It's a stylish boutique hotel in the Garment District, strategically located just 10 min walk to the Empire State Building or Broadway, 5 min to the Fifth Avenue and 30 min to the Central Park. The reception staff are friendly, polite and super efficient. I hadn't had more speedy check-in or check-out for years. Our Privilege room had 2 queen sized beds (which were very comfortable) and was spacious enough for New York. The mini bar was fully stocked and room amenities were pleasant.
Shower: the water pressure is too low and it takes 2-3 minutes for the running water to reach the comfortable temperature. Breakfast: there's no conventional hotel breakfast, a la carte is offered in the bistro. The choice is quite limited and the service is of variable friendliness

Great location. Staff were outstanding! Nice room - lots of space for 3 family members.
The room type we reserved indicated “expansive city views”…but we had one tiny window that looked over the back. That was a bit disappointing.

I was not sure about the Hotel to begin with. It seemed very dark, a bit too quirky for my taste, with a weird picture on my bedroom wall. Was it trying to be too clever, too different, providing an experience rather a comfortable setting? However, the Hotel really "grew" on me and I was really enjoying my stay there by the time I left. It felt very warm and welcoming. I enjoyed arriving at the dimly lit reception with its jazz music (sometimes live). The staff were so friendly and helpful. I enjoyed retreating to my room along the snaking corridors with their bewildering chequered patterns. I loved the roof terrace with its views of the Empire State building, and we had coffee and a snack there. We ate in Parker and Quinn restaurant. The hotel used to be a hat factory and I enjoyed the nods to its industrial past incorporated into the boutique hotel. The location is great.

We recently stayed at the Refinery Hotel, and while our stay started with an unexpected water damage issue in our room, the situation was handled reasonably well. Although the initial response wasn’t flawless, we were quickly given a new room, and the staff was very accommodating. The following day, the management approached us with exceptional sensitivity and kindness, leaving us with a positive impression of their professionalism. After all, it’s New York, and older buildings have their quirks—but apart from that incident, the hotel is in excellent condition. The rooms are well-equipped, and the staff is generally friendly and helpful. The rooftop terrace is a real highlight, offering a stunning view of the Empire State Building. The food and drinks there are excellent, making it one of the hotel’s standout features. The location is simply unbeatable—perfect for exploring the city. Personally, I much prefer staying in a chic boutique hotel like this one over the massive chain hotels elsewhere in the city. The gym, while not very large, is well-maintained and equipped with all the essentials. It’s perfect for a quick workout, which was exactly what we needed during our stay. All in all, the Refinery Hotel was a fantastic choice, and we look forward to coming back. A big thank you to the staff for their accommodating and thoughtful handling of the water damage—it was much appreciated!
There were just a couple of small downsides. The breakfast wasn’t bad, but considering you’re in New York, there are better options nearby—like Friedman’s Diner a few blocks south. Also, the rooftop terrace is sometimes closed for private events. While understandable, it would be helpful if the hotel provided more advance notice, as it disrupted our plans once or twice.

The hotel is in an excellent midtown location. It has a very “buzzy” feel about it and there is a great rooftop bar with a wonderful view of the Empire State building. There is also a jazz bar with live music. The front of house staff are first class and very helpful. The hotel combines being informal with First class facilities. Breakfast is taken in a pub style restaurant and is very good. The bedrooms are spacious. We had two very large queen beds and plenty of room with the sitting space. The bathrooms are large and everything is well appointed. I would highly recommend it for staying in a hotel which has a great feel in the heart of Manhattan

Nice welcome details in the room for our arrival. Loved the deco of our room and the bathroom. Bottles of water kindly provided every day at reception. Big and confortable room for a family of 4 with a ESB view from our window! Perfect location within walking distance to all main spots in Manhattan. Rooftop bar and terrace with superb ESB view! I will go back :-)

Good location, lovely big room. Comfortable beds. Very nice shower. The hotel text to see if you wanted anything which was a really nice touch. Friendly staff. Really nice that you could get tea & coffee in the morning and wine at the evening. Highly recommend the hotel.
The hotel is near Time Square so it’s busy outside at night time. It’s a very noisy location, but we asked for ear plugs for sleeping and that did the job.

"Keep smiling - it makes people wonder where you've been" This motto is nailing it. From pre-arrival communication to Front Desk to room to drinks and restaurant to door - outstanding service throughout! Our room had a lovely view of the Empire State Building, was spacious and equipped with everything you need. The bar and the restaurant offer great food and drinks, the Rooftop is great for a good time and the location is awesome to get to all the sights ans places you have in mind.

The location was fantastic. Lovely staff throughout the hotel. The room was spacious, clean, well laid out and the beds were extremely comfortable. Free bottles of water from reception were really handy. A lovely hotel overall.
The shower either had so much pressure it flew out of its holder or was just powerful enough for a hair wash. but we probably used it whilst water was in demand from other rooms too. tricky to get comfortable temperature too but not a big issue overall. we also hoped to eat on the rooftop the first night but had our reservation cancelled. plenty of other options close by though so didn’t matter.

Location, it’s close enough to everything
Particularly, nothing? I mean, it’s not bad at all, but at the same time, not offering the best value either. It’s just so so hotel with premium location and you just can’t expect anything else. Oh, one thing, maybe complementary water for everyday? They only give you the very first day, so, it would have been a nice touch to receive it everyday.
