The hotel met every expectation. The restaurant was superb, and the Christmas dinner was one to remember. Breakfast was also fast and easy, so you could get going to explore the area. There were more local lights than we expected, but the Northern lights barely made a show, so I can't opine on the area for viewing. The staff and owner made every attempt to make our stay enjoyable. We would definitely stay again.
Our room was small and it was difficult to regulate the heat. It was always too warm despite the heat being turned down all the way. The beds (we had the two twins) were very uncomfortable and small. They should put a warning on the shower faucet. My son and I burned our hands when we accidentally touched the wrong part of the handle.

This was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in--anywhere in the world! The attention to detail and the way the staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable was particularly special as we traveled at Christmas. Their little touches taught us about the Christmas folklore and was delightful. The food in the restaurant was delicious, well priced and wonderful. Having a restaurant on site very convenient. The staff helped arranged special outings for us and, when weather delayed our best efforts, helped us to reschedule in a pinch. The special wake up service was a great touch, even though we didn't get to see the Northern Lights, we slept well knowing they would make sure we did see them if they appeared! All around incredible and we plan to come back!
We do not have a single complaint.

The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The onsite restaurant served excellent food. I appreciated that the breakfast was generous and was included in the cost of the stay. The drinks and cocktails were well crafted. Above all, the stay was made memorable by the staff (Gabriella, Aleksandra, and the lovely Icelandic lady with the gray Lopapeysa sweater), all of whom were attentive and welcoming. It was especially nice to make the acquaintance of Fredirik (the owner), an interesting and pleasant man whom one might find seating guests. Fredirik takes pride in his hotel and makes one feel at home.
There wasn’t a thing I disliked about my stay at Hotel Renga.

The attention to detail throughout the entire facility was very impressive, including the fresh milk, slippers, chocolate on the pillows, and welcome drinks. We enjoyed spending some time at the observatory as well as time in the room which was outfitted with a smart TV that was useful. The restaurant and bar was world class and one of the best dinners we have ever had - Lamb fillets and Reindeer special steak. The drinks were also amazing and elaborate and all championed local ingredients. The free breakfast was the best we have had on our trip and included a large variety of items that would appeal to every person. Parking was large and easily fit every car.
The only thing could be improved would be the shower - which is the typical Iceland double door shower except this one had seals on the bottom of the doors which did not contain the water very well in our shower. Either improving the shower door sealing or grading within the shower to funnel water towards the drain.

We loved everything about Hotel Rangá. The staff were all lovely and super helpful. The room was really comfortable with a lovely jacuzzi bath in the en-suite. We were lucky to have a north facing room so got a really good view of the Northern Lights. There is an aurora wake up service but we were already up mesmerised by the show outside. The observatory was open on the night we stayed too which was really interesting. We did not eat in the restaurant in the evening but breakfast the next day was one of the best we’ve had in Iceland. So much choice with hot and cold options. We will definitely return in the future.
Nothing. It was all great.

We loved everything about this place. We were able to upgrade to a suite after we arrived and I would recommend that to everyone. The dinners were great and the lounge area and the bar were perfect. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Not to mention that they have a call service you can sign up for that rings your room if the Northern Lights come out...... Just fantastic
Everything was great, would recommend to everyone. My wife and I only wished we could have spent more time at the resort. We did a lot of traveling and made this our home base for 4 days

We chose Hotel Rangá for our short break over Christmas, partly in the hope that we would see the Northern Lights. We didn't (!) but we still loved our stay. The staff were excellent - very friendly, helpful and knowledgable (provided very good advice about which roads were passable etc). The food was excellent with a good choice of dishes. The location was ideal with lots of the key sites within relatively easy reach. Another hi-light for us were the hot tubs which we sat in to watch the very slow sunsets over the beautiful river view.
The bedroom wasn't quite our style - old fashioned ski chalet style and quite small, but we knew this when we booked and it certainly wouldn't put us off booking again.

Benchs on the mini-outdoor patio Views in the dinning room All staff members encountered The lounge loft area Ear plugs and mask in draw in night stand. Free car charging Attention to detail
I would recommend doing something about the over-large tub shower. A retractable curtain would go a long way to prevent a wet floor and also add some privacy while sharing the bathroom. Another thought would be to forego the tub (since there are many hot tubs outside) and do a modern rain shower/wand combo with a wall and some floor tile with a drain. Excessive moisture and heat in July is a problem - a ceiling fan would go a long ways to address this and distribute air during all seasons.

We loved our two night stay at Hotel Ranga, a unique, beautiful hotel in a spectacular location convenient to the Golden Circle and south coast. We loved every aspect of our stay, particularly the beautiful places to sit and relax through the hotel, the beautiful artwork, Aurora wake up calls and the observatory (although unfortunately the weather was not clear during our stay). The breakfast, dinner and delicious cocktails were a highlight as were the helpful and friendly staff. Thank you to all at Hotel Ranga for making our stay truly memorable.

The food here is amazing and the staff are super accommodating. Each room has a veranda to overlook the river that runs through the property. Views are spectacular.
I ended up getting the Asian suite, which is somewhat off-putting. I am not sure why this suite exists. The rice paper doors hide everything on the left side of the room and the bed is on a high step. The bathroom is quite interesting with a traditional wooden box for a tub. Every time you take a shower, the floor is flooded. I should have requested to move because it wasn't comfortable for the money being spent.
