Staff were wonderful, location was good for what I was there for, room was very comfortable even for an extended stay.

The people. My travel arrangements got changed several times at very short notice because of weather and technical issues affecting my flights but the people at Bella Vista were very helpful, understanding and flexible. The room was warm on arrival (late on a cold winter night) well equipped and comfortable. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Nothing to not like at the Bella Vista Kaikoura. Staff, great. Room, great. Value for money, great.

Location was great and close to most activities we wanted to do. Easy to find on the main road. Room was comfortable enough for the one night. Plenty of parking and was able to part right out front of room.

Check in only at specific times. Check in wasn't available immediately when we arrived. Heating was not very efficient and only on one side of the room. Whoever sleeps closest will get hot while the other will be cold.

We arrived after a long drive , went to reception and was told in no uncertain terms that we were 1hr and 15 mins early and would have to pay for an early check in ??? I declined and said we would pop back, which we did !!! Some say let’s see if the room is ready ?? That was never an option !! It was the way it was said ! So not the welcome you expect ! Left a sour taste after that !

Great location close to Kaikoura township, nice and quiet, clean tidy rooms. Julia was really helpful and moved us into Unit 15 upstairs with a great view even during a busy holiday time of year (Christmas). Unit 3 downstairs was lovely too, with good sized room, table, bathroom etc. Great place to stay.

Room was ok size and very clean. Queen plus small single. Good location on main road, about 10 min walk down into main town area (note down a steep hill!)

Room a little small if had 3, ok for 2, and a bit dark although we were only there for a quick stop on a long journey so perfectly ok.

Some kitchen equipment needs updating - small sharp knife was not at all sharp! No scissors. No chopping boards Draughty in places and door handles a bit rattly TV - is way too large for room

The bed was very comfortable, nice sheets. Excellent shower, and everything was clean and tidy. The milk on arrival was a bonus. Great TV. We had our room serviced on the second morning which wasn't expected.

There was a light outside our room which lit the room up more than we liked. Felt like morning light all night, making it hard to get back to sleep. Trucks coming past were noisy about 2am, so we may not stay in this location again.

Were given a phone number for the only taxi driver in the town but he didn’t respond. We googled and found an alternative contact for Kaikoura Shuttles who were prompt to answer and pickup

Great location - just a tad out of town but close enough. We need two rooms for our family of 4 and the placed us right next to each other, also had clothes washing facilities- which we needed by that stage of our trip. The owner/managers were so lovely and our kids had a great time playing in the playground with theirs and meeting their many cute cats. Decent sized kitchen as well which was a relief.
