Room with 1 king and 2 singles was spacious and relaxed; courtyard it overlooked was attractive; rooftop was relaxing space with sun protection; location near markets was excellent. Mini-fridge in room was very helpful, as was a/c. In many other Oaxacan spaces you are expected to throw away, not flush, your toilet paper but here there was no such stated expectation. Staff helped us arrange airport taxis and COVID tests for re-entry. For the week we were in the state between a couple different hotels, the things arranged by Hotel Siglo XVII staff were the only experiences that happened ahead* of schedule.

I had filtered my search for hotels with breakfasts, which I took to mean complimentary breakfast, but this hotel's "breakfast" was at an attached restaurant that was not complementary and which fell short of other Oaxacan morning restaurant options. The rooftop pools, while narrow, were nice touches except for swimming around in them a little stirred up enough sediment that you wondered how often they were cleaned. Doorknobs on both bathroom and room were loose; there was no mechanism (like a "do not disturb" sign) by which we could request the staff not clean the room daily.

Location was absolutely brilliant - super easy to explore the city on foot. All of the main attractions were within a 10 minute walk or less - neighbourhood felt safe at night, wasn’t noisy as the rooms are set back in a quiet courtyard within the property so there is no traffic disturbance despite being on a main road.

As an option, would be great to have had ‘Breakfast included’ ….however this is by no means the end of the world! The Rooftop Pool area felt a little redundant whilst we were there - great facility but didn’t appear to be used very much? Option for a rooftop terrace bar area in the evening could be great for the hotel to generate additional income before guests head out for dinner?

I loved the pool area! It is beautiful and a great asset. There should be staff up there to hand out towels and order drinks and snacks. It would make it more inviting. I also loved Jazz coffee and breakfast. Sooo good! Front desk and breakfast staff good but could be more attentive. Christian at jazz coffee was excellent 👌 The rooms were very nice too! Could use better lighting tho.

The floor in my room was dirty and I had to ask for it to be mopped. It was still dirty after they cleaned it. No hairdryer in the room either and I had to ask

My wife and I have been coming to Oaxaca for nearly 50 years. In that time we have stayed in hostels, budget hotels, and in high end luxury, but for all-round comfort, pleasure and location - as well as sheer hospitality and brilliant manager and staff, the SigloXVII has been the best. We are recommending it to our friends, and will be back. The hotel arranged pick up at the airport, trips out of town all very affordably. The roof terrace is lovely and the pool is a sensible size

One thing to note is that the wifi in rooms can be a bit patchy. But don’t let that put you off for a moment. It is a gem of a hotel.

We loved everything about the hotel, especially the wonderful staff. The hotel is beautiful; conveniently located in the center of "old town" and very authentic. The manager Adriana, and her staff were exceptional; so kind and accommodating from the minute we arrived ( which was five hours before our scheduled check in). Adriana made sure we were comfortable and worked hard to get us into a room within the hour, which we did not expect. Everyone was so genuine and professional the entire time of our stay. Although the location is in the center of the gorgeous city, the hotel was so quiet and seemed so remote. This is due to the layout which includes the restaurant and rooms surrounding a beautiful courtyard full of plants and shrubs. The rooftop pool and garden were a perfect place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. Our room was a perfect size and the bed was very comfortable. Housekeeping folks were meticulous. They were very attentive if needed, but we never really bumped into anyone even though our schedule was very irregular. Our room was always spotless when we returned. We had rented a car for the week ( do not recommend doing so) which very well could have been a disaster with finding parking etc. However the hotel offered "valet parking" for a very reasonable daily rate. Their responsiveness made this situation so much less stressful( for us). We found our time in Oaxaca to be magical, and I know much of that is due to our wonderful experience at Hotel Siglo XVII. We will return soon !!!!!!!!

Oaxaca is a relatively expensive city compared to many in Mexico. Many Mexican Nationals and others from around the world visit here. This hotel offers good value- If you want a quiet oasis right in the middle of Centro- this is it. No, it’s not the Ritz - but it works- and it works well. Staff is exceptionally helpful. Walk out the door and it’s two blocks to the square.

This is an historic property so the rooms are adequate but not large by modern standards. The A/C is quiet and a real rarity here but the operable windows are a bit small. Must step up to bathroom- bath fans could be quieter.

Stately building which is cool and quiet. Good quality food at the internal restaurant at a reasonable price. While the room we had was small, there are plenty of places to sit and read or enjoy a drink and chat outside your room. The roof terrace, pool and gym are lovely. The bed was very comfortable and I loved that two luggage racks were provided! One for each person’s bag, many hotels don’t do this for some reason. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely return.

Breakfast was very good. Location was excellent. Despite street noise, the room was very quiet. Staff was friendly and efficient. Comfortable bed, with good bed linens, and good air conditioning. Tap water was not potable, but a supply of drinking water was readily available. Good location about halfway between the Zocalo and the Santo Domingo church.

Pepto Bismo pink room color was a bit odd. Single sink and shelving in bathroom was a bit cramped.

The location was perfect. Almost everything that we wanted to see and restaurants at which we wanted to dine were within a 5 - 10 minute walk from the hotel. The staff was great helping us with tour reservations and transportation whenever we needed it. There was also a cafe and restaurant there which made it really easy for breakfast every morning.

The roof area by the pool was lovely but didn't seem as nice as the rest of the hotel.
