I thought this was exceptional value for the money. Stayed on Sunday night in November. Room was clean, everything worked well. Having stayed twice now, i can recommend the food here, v good quality and portions. Excellent steak and ale pie, decent amount of steak! And really good smoked salmon(had both times), full of flavour and texture, probably locally sourced i would think. Wide choice at buffet breakfast too. Hotel a bit old fashioned and ideally could do with revamp, but this is not really an issue for me, i am more price sensitive....! Good for citylink coaches from and to Fort william which stop a few hundred yards away.

nothing stood out as being poor.

The location is really good with incredible views. Breakfast is perfect with beautiful view on the lake. Staff was very warm, welcoming and makes you fill like home)), especially gentlemen at the reception breakfast desk. Parking neither big nor small, we found a spot easily and it’s just in front of the building. The building of the hotel is a bit outdated, but really taken care of! There is an amazing hiking route with stunning views, which starts just 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel. The Cobbler hiking trail.

Our room was on the first floor and could clearly hear the neighbors floor sound above us)

Location. This hotel has beautiful views of the Loch and the hills. Reception area is welcoming with good space and seating areas. Bedrooms are clean and a decent size with TV and tea/coffee making facilities. This is a dog friendly hotel and we were with many other dog owners on Nov 5th who had come to Arrochar to avoid the noise of the Guy Fawkes fireworks in the city. The hotel is clean with no dog smells, mess or barking. Amazing! The breakfasts are fabulous with all you could want for a good Scottish breakfast. If you’re a dog owner, your breakfast seating is at the tables seating area of reception. It’s all set up for you and you go thru to the main dining room to peruse your buffet breakfast. Highly recommend and staff are polite, friendly and helpful.

Nothing.

Well reading the reviews I was a bit dubious about booking. On arrival I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. X My room was spotless and clean. The shower didn't work but I had a bath so that was fine by me. Beds were comfortable and bedding was clean. The staff were very approachable and polite and done their best to accommodate everyone I saw go onto them. Yes it's an old hotel and maybe had a lick of paint since last reviews but I absolutely loved my stay and found it very good value for money. I do like quaint old hotels though and the location was beautiful and within short driving distances to where I wanted to go. Will definitely book to stay again.

The shower didn't work

Friendly place, staff were very good and helpful. The position of the hotel is really superb and the views from the room were fabulous. The beds are comfortable and the rooms clean. Although the place is dated and requiring quite a lot of cosmetic work, it still offers tremendous value for money. I really think anyone expecting silver service and fine dinning at this price point, are being rather unfair. So, as long as you temper your expectations you'll have a perfectly enjoyable stay.

It needs some tlc, the decor is dated and badly worn in places. Water stains on ceilings in room and bar, thread bare carpets in places, little bit of mould on the ceiling in the bathroom. Fine details and if I was paying a higher price, then I would be disappointed but it very good value and the staff are doing a great job.

My room, facilities and breakfast were all absolutely fine and really excellent value for money. Great lochside location in a beautiful part of Scotland. Very comfortable room. Friendly, courteous staff. I'd happily stay here again!

Not a problem for me as I wasn't wanting to sleep at that point, but there was live music downstairs which was reverberating loudly in my second floor bedroom. It was finished by 10pm which is reasonable enough, just maybe check ahead if you are wanting an earlier night than that and see if you can request a room in a quieter part of the hotel.

The hotel location is absolutely stunning. You can walk from the front door and see the most beautiful scenery. Considering I paid £42 for a single room with breakfast buffet it was an absolute steal. I was pleasantly surprised to have a double bed in my room as I was expecting just a single. I ran a lovely bath nice hot water and then went for a lovely walk to the nearby chip shop for dinner. The bed was comfortable and the room was cosy. The breakfast the next day had everything you could want and the view from my table was stunning. Very pleasant solo trip i'd recommend this hotel to anyone and will be back with my family very soon!

There is actually nothing I didn't like tbh! I wasn't expecting 5 star lol it had everything a 3 star would have!

For the cost of a one night stay with breakfast this the hotel was OK. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was tired and needed a makeover, but it was clean. The bed was a single, with a single size duvet which kept falling off, a larger duvet is definitely needed. The bar was reasonably well stocked and the barstaff very friendly. The evening meal menu was limited, no smaller snacks or meals and a little overpriced. Breakfast is a buffet and I arrived early enough to find it still hot, it tasted fine.

Needs an injection of cash I think, just to update the hotel and rooms. A better menu needed, especially for bar snacks.

The hotel is in a great location. Great as a staging post if you want to explore further north and ideal to explore the nearby lochs. The room I stayed in (123) had a nice view of loch long and the room itself was comfortable. The buffet breakfast was ok with plenty of choice of hot items (bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, tomatoes, haggis, black pudding, fried slice, baked beans, hash brown) and there were also cereals, pastries, toast with various spreads such as marmite and jams. Hot drinks were supplied by a machine which offered various coffees. The staff were friendly.

The hotel is looking like it needs a bit of love. The entrance carpet is badly stained and the shower cubicle has a little bit of mould but these are really small niggles and shouldn’t stop anyone from using this hotel.

we travelled by Motorbike and used the hotel as a base to ride out from each day. we stayed for 5 nights and had a great stay yet again. the room was great, with a view of the Loch... James and the staff again were fantastic, nothing to much trouble. we stayed HB. Breakfast .... OMG outstanding ... so much choice, it really did set us up for the day, ate to much so it made the riding a little slow until we had burnt off some calories .. lol... the evening meal was OK, but it did repeat its self a few times, but was very nice...

we had a great stay.... However the internet was woeful. it was problematic in that i was not able to adjust or download routes for the days rides... its sad i know but we live our lives via the internet and some times i needed to do some work but couldn't because of the poor signal... one night because the meal choice was repeated again we chose to eat off the main menu...
