We stayed in unit 1 in the adjoining 1870s Nun’s Cottage (adjoins the 1889s Priory - both pictured) which was extremely spacious and well equipped - it was self contained with a good kitchen and bathroom. A short walk to the centre of town in a very quiet area. It’s so special to visit historic Beechworth and stay in a genuine part of its early history. Excellent value for money. (We had self checkin so didn’t actually see anyone). No TV - so nice to escape the real world for a while.
Car parking was in the quiet street out the front of the cottage with a tall step which may make it a little difficult to transfer luggage for some - but distance was short. No tea towel provided.

Check in was easy. We stayed in the nun’s cottage. The bedroom had plenty of heaters which kept us warm. The kitchen and bathroom had no windows but good lighting. There was a fridge and plenty of crockery and cutlery. We did not know until we arrived that there was a complimentary breakfast of cereal, toast and coffee/tea. This was in the main building. The location was perfect. You could walk everywhere. There was no television. We knew about this.
This is more of an awareness. The buildings are very old and therefore be prepared to hear other guests. There was no dishwashing liquid. We had to get some from the breakfast area.

Fascinating old building with lots of character and history. Very central but still in a quiet street. The place has a beautiful garden and is simply interesting to walk around in, with old style furniture and lots of unusual rooms. The shared bathroom ended up being quite good too, and felt almost private. There is also a large shared kitchen and common room in the basement you should be aware of. The staff were friendly in an unobtrusive way. I would go again.
The simpler room we stayed in was very basic indeed, but this is a feature of the place and part of its charm. I think there are some larger rooms with possibly more facilities. You would not come here for luxury though.

Good location 2m walk from the main drag, lovely staff (when called), handy bike locker, pleasantly surprised that breakfast was available in the morning. My room had a heater and the bed was very comfortable and clean. Good value, would come again.
The walls are a bit thin, which would be fine except that other guests were still noisy after 10pm despite signage. Heard some other guests complain about the cold so idk if everyone gets a heater.

I loved staying in an old building with so much history. I loved the letter that I was given with information about the property, and it was overall an amazing stay. Beds were comfy, and the bathroom was modern. Massive fridge too!
I didn't like how thin the walls were, as we could hear someone (poorly) singing through the walls in another room. Sound definitely carries through the hallways - in the nun's cottage anyways. Not sure about the main building but the nun's cottage definitely carries the sound.

Very nice old building with a lot of charme. The room was big and noty too many pepole used the shared bathroom. The location was great and even basic self serve breeakfeast was offered. We would go there again for sure.
The sound isolation between the floors, you could hear every step of the person above. No wardrobe in the room made it a bit hard to put away your clothing but really for this price tag and location it is absolutely great. Especially the staff was perfect!

The atmosphere and serenity from the moment we set eyes on the Priory. The history in the building and the walls, the grooves in the beautiful wooden staircase. The step back in time with no television and a free continental breakfast in the dining room. The golden leaves that carpeted the entry to the building, the huge, bare trees out the front and the beautiful front garden that welcomed you to that huge front door. The whole town was so clean, relaxed and oozing with history.
Had to go home..

A fabulous old building and a short work to the centre of town.
The very early checkout time - in one spot it said 9am and another spot on line said 9.30. Also a hand towel and flannel would have been good. The bath/shower could be tricky for people with some physical issues as you had to step over the side of a hip bath. This should be made clear in the description of the room.

Being an old Prior, it was a great experience. Very good value for the price, and breakfast was even included. The rooms were small but clean and warm. the location was fantastic in relation to everything in the town.
We didn't mind sharing the bathrooms; however, you are then at the mercy of other guests' cleanliness and leaving the bathrooms in a fit state.

The building and gardens were stunning and gave a quiet regal feel that no other accommodation of that price has ever given me.
The way the original booking page was written lead me to believe the bathrooms were private to each room and not a shared utility.
