This is one of the few antique buildings to have survived the several fires that have torn through Collingwood since the mid-19th Century. It's beautiful, charming and comfortable. We had Room 4, on the front, with loads of space, a lovely bed, an adjacent breakfast room, and (of course) a shower room & toilet. Our hostess, Sylvi, could not have been nicer. Collingwood makes a great place -- almost the only convenient place -- to base yourself for exploring Cape Farewell and Farewell Spit. We've been out here three times. Great walks. Fantastic scenery!

I wouldn't say "I didn't like" this, but customers should be aware that this is not a "self-catering" place: although you have a microwave and a little fridge, you can't cook here.

Quaint old Police house furnished and decorated in the style of its day. Large bedroom with attached dining room and kitchen accessories and separate bathroom. Great shower and very good water pressure. Laundry available with honesty box system. Pleasant helpful hostess.

Tv didn't appear to be working, not that it really bothered us. The lack of a sink for doing our dishes was a disadvantage, but Sylvie took them away each morning to wash them for us. Warning - watch for the wee step down to where the single bed is located or you may take a fall (as l did)

very difficult to find accomodation for one night minimum as mostly only 2 night stays. We zipped over from Nelson to show a visitor Golden Bay. this was perfect for a couple and 1 extra person, privacy with all kitchen amenities great shower toilet, garden space. Friendly quick service extra towels... absolutely no problem with anything. Good old kiwi historic home that was warm! Thank you we will be back.. Cafe next door opened at 8am for fantastic breakfast!! after sunrise beach walk with the locals.

A wonderfully appointed studio room with a wealth of options for cooking a meal. A comfortable sofa for watching TV or just relaxing and a comfortable bed with good reading lights and a dining table. Great communication from the host. Lovely big bath towels and a great shower. Pretty garden view.

This place deserves more than a night's stay - but there's not much to Collingwood. We were headed to Farewell Spit before going to Westport.

Darren was a most personable host. We enjoyed an immediate warm, friendly rapport with him. After going over recommendations for local points of interest, Darren gave us a walk through on the particulars of the spacious Family Cottage - large living/dining area, full kitchen, comfortable bedroom area (there was an additional separate bedroom with two twin beds which we did not use), and an ample bathroom. He even allowed us access to the on-site laundry. The cottage was less than half a block from the beach. This property epitomizes affordability and Kiwi hospitality!

As Darren explained, the new fiber optic WiFi was a little spotty, as it was just installed that same day. Surely it will be an excellent resource in the near future.

Our hosts were very welcoming, and they ensured that an electric blanket was provided for the single bed. Great bathroom and the bedroom was a decent size. Kitchenette was well equipped. Great location -easy walk to everything, including the Farewell Spit Tours - which is so worth the trip.

Nothing to complain about!

Due to travel issues, we had to communicate quite a lot with the owners due to very late arrival. They were exceptionally helpful, and made it all very easy for us. Excellent hosts, with a fabulous Garen Cottage for our stay. Outstanding.

Nothing to dislike

Darren is a great host - we enjoyed talking with him. The location was ideal for access to the activities in the town. We enjoyed walking to the places we wanted to visit. The rooms were clean and comfy, outlook on to the street.

There was nothing that we could say that could be done any better.

The Station House is a very characterful house in the centre of historic Collingwood, which has been tastefully decorated and equipped inside. Although the room is not large it was very comfortable and had all the facilities that I, as a solo traveller, needed.

All was good.

Really interesting character accommodation in Edwardian house. Lots of space. Central in Collingwood and next door to the excellent Courthouse Cafe. Good shower in the bathroom.

A bit hot in Summer: We were in large studio at the front of the main building. The bedroom has a large set of windows and can get hot in the late afternoon sun but these sash style windows are sealed so ventilation is difficult. Kitchen area windows do open.
