Actually, it exceeded my expectations. I would recommend this to anyone who is going to the Picton Ferry and needs a place to stay outside of Christchurch. It was very clean, albeit the bed was a little soft for me, but that is only my preference. It's a short 3-hour trip to Picton from there so if you have an afternoon ferry crossing this place is perfect. The coffee was amazing in the room as well. Breakfast was not included, but this was fine as this is a Motel, not a borstal. Would give it 5 stars as a rating if I could.

The country location...loved looking out of the kitchen window at sheep and cows and trees etc

Lots of sachets of coffee etc but no scissors in the kitchen drawer to cut them open TV wasn't easy to work out...instruction booklet there but after a long day of travel one just wants to turn it on and flop down in front of the tv ...too complicated as is, Please just set it up to be easier to use

Really appreciated the personal touch in this lovely family-run motel. They were super accommodating of our late check in and the room had everything we needed for a comfortable night. A great place to stop en route to Christchurch. Also of note is the café next door for breakfast – great food and coffee and lovely staff!

Spotlessly clean,spacious and very well provisioned. The kitchen had everything I needed. It lay well to the sun. Reading light over the bed was great (this is a failing in many motels) Provision of a potted plant and a wall clock gave it a homely feel

The bathroom is adequate but dated. It's close to the main road so a little noisy.

Hostess was beautifully welcoming. Room was updated, clean and comfortable and spacious Thought has obviously been put into the room, little touches that make a place feel like home were included.

The shower space was a little tight, but immaculately clean.

Shower was too hot couldn’t get to control temperature right. One of the single beds was to light if you sat on the bed foot the head would lift up, bed was comfortable to sleep in though. They could use chairs outside the door to sit outside.

Excellent location, just off the highway. Very easy to find. The apartment we had was a 2 bedroom apartment with drawing and kitchen. very very spacious and with all the amenities. Would recommend this to anyone.

Phenomenal value - we got a two bedroom apartment for a great price. It had been recently renovated and was comfortable, clean and with everything you need. We just overnighted in Cheviot prior to the ferry but if youu wanted to be in Cheviot for a longer period - this place would be great.

Spacious lounge & two separate bedrooms & fully equipped.

Unfortunately, for hotels, our son is 6 ft 3, & the single bed was too small, and soft. Also, the bathroom was small - we are 6 foot also.

Perfectly situated between Alpine Pacific Triangle & Inland Scenic Routes. Spacious & fully appointed, congenial & helpful hosts, would be a great place for a longer stay! (Highly recommend No. Eight Cafe across the street as well.)
