Amazing spot, the sunsets on the mountains were incredible. The whole place is a lot of fun. Kids loved the animals and the host was happy to hand out carrots and things to feed the horse and the chooks. The pool was great and the cabin was great. We spotted Platypus! The bathroom is good, the kitchen was easy to use, we cooked for a family of 4. Lots of outdoor space for the kids to investigate. Really fun place.

It’s not super modern - If you are looking for the Instagram vibe this is not for you. Its not so much about the look as it is about you get what you see in the pictures provided. But we were looking for a fun quiet getaway the service and the things to do at the property more than make up for it not being an Instagram hot spot. Which we were more than happy to avoid. If you looking for somewhere to get away and chill this is amazing.

There is no word describing how nice was our stay. The cabin is big, really comfy with everything needed for a cosy stay. The bubble bath with the view over the mountain is unbeatable. Same with the big window from the room over Mt Roland ! The property is huge and really peaceful to walk around. On top of that John's, the owner, was so nice, full of knowledge about the flore and fauna. He gave us the perfect honeymoon gift by recommending us the Tasmanian Arboretum on our very last day before leaving so we could see some platypuses. Which we did ! It was amazing, thanks again for everything

John is the owner of this family-run retreat and was really welcoming and accomodative of our (rather extensive) requests. The cottage size was easily sufficient for four adults, kitchen well equipped, and the location and surroundings were wonderful - extremely quiet and peaceful. I was originally looking to stay within Cradle Mountain but it turned out that it was much more peaceful and close to nature here than in the observeably busy resorts on site there - and at only a 40min or so drive from the national park, it's a great place to make your base. The views of being right under the mountains were also superb, especially around sunset. Watching the chickens being fed in the morning and the goose and duck on the lake in the sunset was really wonderful.

I must admit I was expecting it would be easier to see native animals staying here given the photos - we did see some small wallabies at night but couldn't take photos as they only came out well after dark. Also, there seemed to be only one portable heater (with the main heater in the living room) so it was a little cold in the bedrooms at night - fine once we took out the extra blankets provided.

The cottage was very clean, the surroundings were very well maintained. John was very sweet and helped with loads of information. We had a great time with all the animals at the farm and enjoyed our short stay.

There was nothing we din’t like about the property. Wish the wifi was more stable but it was totally ok given the location. Wish there was some food available at the retreat , but the nearby town had decent options & an IGA.

The view is fabulous and it was a very relaxing setting. Wish I could be back there now. The kids loved the pool even though it was winter, the cat and all the other animals, and the silver mine was a big highlight of their holiday. For me, I loved the spa with a view - it was a a relaxing way to end each day. John was very responsive and was a great host. He provided lots of detailed information about the local food and sightseeing options and about his property (its history, the animals etc).

Our kids didn't like the tank water, but we just bought some bottled water for them in town.

Being on a rural property with a large mountain close by. Only 11 km out of the closest town with good facilities. The owner was a friendly person with a lot of knowledge to share. Very hospitable.

Maybe some other channels available on the TV rather than using all the ABC links from around the country as the programming is the same. Some bathroom soap.

Beautiful setting! We had a relaxing time here and the host was very helpful and friendly. There’s even an information book with suggestions for walks, restaurants and activities to do in the local area. Check in was easy and the room was very clean, spacious and had a comfy bed. We spent time at Cradle mountain which is about a 35 minute drive away and Sheffield is just 10 minutes down the road which had places to eat and a supermarket. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

We were given a cottage with a full kitchen as a free upgrade as we were wanting to be able to cook, this made all the difference being in a beautiful rural setting. The scenery from your front door is absolutely amazing we loved sitting outside on the nearby table and chairs to eat dinner with a view. So peaceful and quiet and very convenient to get into Cradle Mountain from the property. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. 100% reccomend.

Stunning, relaxing surrounds. Very peaceful. Beautiful on the eyes. Very comfortable room, stunning views and overall unforgettable experience. Will forever remember our 2 night stay over. John and Justin were very friendly and helpful.

The water, I understand there is not much one can do about it but wouldn't have booked spa bath room if I knew the bath water was going to be so brown and foamy with the first bath. Didn't deter from having a wonderful time in our room.

Spectacular view of Mount Roland from the garden. There were excursions from the hotel to coal mine. Could see lots of wild life. Great place if you are heading to cradle mountain. Staff was very helpful in providing information and arranging washing and drying facilities. Pool was spacious and worm.

Could have upgraded with new kitchen amenities. You need to bring water for drinking and cooking as water seems different in colour and taste
