The StandardX Hotel has it all—modern facilities with a playful mid-century pop aesthetic, a convenient location next to the 96 tram stop and Rose Street Makers Market, and a fantastic rooftop with incredible city views. The pet-friendly accommodations were perfect for our Samoyed, and the service was absolutely stellar.

While The StandardX is amazing overall, there are a few quirks worth noting. The bathroom is separated from the room by a transparent glass feature, so privacy goes out the window if you’re staying with friends. Also, the shower design isn’t the best—water seeps out onto the rest of the bathroom floor, soaking the bath mat. Another surprise was discovering that the gym is actually Snap Fitness next door, which you can only access by borrowing a key fob from the front counter—something the hotel didn’t communicate clearly beforehand. Lastly, the drinks and snacks in the hotel’s mini shop were pretty limited, which was a bit disappointing.

Well located in Fitzroy (great neighbourhood) so many amazing restaurants and shops nearby Tram station about 2 mins away Beautiful hotel, well decorated is an understatement The room is great and has so many nice additions (you can open the window! Portable speaker, dressing gowns, etc) Lovely lobby with comfortable and calm places to sit The rooftop is amazing for sunset views Kind staff, receptionist switched rooms around so we could check in 2 hrs early Late check out of 12pm Would without a doubt stay here again.

It’s true that the bathrooms are frosted glass walls & door. Not an issue for us as a couple but could be problematic in other situations

Loved the hotel interior and the room was very comfortable. We had a balcony room which was great for us. We had been away for 4 weeks and a lot of bags, and very glad we picked this room as I believe most of the other rooms are much smaller. Staff were exceptional.

There aren't many/any facilities e.g. gym, spa or pool, but I did know this upon booking. There is a roof top which is beautiful, but other than that, the hotel doesn't really have any facilities on site that you would expect from a 5* hotel. However this didn't bother us too much as there are good local fitness studios.

The whole experience was lovely! From the pre arrival check in to the very last day i had such a great experience. Everyone was super lovely, the hotel and facilities were brand new and hip and cool and unique. Both functional and aesthetic. Wld definitely go back for another visit!

Training the night shift front desk staff better. I had called up one night asking for the 24hr Room service and was told by him that there was no food at all, only to be notified by the day shift staff that was not true. Another night I asked another enquiry regarding hotel facilities and he could not give me an answer asking me to ask front desk in the morning.

the room was lovely and quirky, the staff were so friendly, helpful and prompt/quick. the restaurant within the hotel downstairs was delicious and extended to the room service (which we ordered for the first time ever). loved the location, the ease of everything - such good value for money.

this might be very particular and is also common in hotels/accommodation but my partner and I didnt like the pillows - they werent really supportive (i know, clutching at straws). and there wasnt a table and chair in the room but this could be because of the room I booked. these are really little things that didnt negatively impact our stay really.

Beautiful rooms, although small, they have everything you need and the bed was super comfortable. Great location and loved the interior design. Location across from the markets was amazing!

The bathrooms weren’t perfect. The sink drain has a bit of a smell to it that wasn’t the nicest and the shower would put water all across the bathroom once you were done. Could do with some improvements on staff. Our check in person was lovely but apart from that the staff seemed pretty cold and never greeted us when leaving or arriving. They all stood in a group at the front chatting and staring but not actually saying hello.

The StandardX is a trendy hotel in Fitzroy. We enjoyed exploring the area around the hotel. The front desk staff were lovely and helpful. There is no gym in the building, but a pass to a gym 10 minutes walk away is available. The place smelt incredible—I'm just sad the scent was not available for purchase. The king bed is very luxurious and comfortable.

We couldn't seem to adjust the temperature/thermostat in the room- it kept defaulting to 19C without actually feeling that cold. So, despite the air conditioning being on, it was very hot overnight. The body wash in the shower was nearly empty even on the day we checked it. I requested it be refilled the next day, but it was again missed during room-keeping and only got filled after asking a second time. There are no black-out blinds/curtains in the room. No toilet brush in the toilet. If travelling with a friend, the bathroom door is somewhat see through so make sure your friendship is at that level.

Amazing and cool hotel in perfect location, in the middle of Fitzroy close to all the restaurants and bars (Vegie Bar, Industry Beans and Naked for Satan highly recommended!). Super easy to get into city centre on tram or walking! Staff were so friendly and helpful with their advice about getting around and where to visit. Beautiful bottle of wine left in our room with congratulations card for our honeymoon. Delicious food at the hotel restaurant and complimentary cocktails were given due to our 24 hour arrival delay due to plane issues (this was so appreciated!). Cool shop and DJ in reception. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Architecturally interesting from the exterior. We had a balcony room and appreciated the fresh air. The room was comfortable and I particularly liked the space-saving pull-down desk. Bathroom is a decent size with fluted glass wall/door, door handles were slots cut out of the glass; not a solid enclosure if privacy's an issue. Front desk staff are friendly and efficient. Some of the restaurant/bar staff are excellent (Eli), others are still getting up to speed as the hotel has not long been open. Paid parking available opposite.

Didn’t eat breakfast. Drinks in bar both nights. Pleasant helpful but disorganised on second night with wait person trying to charge us for the bar tab for the party of 4 next to us. Difficult at times to catch the eye of the same person who was moving around the dining room but not looking at the diners. We were trying to catch her eye and later found out she’d not entered the missing drink with my desert order. The other wait person was very professional. We loved the decor quiet and comfortable bedding. Would love to buy the pillows please?

Despite a request on booking, a text message response to requests, and my telephone call and on arrival to request blankets only 1 room had a throw when we returned to the hotel that night. More staff training in bar, would enhance the experience.
