It was the most beautiful, modern, yet unspoiled accommodation! The Aurora from here was magnificent as light pollution was very low. Lots of nature around - with the lakes you can see a number of local birds and hear the geese. The accommodation had everything we needed included a nice coffee pod machine. We had views of the glacier which was a bonus! Magma restaurant has the most amazing food and the staff are just lovely! My partner proposed to me at the accommodation and at breakfast the next day we were treated with a congratulations and a lava cake which was just so so kind! Thankyou for making this the most memorable trip for us and we will 100% be back soon

Nothing at all!

Beautiful modern decorated rooms with a view over the lake. Rooms are spacious and the beds are large and lay delicious. With a sliding door you walk onto your small patio at the lake. We had the luck to see the northern light outside our room shining over the lake. Nice small restaurant with tasteful meals. The breakfast was also very nice.

Immaculate, cosy, stylish welcoming lodges. Exactly as described. Very quiet area overlooking the lake- frozen this week. We chose the location in order to hopefully see the aurora- we weren’t disappointed. We were having dinner and they informed us that the lights were on! Fabulous! The meal was lovely too- staff were great, very friendly and helpful.

Nothing really- if I had to say anything it would be that they don’t have anyone on reception after dinner service - so not wake up call for the lights. But as I said, we saw them 8.30- 9pm.

This spot worked out great for us! This was our favorite hotel of all the places we stayed along our South Coast route. We only stayed one night due to our busy travel schedule, but sure wish we could have stayed longer. We had dinner and then breakfast the following morning. Both the food and staff were great! The beds were super comfortable and the shower was wonderful! We felt well rested and ready for the next leg of our drive.

Great stay in a calm place. The hotel was very clean and room was comfy and had a lot of space. Check in and check out were very easy. It was also on a way around the island and perfect location to stay overnight before going further East. The lady at the reception was very responsive. She kindly booked us a place for dinner on a very last minute before out arrival. We didn't wait more than 10 minutes for the answer to our request placed online.

When we came to the breakfast many items were already gone and it took quite a while to restock so I felt that there was not much choice. Other than that everything was perfect.

Very friendly and welcoming staff, amazing room, very clean with breathtaking view. The room is specious and comfortable. The bathroom is great. Very calm and serene. We had a delicious dinner like in a chef restaurant I would rate the hotel as 4 stars!

The breakfast should improve offering espresso and upgrade quality of the breads, the scrambled eggs were over cooked and dry.

The most amazing stay we had during our trip to Iceland. In a great distant location within nature, where each apartment resides on its own. You can enjoy a spacious, clean, modern room with all the amenities you might want, and a stunning view. Moreover, the restaurant serves great delicious dishes and wine. If you are lucky, you might enjoy aurora as well did.

A minor comment for improvement, the staff can be a bit more quiet during the cleaning process after the breakfast.

This hotel is highly rated for a reason, it has large comfortable rooms, flat screen tv, lovely views of the lake, a well appointed bathroom and most cabins had a nice porch area also overlooking the lake. The main hotel/ restaurant is in a separate building, a short walk from the rooms and there is no room service. There is a fridge in the room (but no drinks?) and plenty of space to hang clothes. The restaurant is very good with confident cooking and good size hearty fare. My ribeye steak was really good and perfectly cooked. Unfortunatly breakfast (as in most hotels in Iceland) was just average and nothing special.

No bar, no room service, no lounge, no spa, no pool, tv does not tune well to internationl channels, no drinks left in mini bar, no help offered with luggage, no heat control on towel rail, no out door furniture on porch to watch the northern lights!

The lake side cottages are blissful and such attention to detail has been given - nespresso, toiletries and binoculars all there. Very high spec. Location great. Breakfast delicious.

We arrived at 8.15pm after a long drive to find the kitchen already closed. We were directed to the excellent Hotel/Restaurant Klaustur a few minutes away which I would recommend. Magma says it’s reception is open until 10pm. it definitely isn’t. The following night at around 8.30pm the music was abruptly turned off so we finished our drinks and left. Staff definitely keen to leave. A bar would be a great addition to this place and we would have stayed for another drink. Again, we were hurried for breakfast which finished at 9.30am. And there are signs to remind you not to take a sandwich from the. breakfast room without permission and payment of surcharge. Which felt a little unnecessary. None of this really detracts from the wonderful hotel facilities though.

More options on the breakfast menu - there is no option to order anything extra (even for extra fee), the buffet is very limited, doesn't have many vegan options; adding eg. avocado toast, chia-seed pudding etc. would be great. A small spa would be great - or a lounge-room to hang out. Beside the restaurant, the hotel doesn't offer any other facilities.
