Leonardo Royal Hotel (43 Jeffreys Street, Old Town, Edinburgh) is strategically located for exploring Edinburgh Old Town on foot. The Main train station was only a 3' walk away, and shops and restaurants about a 12' - 15' walk away. The hotel staff were very courteous and helpful at all times - especially the reception people who made our stay so much more easy and comfortable. Room 626 was spacious and fully equipped. Wi-Fi was free and effective. The hotel was in very good decorative order. The sound insulation was very effective. Room care and breakfast were excellent. We had a memorable stay at Leonardo Royal Hotel!

Given that we stayed in a triple room, we expected three luggage bag stands and at least two chairs.

This Hotel is within walking distance to town, the Royal Mile and good Pubs with very good food.

This Hotel seems to cater more for Bus Tours than other quests too. It showed in the budget Breakfast provided. We had an early morning Bus Trip to catch for the day. But were told we could not have Breakfast early as the Breakfast was only open to Bus Tour quests and that we would have to wait until later. The staff member was very rude. The rooms are very warm. The Restaurant in the evening was run by a group of young kids that just wanted to clown around. Very unprofessional.

Location is great, breakfast is good, and staff are generally pleasant.

Overall the room is a bit tired. It would truly deserve the 4-star rating (and the price) if the carpets could be renovated.

Location of hotel is just amazing ! Perfect spot ! Staff were super friendly and really helpful! Complementary drinks was nice touch also glass of Prosecco on check in . Hotel has nice decor, was clean and smell always nice ! Our room was clean and specious with TV and mini fridge ! amazing was Nespresso coffee machine with complementary coffee pods makes our mornings even better! Really recommend!

The room was very comfortable and all amenities were provided. It is located right across the train station in the city centre and it was very convenient and close to all attractions. The staff members were very friendly and they did their best to help. They really went above and beyond to help me with my queries. The hotel has very speedy internet and easy casting option to the TV so you can watch whatever you want from your devices. The rooms have kettle, espresso machine and complimentary tea/coffee.

Showers don't have a door and no matter what you do, your bathroom gets really wet. I wouldn't say it is a huge thing but still your bathroom floor gets soaked after a shower.

Overall ok hotel Reception staff a bit rude, a group of young girls just talking to each other As mentioned by other guests there is a construction going on and it is very loud Breakfast is ok, always the same and a bit limited, but enough to start the day and good if its included on the rate (would not pay extra). The staff for breakfast was nice and welcoming. Rooms are ok, on the small side, but like most standard rooms in Europe. Location is great, but Edinburg is very small, so all major attractions are within walkable distance. For the price I do not think I would stay again, but its a good option overall.

More variety for breakfast would be nice, but nothing to dislike

Location was perfect for us as tourists. 10 minutes walk to Royal Mile, 10 minutes walk to Princes Street. Clean room, very good shower. Large TV. We had a great view towards Princes St. Good bar, and bar staff. Food was great, and breakfast was plentiful. Our issues were sorted by the reception staff but shouldn't have occurred.

A few issues with building site around the hotel. Unexpected noise, no indication from Hotel at check-in that this could happen. Poor lighting in room, made it difficult to see in Wardrobe. Only one spotlight in ceiling for whole room. No coat hooks for wet coats. Limited storage for smaller items. Problem with check-in, and billed for upgrade that wasn't available when we arrived. Very little room info. Restaurant menu on-line does not match the one in Restaurant. (more choice for room service ?)

The location is excellent. The layout of the room is good. Coffee bar was nice, even though Nespresso machine was crazy loud.

The queen bed had a decided slope which made it uncomfortable. The bathroom was poorly designed. The open wall shower with super-shallow base resulted in having to consciously work to keep water from getting on wall, door and floor. The lighting was poor in the bathroom. And honestly, it’s a small thing, but the toilet paper holding hook was installed open towards the toilet, so that whenever you pulled paper, the roll slipped off on the floor.

Excellent location: Very close to Waverley train station and to the Royal Mile - The shortcut / stairs through the hotel's buildings allows to access there very quickly.) We stayed at two different rooms with two dfifferent bookings and both were flawless. In general all staff were very kind and helpful. The heating and climatization, the beds, the refrigirator, the coffee machine & heater (along with coffee and tea packs) and everything in the rooms were really good. Everything in the rooms were nicely organized. The internet connection was good and we had no issues. The wireless to cast on TV also worked perfectly. The breakfast also had a lot of options - It was a nice breakfast in a nice breakfast area.

15:00 check-in / 11:00 check-out policy is simply "wild". Basically, it allows you a 20-hours of stay per day and this tears apart all travel plans. (Especially where most the museums are closed at 17:00 - You need to build your travel plans according to hotel's check-in/check-out policy!) The snacks and water in the lobby area helps your long wait for the check-in, a bit. A small detail but it looked like, unlike the other personnel in the hotel, the "chef" in the breakfast area does not seem to like his job. (Or, maybe, it was just a bad day for him.) I just regretted asking for an omlette.
