Pool was closed but they still advertised it as open

great location by Lincoln Center, good for transport and Central Park. sweet little pool ideal for a cool down. roof terrace bar is comfortable and lively. room spacious by city standards, bed comfy, housekeepers efficient and friendly. best of all hotel was pretty quiet on tenth floor.

bathroom was shabby and tiny (great shower pressure though). AC noisy and not super efficient. lighting was quite dull as no main light. fine for reading in bed but hopeless for picking out clothes. no coffee maker disappointing as we had to leave the hotel for a cuppa in the morning (Starbucks right outside and a good bakery/coffee shop across the street), at night they were closed.

Beautiful hotel lots of great points Bed comfy Air con very much needed and used all week Location not far from Central Park /Columbus Circle Price very reasonable Cleaned/Bed made and towels when required through the week we stayed I would definately go back or recomnend.

DARK, DARK corridors ...why so dark ..barely any lighting and dark wall paper ... liken it to a horror movie when you first get out the lifts...roman blind in one window fully broken in our room 516 so half the room in darkness the full week ..did not ask to get fixed as im assuming its been broken a while and would have been reported by cleaning staff if it could be fixed it should habe been before someone was allocated the room.

I'd definitely stay here again! We have just returned from a week here. Firstly, the reviews are pretty accurate so I was glad for the heads up. However, for the price on the Upper West Side the pros certainly outweigh the cons. Pros -Location location location! It's such a lovely neighbourhood right opposite the Lincoln Centre. Great places to eat and drink around and the subway and bus stops are right outdoor. - the cleaners did such a fantastic job every day. Fresh towels, toiletries and an extremely clean room. -the bed was super comfortable! -WiFi worked great and excellent TV choice of channels - friendly staff. We had an issue with our air con and it was sorted straight away -the air con worked so so well which was really appreciated in the heat -the bar upstairs is lovely but yes it's run by another company. However we never needed to book. -free bottled water every day but you need to ask for it at reception! Overall, I'd recommend the Empire to friends. Yes there are nicer hotels but not at the price the Empire offers. Thanks for a fab stay!

Cons -yes the decor needs updating as it is looking quite tired.The stairways in particular was a mess but we just took the lift instead! -she asked for my card at check in as a safety deposit (standard). But they didn't mention this involved taking £114 out. Had to go down and check what the money taken out was before and I'm just waiting for this to be refunded now. They just need to make this clearer. -the air con is noisy. I'm a very light sleeper and had to turn it off but then there was also a noise. However, it was so powerful it was worth it! -the pool was tiny and looked very sad. It was also closed which seemed odd as it was sunny and even if there was rain forecast it had a cover on. -the bedroom lighting is really poor

The location is the absolute best, the main reason why I chose Empire. It's also an iconic hotel I always wanted to stay at. The lobby is nice and the staff terrific.

I paid a lot of money for a junior suite and the pictures let me on to believe I was getting a bigger room. The room was big and really bigger than I needed but once I entered the layout of it and the view wasn't nearly as nice and I was expecting. Fancy words and descriptions and promises of landmark views made me expect something much better so I was a little bit dissappointed with being on the fourth floor and only being able to see a tiny bit of columbus circle from one window on the fourth floor from the windom in the hallway in my room from where the door is. The two big windows by the bed only had views of a huge apartment building. So yes, that was dissappointing.

Staff was extremely helpful......we asked for a room facing the street instead of the courtyard....they had few rooms of our type facing the street but they found one and gave it to us........Room was good.....everything worked well......Rooftop Terrace / Bar and Restaurant is very nice.......The Hotel is so close to everything......Central Park, Subway, Lincoln Center, Restaurants.......and is in a safe neighborhood. Some of the rooms are a little dated but they are clean and all things considered we did not need a super modern room......Our room had free wifi as well.......and the curtains darkened the room perfectly so we could sleep in if we wanted to.......

Pool was closed but we knew this ahead of time.......A coffeemaker in the room would be a nice addition.....but Starbucks and several coffee shops immediately outside the Hotel.

Location was good, people working at the Hotel were good. We had a great night at the New Years Eve party

Room was near the hall so it was very noisy for some reason, alot of noise from outside the room. I also didnt like that I couldnt control the temp in the room. IT was very stuffy and I couldnt keep the windows open or turn the heat down,

The location is just perfect. The property is just a stones throw away from Central Park and train stations.The convenience of having a Starbucks right in the building was a delightful bonus. The lobby was truly exquisite, and it served as a comfortable and productive workspace for hours on end. The hotel's policy of allowing access to the pool and rooftop even after checkout added great value to our stay. The rooftop was a highlight, boasting breathtaking views, especially at night. Plus, the option to store luggage after checkout was incredibly convenient. Overall, the hotel offered a perfect blend of convenience, comfort, and stunning views that made my stay truly memorable.

The pool was very small and didn’t have shower area. I wish they made it bigger.

I love this hotel. The location was fantastic. The reviews on this hotel had me nervous about my stay but given the time of year it was the best value hotel and location was great so we booked it. I am so glad we did. I think the reviews are very harsh. I am very fussy when it comes to hotels and I loved this hotel. Housekeeping phoned the room the days we had the do not disturb sign on the door and checked to see if we wanted the room cleaned or not. The staff were so helpful. I kept getting an error from booking.com saying my card details were invalid and to update them or we would lose the booking. This error occurred several times despite checking there were no issues with our bank and the hotel directly. I got this message again just before our flight so emailed the hotel to confirm there are no issues with the card and not to cancel the booking. They confirmed this was not an issue on their side and all was OK. On check in we were looked after by Adam who was so lovely and helpful during our stay. The rooms are so comfy and clean. The air con and heating all worked perfectly. There are no coffee machines in the room but this did not bother us in the slightest as there is a starbucks right beside the hotel and also a Duane Read so is handy for picking up late night snacks after a busy day sightseeing. The TV had lots of channels which was ideal for when we wanted a break from sight seeing to watch a few world cup games. Cannot wait to stay again.

That I had to leave to go home :)

Excellent location, next to central park, walking distance to museums. Next to underground station to visit downtown, walking distance to time square, the railway walk, edge, meat packing for meal etc.

Room abit bigger, but large very comfortable bed 😊
