Cannery Row Inn was advertised as only being a 2-star hotel, so my expectations were low - I chose it for its location (near my friend's home). While the property is not posh, the room was large, very clean, and well appointed. The room had a partial ocean view, which was very visible when sitting on the balcony. The location was great - 20 minute walk to Cannery Row, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming.

The fireplace that "lights up" is laughable. The vending machines were out of order, so there truly were no amenities.

It was genuinely very clean! From the carpet to the bedding to the bathroom, I never felt unsure or hesitant (and I am a self-admitted clean freak). The shampoo was the best hotel shampoo I’ve ever used, even compared to very fancy hotels. The fireplace was amazing and actually heated the room efficiently. The location is excellent and central if you want to walk to the aquarium or to the pier for a whale watching tour. The space was larger than the average hotel room, the balcony was nice, and the fridge was huge. The employee who checked up in was pleasant and friendly.

It’s definitely older, and there were a few odd choices (like the bathroom mirror was very low and I had to do a semi-squat to do my hair and makeup) and it would have been nice to have a small table in the room with another mirror. The parking lot and outside area are more run down but the important part is the room which was clean and cozy.

Amazing location able to walk everywhere close to Cannery Row. This is not our first stay at Cannery Row Inn but it is our first stay in a Partial Ocean View room (room 215) and the view from our little balcony was AMAZING! The staff at the hotel could not have been more friendly, helpful and obliging in every way whenever we asked them something - they were especially super helpful in securing us the particular room we requested for our second stay (room 216) there during our trip for which for which we were so grateful! This hotel is not new and so there are some parts like the balcony that could use some TLC but we stayed there for the location and honestly it was perfect for us! I highly recommend room 215 if you are new to this hotel, the view is soo nicel Thanks to all the lovely staff at the hotel for making our stay so amazing!

Sometimes the toilet did not flush properly and the shower pressure changed and was very weak. The balcony was a little old looking and the fireplace made a lot of noise when we used it in the evening and the air conditioning was really loud when we used that in the day (it was very mixed temperatures when we stayed!) there was a large armchair in one room we had that was very frayed on the arms - so just a little bit of TLC in the rooms and a refresh on the balconies would go a long way - but these are only MINOR details!! The bed was soo comfortable and the hotel overall was very peaceful and we slept well. We would definitely stay there again.

What a lovely spot. The location is top notch, within walking distance to the Wharf and Cannery Row. The staff was super nice and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean. We found the bed to be just fine (some reviews mentioned how uncomfortable they and the pillows were, not our experience) and the towels, sheets, and overall space was very tidy. The partial ocean view from the patio was awesome! We could hear the sea lions barking at night and in the morning, what a treat to enjoy a cup of coffee in the chilly morning and be able to listen to them AND watch them frolick in the water! The room got pretty chilly in the evening and early morning, BUT the fireplace (electric) really warmed up the room nicely. All in all, would absolutely stay here again. Very reasonable price for a well situated room with an ocean view. (The pic is from the patio! A very nice partial view!)

Nitpicky things, by no means bad or deal breakers for staying here again! The channel line up on the TV is pretty small. Not that we spent a lot of time in the room watching TV, but at night, the selections were pretty thin. They do provide coffee beginning at 8am, which is super nice, but it would be spectacular if they did a breakfast option. Having a bagel and some fruit on the patio would be a wonderful way to start your day in Monterey! Some of the furniture was a bit worn, and the desk chair had some odd stains on it, but again, nothing major at all.

The room was AMAZING. The view from the balcony was more than I expected, and I have stayed here before! The bed, sheets, and bathroom are super clean. (The fridge, too!) The staff is so friendly, housekeeping was particularly awesome, and our room was spotless. This is the perfect spot for a romantic weekend getaway. You can hear the ocean, sea lions, and seagulls as you watch the sun set and the moon rise. Just a lovely, lovely spot.

Fantastic location, lovely room with fireplace and water view. Also has lift from car park which is always super helpful. We also arrived early and could go straight to our room as it was already ready. Very much appreciated.

Shower wasn’t as good as hoped for. A bit difficult to use. I had a shower which was extremely high pressure, but only the middle 3 shower nozzle jets were going. Felt like a fireman’s hose. My husband changed the shower head for his shower so that it was a full rain shower but there was very little pressure. He mentioned it was difficult to wash out shampoo because of the pressure.

The location was spot on, at the end of Cannery row, approximately just under fifteen minutes walking distance to the aquarium, and approximately 20 minutes walk to the fishermen’s quay. Central for us to sit and eat at places, and shops. The room was easily big enough for two, even with the king size bed, the heating was excellent, and the hot water was there in an instant. Ample parking, and very clean, we didn’t have much contact with the staff, but they seemed happy.

There was a slight smell in the room, we couldn’t say exactly what it was. It wasn’t a dirty smell, more like a chemical carpet cleaning smell, but that’s just a guess. After an initial couple of hours we didn’t even notice it! Shower head was fixed to the wall, but it only came up to chest level.

A night stay en-route to complete our West Coast portion of the legendary Route 66 with a night stopover at the property. Close to the Cannery Row Inn with ample free packing space. The property is as advertised and easy to get to the Cannery Row but sits in quite a quiet area away from the bustling traffic.

The decoration of the rooms seems dated but comfortable enough for a night's rest after the long drive from LA and just nice to continue to journey in the morning. Carpark is a plus for this property considering many around the area are charging a fee for parking in this small town.

The room was large, clean and comfortable. A refrigerator with freezer, microwave and Keurig coffee machine were provided and supplies replenished daily. Free parking for guests is convenient, with a lift providing access to each floor. It is a short walk to the shops and restaurants of Cannery Row and about a 10 minute walk to Old Fisherman’s Wharf, offering more food options and activities such as fishing or whale watching. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The view from the balcony, across a concrete courtyard, was uninspiring but you could sit out and enjoy the sea air.

Fantastic location. The fridge and microwave were useful. Staff friendly.

I booked two rooms. The family room did not have a plug to the bath. The plug hole had been adapted so you could not improvise. You cld only shower. We love our baths and had two very young children with us so we had difficulty at bedtime. It is a family room with a bath so you should be able to have a bath. I want to book again next year (this was our second visit) but I am a bit wary in case it happens again.
