had two delicious lunches and an amazing dinner. The pool area is wonderful with views over the lake. We didn’t swim in the pool however as the silky water of the lake was more to our taste. We loved our stay. Orta San Giulio is a beautiful town. We would definitely return.

Lovely hotel in a great location. The staff are helpful and friendly. They offered us a free pickup from the station which was an added bonus! The trip over to the beach was also a lovely little extra!

It was difficult to control the AC in the room, so occasionally it got a little chilly! The lighting was a little dim- but was fine when the curtains were open.

The hotel is stunning- from the outside it is a historical building but has been renovated with all the modern fittings and comforts. The room was clean and had an amazing view of the lake (the Hotel had upgraded us to a room with a view which was very appreciated and a lovely surprise) - top quality amenities from the linen to bathroom toiletries. The hotel is on the water (unfortunately we where there on a overcast winters day and so could not maximise the pool and all the outdoor facilities) but could see that it would be amazing in warmer weather. The breakfast spread was extensive and delicious- it catered for all dietary needs and the staff were attentive.

One small mishap was that we had arrange a pick up form the train station and had to phone them to remind them - but they remedied it fast by sending a transfer ASAP

We knew already this hotel, we went back for its location just on the lake and the walking distance to the lovely village, the pool and the lake are both equally easy to access (we prefer swimming in the lake though!) and the parking in this location is certainly a plus!

The hotel is of considerable size and has a number of spaces that could be used for outdoor meals, but only lunch was planned outside during our stay. We have been told that sometime dinner is planned outside but when there is no wind (something we did not notice), a missed opportunity we believe.

Great location on the lake. Water was very clean and you could swim from beside the pool. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food was good. The local village was near by with plenty of restaurants. Boat trips to the island from the square. It is smaller and less busy than other lakes which we really liked. A great relaxing break. Their was a music evening with special food which was excellent, really enjoyable. Great location to also go to Lake Maggiore. We went to Stresa and the islands which were very beautiful especially Bella.

The pool walls were covered in fake tan and sun tan lotion which put me off swimming in it. We swam in the lake instead.

Incredible location, good pool, good seats.The food in the restaurant was exceptional, if a little expensive. Breakfast service was excellent, very good food service. Valet parking.

Some basic things would make a major difference: stairs into the lake, rather than a slippery rock; a bath plug (we asked for one but it never came); someone on duty at the pool all the time (we had to go hunting for someone to get towels on the second day); enough toilet paper without having to ask. For the high price, we would expect these things to be sorted. Probably not the hotel’s fault, but the modern art in the lake somewhat spoiled the view!

Great location by the lake with lovely views and lake swimming from the hotel possible. Rooms comfortable.

Breakfast modest with an additional 10 euro charge for an omelette.Fresh bread if you get there early. Coffee from a machine. On arrival we got a lower grade room than we had booked -the hotel was full - but we were upgraded for the last 3 days in recompense. Noisy disco until late one night

Location was amazing. Breakfast was excellent. Pool had ducks in it and duck poo around edge! Staff were very helpful. Orta is an amazing place and this hotel could also be amazing if someone looked after the garden areas - all a bit unkempt in places but othwise a perfect spot

No mirror above dressing table and lighting poor when reading in bed.

Great Location, fantastic view over the lake and a good breakfast. The room was OK but there were a couple of issues.

Our room lacked proper curtains or shutters which made the room very hot in the late afternoon. The problem was compounded by the ineffective airconditioning that didnt cope. Word of advice: Do not simply follow your GPS and drive through the very narrow one-way streets of Orta to the hotel as we did. Locate the proper access before you arrive.

The location is superb. Right on the lake. The building is beautifull. The room we had (junior suite) was very nice. Because of a leakage in the bathroom we were upgraded to the suite, which was even more beautifull.

It is such a shame that such a beautifull hotel on such a beautifull location has some flaws. The staff does not seem very motivated. One time we walked away beacause it took very long before we even got served. There was a leakage in our first room, so we had to move rooms in the night. We got a bigger room, which was nice but then the airconditioning did not work. Luckily it wasn’t very hot. Also, the wifi was working 1 day, worked a little 1 day And 2 days the wifi didn’t work at all. This hotel needs a good manager that motivates the staff and assures everything workes. Than it will be a 9 /9,5, in stead of the 8 / 8,5 it is now.
