Amazing one-bedroom apartment. Comfortable couch, full dining table, and amazing bed. The sea is right out your door. Short walk into the town centre and a comfortable walk out to the seal colony. We will be back for sure.

There is only a microwave, so in-house cooking (self-catering) is limited.

We recently stayed at Kaikoura Beach Motel and found it to be a convenient and efficient choice for our short visit. Although the rooms are not overly spacious, they are adequately sized, comfortable, and maintained with a high standard of cleanliness. The ability to park directly in front of our room was a significant convenience, especially when returning after a day of sightseeing. One of the standout features was the streamlined check-in and checkout process, which was handled entirely via email and in-room information, eliminating the need to visit the reception. This was particularly appreciated and made our stay smooth and hassle-free. Overall, Kaikoura Beach Motel offers a practical and pleasant stay, especially for travelers looking for simplicity and efficiency in their accommodations.

Right at the centre of activities and a few minutes walk to the beach. Across the road. Tours (like Dolphin Encounter is just a block away), restaurants, cafes, souvenir shops is just several meters away. No need to drive. Poppy was very helpful to rearrange my booking. The place is pretty quiet and it has a common kitchen which is very convenient. Felt safe in the area.

No aircon...as I stayed this month (early spring) it is okay. I am not sure summer time in Kaikoura.

The location was fantastic, right opposite the beach. We could see the sunrise and take a walk in the cool breeze early in the morning. The place was also close to the main shopping strip and restaurants. Main attractions were also easy to get to. The beds were clean and firm which we loved. The bathroom facilities was also fantastic and the showerhead was really great for easing sore musles at the end of the night.

Lighting could be a bit brighter at night or management could make the lights on the outside walkways all light up. We arrived late at night and it was a bit hard to see the driveway and the room number.

Small outdated TV.Set too high in lounge.During day hard to see as sunlight came in from large side window. We put cushions along window to block out the sun,but did not work very well.The single cane seat is not a good idea. There should be 2 X 2 seaters in a unit that sleeps 4.The dining table could be set back a little to allow additional 2 seater. All other facilities were excellent.This is constructive critisicism and did not detract from a very pleasant 3 day stay. We love Kaikoura.A very special place not far from our home in Christchurch.

The apartment was lovely, very clean, modern, comfortable, newly refurbished. Location was good, opposite the beach and not too far to walk into town. Easy check in and out - I was able to store my luggage for the day when I left and Michele very kindly gave me a lift to the bus stop to save me walking with my case in the heat.

Nothing, but might be helpful to have a cupboard/wardrobe and/or some drawers. It was fine for me on my own for a couple of days, but I’d imagine others might want to unpack some things especially if staying longer, and there isn’t anywhere to put clothes etc.

We always stay here when in Kaikoura. Older motel which has been refurbished. Beds are very comfortable and location is excellent. Great value for money.

Our room (2) had a very bright light in all night which shone into our room. Perhaps a duller bulb/timer/sensor light would be better?

Fabulous location opposite the beach. The motel is older but has been renovated with a great shower and comfortable bed. There is crockery in the room and shared kitchen for all the units with a toaster, microwave and to stir pie maker so you can make an easy meal and breakfast. The owner was really friendly and helpful. It was good value.

We had no complaints

Good location on the beach front. Property great for free laundry option. Sky tv is available which is great for those who use it! Very easy check in and informative information from owners.

No air con in room which was a little disappointing as it was very cold in the morning. Our room also didn’t have many lights making it seem quite dark and dimly lit.

Excellent unit with great ocean view - spacious with all necessary facilities except one (see below). Easy parking on roadside or off street, and located close to the very good Encounter cafe. Lovely outdoor patio (roadside) for breakfast or evening glass of wine.

Only gripe would be lack of a cupboard or closet for unpacking into - we were in town for a wedding and sorely missed somewhere to hang suits, dresses, etc. The unit is very spacious - I could design a cupboard infill that could built over a weekend (.....and turn the bathroom into an ensuite for added privacy to boot!). An iron and board were supplied on request.
