It's a hostel and we found everything as advertised. If folks expect a full hotel they will be disappointed but that would not be the hostel's fault!

Hvoll was better than the usual hostel experience and conveniently located for those traveling sites on Iceland's southern coast. There was ample kitchen space(s), and no lines for the multiple bathrooms.
This isn't entirely the hostel's fault, but there was a very large and obnoxiously loud group of travelers that took over the dining room to sing drinking songs and chat loudly outside our window until the very last minute before quiet hours. I never encountered any staff during our stay. So, the behavior of that group led me to wonder if they were even present onsite. We weren't the only guests to feel overwhelmed by this group.

Great kitchen, very spread out and accommodating to all guests. Included oven, sinks, microwave, kettle. Private rooms were mostly sound proof. Small sink and mirror in bed room. Bringing slides or flipflops for walking around was nice. Spotted red throated loons and ruddy turnstone in pond area next to parking.
Other guests being surprised and yelling when people will try to open shared bathroom or shower area. All the doors securely lock so the yelling was unnecessary and no way else to tell other than trying the handle. To fix this a red or green signal notifying if stall is in use would be helpful.

A very well run establishment that is somewhat better than a typical hostel, but not quite of hotel standard. The wi-fi was the best we experienced in Iceland (anywhere) at 75mbps and all areas were spotless. The clientele were families rather than solo travellers so don't expect to meet up with fellow travellers and not much info was posted with regard to activities in the area. That being said, there was a pretty good mix of nationalities staying overnight and we had no complaints whatsoever regarding the facilities.
A long way from anywhere. Overpriced for a hostel despite hostel rooms. It's still the best value in the area regardless.

Good value/money. It was the cheapest option in that area Spacious parking, big dining area, 3 well equipped kitchens, 2 massive fridges. The room is small with a bunk bed, but for 2 people is just enough. There is a small table and 2 chairs. Sink (very big plus), towels and a hairdryer. A lot of bathrooms in a good shape.
The hostel is a little bit outdated, but no big deal. The walls are bit thinner, you might hear people slamming the door and talk, but it's more a people problem than a hostel's fault. The radiator could be bigger.

I loved that it was clean and functional. We stayed for one night, there are three great kitchens and a large dining area. In the summer it must be fun to eat by the nearby creek. Great views of the vast Icelandic nature. My teenage kids were satisfied. Overall very good first impression. It was the cheapest in the area when I booked, but I believe the price to value ratio is fair. Take ear plugs with you, tends to be loud at night.
The road to the hostel is gravel, it is not in the description I think. If I knew I would not book as I arrived in a rental car that wasn't 4x4. I had to plan to arrive before sunset because of that. Also, I didn't like how loud it was. The walls are pretty thing and the doors slam really loud. I woke up several times during the night, I heard conversations through the wall.

We couldn't be more thankful to this accommodation as they warned us about the storm and the possibility of road closures the following day. It literally saved our lives. As tourists, we may not know where to check for weather conditions or do not know what to expect, but thankfully the host sent us an email to warn us about it. We reached our following day's accommodation safely. The place is big. The room was perfect with the heater available and a private sink. The pantry area was spacious and comfortable, the multiple heaters were a saviour.
As what we can expect from a hostel, there were only 2 toilets shared between many rooms. As such, it was quite dirty by the time we used it.

Clean bedroom (although some stains on mattress, a protector would be good), great that it had it's own sink and we could control the temperature well. Nice location and view. Good that there are several different kitchens and bathrooms, and a nice eating area. I was able to use a bathroom when I needed to, as there were several upstairs and downstairs, and they were clean. Check in experience was easy and quick.
Whilst there were three kitchens, it just wasn't enough for the number of guests staying. They were small, which is fine for one or two people, but makes it almost impossible to share meaning people were waiting outside to use them. I understand with kitchens, they're busy at specific times, and empty for the rest of the time, but it would be good to include more hot plates in the dining area instead of all the microwaves/toasters/kettles to help with all the people trying to use the kitchen.

The hostel is situated a bit further from the main road thanks to that you can enjoy a beautiful night with stars and northern lights if you're lucky. A big spacious kitchen allows you to have enough space especially for a group of people, It is also well equipped. The staff is very friendly and always happy to help. Rooms themselves are not that spacious (even family room) but still doable for 4 people. The only thing I'd recommend is to place a bit bigger sign to the hostel on the road as during the night it's easy to miss the turn, as well as the sign on bathroom which has a shower, which has just a toilet as it's quite important to which one you should queue 😄

We ended up booking this stay because there were no other hotels available for our travel dates. This was my first time staying in a hostel. I was nervous but everything was good. The rooms were clean, the beds cozy and the kitchen area was clean and lively. We got to see the northern lights there since there’s no light pollution. Self check in was smooth and fast! Sharing the bathrooms/showers was not bad at all. They were clean and spacious.
