This was my favourite accommodation in our Iceland trip. It’s a beautiful lodge and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. There are two hot tubs perfectly placed overlooking the vast plains. The rooms are decorated with Nordic feel. I also like the little touches of quality like the shower gel, hand soaps which I later found to be a premium organic Islandic brand. The duvet was soft and bed comfortable. This accommodation is a special place that made our trip extra special.

I wish the property served dinner. I think they used to. Would have loved to try their food.

Really tranquil, peaceful location - it's only just off the main road but you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. The room was great - more spacious than we thought, very warm and cozy, and plenty of room to park our car just outside. When we arrived there was still a buffet dinner being served until 9pm - it was around £40 each but it was delicious, plenty of choice, and the lamb was fantastic! We had a drink at the bar afterwards, it's a lovely place to sit. The two hot tubs outside are also very warm, so much so that we didn't feel the freezing temperatures at all by the time we walked back to our room. We sat there at night to watch the aurora borealis, and again at dawn to watch the sunrise, and it was a magical experience. It was a really convenient location for us to stay overnight, between our day at the Golden Circle, and the next day sightseeing along the south coast. Having a car is essential for getting there really, but it's a normal gravel track down there so a standard hire car is no problem. All in all, we loved our stay here, and wish it could have been for longer than one night!

Great location. We chose it as it was fairly central to places we wished to visit along the south coast and it looked like it would be a dark area during the night for viewing the aurora. Rooms were part of individual lodges with the restaurant/reception/breakfast being in a central lodge. Rooms were spacious and clean with coffee machines. Breakfast and restaurant served very nice food. Staff were exceptionally nice and chef was helpful making sure we were safe regarding allergies. Would he happy to visit again next time we are in Iceland.

Nice and clean hotel. The main building is very nice and has a very comfortable lounge area. The breakfast was delicious and the beds comfortable

The rooms are in separate bungalows. There are always 6 rooms in one bungalow. The room was quite small and dark. Unfortunately the light switch was right above the bed, so that we sometimes turned on the light in the middle of the night. Even though the hotel is in the middle of nowhere the bungalows are facing each other. Instead of looking at the beautiful landscape you look at the other bungalow. Our biggest issue was that all other guests had to pass our window and could look easily into our room and we could always hear them walking past.

Perfect location for northern lights. We would just pull our Car on the gravel road avoiding the hotel lights, and voila!! AURORA BOREALIS dancing over us. The hotel was easy to find. Good staff & good facilities. Excellent breakfast (Croissants are to die for) Our room had clear view of mountains... room was decent size. Rooms were cleaned by staff everyday. I could not find anything dirty even if I tried lol Shower is really small, but no other issues.

Apparently it's an Iceland thing to provide individual blankets but we would have preferred to have a big blanket to cover both of us.

Great experience…. Perfect location away from the city… yet easy to travel from. Food was amazing and the hot tub was a really nice bonus

Not I didn’t like, more suggested improvements. A proper barista coffee machine. A well made coffee would be nice Beach towels for guests, this would be great when visiting hot springs etc The fire in the lobby was not lit every evening. It’s nice to have it lit so guests can enjoy, rather than having to ask each time

My wife and I spent five nights here in Nov 2023 and had an absolutely wonderful time. The staff are without exception super friendly, polite and helpful. We stayed in a superior room and were able to watch out for the Aurora through the window without having to sit waiting in the cold. Once spotted we wrapped up warm and sat outside on the deck to take in the show in all its glory. Its location is perfect for site seeing with a hire car. We were easily able to complete the Golden Circle, and reach out as far as Svartifoss from there. It was also possible to eat breakfast and reach Vik for a glacier tour starting at 08:45hrs. The breakfast was excellent, all you could wish for and catering to all tastes. The Superior Room was snug but had everything we needed. It was warm and very comfortable. The shower was hot and very powerful, just what was needed after being out all day site seeing in the cold. There was no restaurant to eat in the evening but they were able to offer hot soup with bread which was excellent. If a more sizeable meal is required, there are plenty of places to eat near by in Hvolsvöllur. There is a lovely little bar with super comfy seating and an excellent ambiance which opens until 22:00hrs. A big thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

It would be good if you were able to switch off the light immediately outside the door to the chalet.

A hot tub and a view were amazing, also very pleased by breakfast and small cakes :) Very relaxing, great location, I loved the stay overall.

We had very loud neighbors and we could hear every noise through the walls and outside on the terrace (when there was aurora they were slamming doors and running around) even when it was way too late at night and I needed some rest. But I understand the concept of this place, just wish people were more considerable.

It's a great area if you don't want to join one of those aurora hunting groups. You can just relax in your room and look out from your window, you'll see the lights-if it is a clear night. If you rent a car, you can travel to Glacier Lagoon in 3 hours 20 min, or you can be in Reykjavik in 1,5 hours. Breakfast is very very good and if you don't want to go out for dinner, you can just have a bowl of delicious soup prepared by their chef. Or you can sit by the fireplace in the lobby and drink your wine and look for northern lights.

It's no luxury but you get everything what you need. I can't find anything negative.

Beautiful cabins on the outskirts of Hvolsvöllur. Cute, clean, comfortable rooms and delicious fresh breakfast every morning. Would definitely recommend having dinner here too, we did 2/4 nights and it was incredible both nights. It was nicely located for what we wanted to see around the Golden Circle too.

The road to the property is awful and bumpy, avoid coming straight from the main road go into town and access the property from the side.
