Glorious old building bursting with character. Even a standard room felt huge due to the high ceilings. Mid century, charming furnishings with a lofty modern twist; including two comfy chairs and a table aswell as the standard desk etc. A speaker for music in the room was an awesome touch. ACTUAL MUGS and not paper cups. Beautifully clean throughout. Staff were helpful, friendly and organised a room on a higher floor as per our request (the first time a hotel has actually been able to accommodate this for us in a long time!)

Extremely menial things such as: The TV being a little outdated (poor picture and sound) and the soaps were very strong smelling (all with sage which was a bit unpleasant), neither thing affected our stay.

The decor was really nice. The receptionist added late check out for free when we asked (Should have been an additional £10 per hour). The room was super clean.

The hair dryer caught fire (as in flames started blowing out of the back) while we were using it. Took it down to reception and they didn't apologise or anything. Just said "thanks for letting us know". The room was absolutely BOILING hot. Heating seemed to come on at about 3am and was way too hot to sleep. There was a fan in the room though so it could have been worse! A cleaner walked in on me without knocking while I was naked which was a shock! She was very apologetic though.

Dining, waited 15 mins to take the order, then had to stop one of them to order, coffee and orange came quickly but the VERY long wait for food the coffee was COLD. The hash brown did not order, the knife was so blunt could not cut the burnt toast. 2 of the 3 eggs came poached OK. The table next to mine was not cleared after my 30min+ breakfast, NOT good enough, others also not cleaned. The VERY low camp bed was a surprise, normal bed PLEASE

The staff was incredibly kind, helpful, and very sharply dressed. Check in took all of 2 minutes. I sat in the restaurant in the morning and had a latte and smoked salmon croquette with hollandaise sauce while Oscar, my server, enthusiastically gave me suggestions for how to spend my day. Everything fun was within walking distance of the hotel including the gay district, restaurants, karaoke bars, Chinatown, thrift stores, and artisan shops. And the hotel kindly offered to hold my bags for me as I wandered around the next day! The room was clean, beautifully decorated, and the green tiled bathrooms add such an elegant vibe. Highly recommend staying here and I'll definitely be back.

Loved its quirky and individual character and that it was not your run of the mill accommodation…..location was brilliant, very central for shopping and for travel to the Etihad Stadium where we went for a concert……also the arranged offsite parking was very close to the hotel and discounted for residents of hotel on registering your car on arrival……..would recommend this hotel for a stay in Manchester and would definitely stay there again.

The only one downside during our stay was that the lift was out of order over the whole of the weekend and we were staying on 3rd floor and there didn’t appear to be a back up if you were not able to do the stairs.

I most enjoyed the big, comfy bed! It was a quiet room, has a great shower, and was tidy. The staff were helpful and accommodating. The location was great, and allowed for a lot of sightseeing. An overall pleasurable experience.

The room was a little small for the price. Some elements such as the heater and towel warmers were not functioning, and we received mixed information during our stay as to why (at first it was user error, only later to find that they were turned off for the summer season ~ which, considering the weather, this year, didn't make much sense, but would've been good to know, earlier in).

The room had a great sitting area and I appreciated the design. Loved the Nespresso machine in the room. The bed was so comfortable! One of the best hotel sleeps I've had because of the soft bed. Great shower and water pressure was perfect. I appreciated the Dyson room fan (the AC was not working). The location right by the train station was perfect, since I was just there for one night and needed to catch an early train.

Like other people comment, there was a wall AC, but it did not work. It had an electrical error signal, so it was not a quick fix. There was a Dyson fan, which helped, but the room was warm.

The building has been well restored retaining many original features. There is a sense of history and confidence. The room was spacious and comfortable. The reception staff were helpful. The location is excellent, a short walk from Piccadilly Gardens and the main shopping areas.

We were a bit disappointed by the service in the restaurant (Bistro Abode). We went there on our first night for a cocktail/drink and we were made to feel unwelcome, as though we were disturbing the one member of staff on duty. Maybe we were as there were no other customers. Unsurprisingly, we did not return in the evenings. Breakfast was better but somehow the bistro staff seemed to lack the ability to be really welcoming and friendly.

Hotel is beautiful full of character. Unfortunately the mattress was extremely soft. This issue I raised with 2 staff. Seemingly all beds are the same. I stayed in room 109. The household lady Carol on overhearing me talk about the bed apologised as she hadn't heard anything since 8am that morning. She was finished her shift this was about 6pm but she roped in a colleague Heather and the 2 set about improving the bed by adding 2 double duvets under the sheet. I really appreciated this and was v thankful for her care. I slept a little better.

The staff were so welcoming and helpful. The room was a really good size, the bed was really comfy and it was huge! The bathroom facility’s were excellent. We had a couple of situations that needed sorting out and the staff were very accommodating and so helpful.

In our first room the aircon didn’t work and neither did the tv remote (I know who watches tv away, but my partner pops the tv on while I get ready), but we told reception and he was so lovely and tried to initially reset the aircon, but unfortunately it didn’t work and the room was so hot! We were offered to move rooms which we did, and it was perfect. Had a couple of instances where our key card wouldn’t work but again it was sorted swiftly by staff.
