Loved the location as it is near to all the old asylums and the lake + a quick walk into town. The building is interesting in itself and has gardens and ample parking. The host is friendly and accommodating as we had booked 2 rooms for us and our teenage daughter and he thoughtfully gave us adjacent rooms. Comfortable bed and sufficient facilities.

The AC in one of the two rooms we booked wasn't working and could not be fixed. The host provided lots of fans and it was cool enough at night. No big deal for me as I hate ACs anyway, but it bothered my wife and would doubtless be an issue for those who can't take the heat.

We have stayed at Linaker previously & love the spacious grounds, the beautiful old trees & the peaceful, quiet surrounds.Linaker is set away from the main shopping, cafes hub of Beechworth & it is a very relaxing ambience. Although set away from the centre of Beechworth the cafes & restaurants are only a short drive away & are very easy to access. Also there is ample parking close by the accommodation & there is a lift to the upper floors of the accommodation. Although somewhat dated the accommodation was comfortable, very clean, crisp clean sheets on the bed. There was a kettle & teabags etc.

There were a couple of problems with the accommodation we were allocated. We both like to read and there were no bedside reading lamps which was annoying. There were only overhead lights & this was an inconvenient. In addition there were 2 televisions in the accommodation, one in the sleeping area & one in the sitting area but neither of them were tuned & though we attempted to tune them unfortunately we had no success. There seemed to be a problem with the wifi.

The staff were fantastic, extremely friendly and approachable. The room was above my expectation, having the bedroom, and a small lounge area being separate. Check in and check out was simple, and the location is perfect to visit the Beechworth Asylum. The whole feel to the place was more like a commune than a motel. People gathered outside, and in the lounge areas on each floor. It made the stay even more enjoyable.

The towels in the bathroom were small, and the lift was noisy

Atmosphere was great. Quiet and peaceful. Easy all round.

The roof of that beautiful building needs urgent attention. Heavy moss growth and blocked gutters will lead to further damp problems, e.g. the balconies are dripping water from their roofs. I understand the logistics of such a concern, but it would be awful to see permanent damage done to that beautiful art deco building. Especially given the powerful history of all that went on. Next time in Beechworth I will definitely book-in again with you. I do recognize that roofs are expensive to build and maintain. Thanks again, Greg

Set in beautiful gardens, the owners have renovated the building in the art deco style with furnishings very sympathetic to this style. It was a pleasure to see this detail. Unusually there were 2 rooms: a sitting room & a bedroom, both extremely comfortable. One very big plus was the perfect bed complete with perfect pillows. It would be a pleasure to stay there again.

Staff need to be educated to report any maintenance issues immediately they appear. As we walked in to the room, the toilet could be heard continually flushing. My husband temporarily fixed it but it will need professional help.

amazing front of house service, was unexpected but very friendly, amusing, helpful, & welcoming 5/5 stars for the fellow who served us at the front desk. rooms were clean, crisp white sheets, fresh, great ventilation, loved the old details & architecture. remodeld & clean bathrooms retaining the art deco style. mini bar & fans in room. slept well. each room included a separate private lounge bar area in an adjoioining room. The linaker: giving a little "the Shning" in beechworth vibes including the long organge carpeted hallways with art deco lighting & creeky back door going out to the rear carpark. Approaching this old hotel gives a real impact as you drive up. loved our stay would stay again.

booked 2 rooms for 2 parents & 2 kids found out on arrival that the rooms were not adjoining nor even on the same floor, which was a surprise with children listed on the booking. to be fair we book the night before & the hotel was booked out. after discussing the matter with my husband we concocted a plan to see if we could transport a mattress from 1 room to the spare lounge area in room 2 for our girls to sleep on. the front of house was more than happy to accomodate our request & very helpful in moving the mattress with my husband. The girls were happy as can be & thought this was a great adventure.

The staff are amazing, from a warm welcome, answering any questions we had and worked over and above to resolve an issue that arose. Room clean, toileteries supplied, toaster, microwave, kettle etc even a supply of cutlery was there if you needed them which most places do not provide. More than happy to be a returning guest.

Some maintenance is required in some small areas nothing too major. Just makes the place look a bit dated.

Very laid back hotel and has great facilities. It has got private parking in the backyard and you could just roll your luggage straight into the lobby. I had a special request for baby crib which they arranged promptly. It was hard to get the crib fixed upright, the host and his partner took extra effort in making sure that it is well fitted. They were very warm and friendly and we felt home. Thank you for the great hospitality!

The place was very cold (mid April) and the heater could have been better.

Our family stayed overnight in a family suite (queen + single + sofa bed). The host was cheerful, friendly and very helpful. The bedding was clean and comfortable...the heating made the room warm and cosy. The bathroom was well stocked with all the expected toiletries, and the tea-making amenities were more than adequate to suit our needs. The motel was really handy in location to the township and all the historic attractions, including our tour of the Mayday Hills Lunatic Asylum.

Nothing to really complain about...To be picky, the towel rack in the bathroom was a bit worse the wear. I took the towels off the rack, because my kids can be a bit heavy handed and I didn't want it to come completely off the wall !

We loved the old world charm and orginal building. Also loved Doug character of a man and really fits the location.

it would be good to have a small booklet on the history of the former nurses accommodation. also it would be good if the Asylum ghost tours talked to all the accommodation about when they are open and not open. Was a little frustrating that there was no information about the ghost tours not being open.
