Quirky - the only word this B&B can be described - having or characterized by peculiar or unexpected traits or aspects. "her sense of humour was decidedly quirky" This was the true meaning of an old fashioned B&B - we were treated so lovely and not just another name on a spreadsheet.

I guess the only downside was a shared bathroom but this is described in the booking details so it isn’t a moan, just an observation. Never caused any issues at all.

The hostess was fantastic, could not of been more helpful, we would stay there again just for this lady.

Personnel choices, l do not like to wander about for the toilet and shower, at my age visits to the loo at night time are obligatory Prefer tea/coffee making facilities in the room, again we were told to help ourselves from the kitchen, but, do not like that idea.

Great to have the kitchen and cooking facilities available separately and Lorna provides a good breakfast and a very well stocked tea/coffee station with snacks & fruit. The room was cosy & comfortable and we loved being surrounded by the eclectic mix of treasures. Super location, walking distance to pubs/restaurants and shops. Fabulous sunrises over the ocean on our morning walks with dogs - who were also made very welcome. Shared bathroom wasn't an issue as there was no-one in the other room. Lovely stay - thank you! :)

Lorna is a wonderful host. She has thought of literally everything to make a stay pleasant and peaceful. From clean dressing gowns in the bedroom to snacks and wonderful breakfast, toiletries and cosy towels, the room had a sink and loads of room for our dog to stay comfortably on her bed without being in our way, parking outside and great views and lovely walks, peaceful back garden, TV WiFi and a fridge for our snacks and even a sink in the bedroom which is so handy, also Lorna is so knowledgeable and could spend another day there just talking with her! Thank you. Will come back again on our next visit to Orkney (location is really easy to get to ferry to Orkney)

None.

Cozy place well located in the town of Helmsdale. Lovely host! Comfortable room and good shower. Nice common rooms with a view. Breakfast and a wide range of snacks and drinks available. I had a great stay!

Room is not en-suite and price is a bit high, but everything is expensive these days. The Song of the Sea was actually the cheapest option locally, and it was very nice!

This homely B&B is located on the picturesque harbour. Lorna was helpful with access information & dining options plus she provided a fabulous breakfast.

I note in other reviews that the feedback seems to ignore that this a real B&B in someone’s home. Perhaps people are getting used to purpose-built AirBnB properties that have more in common with commercial hotels. Enjoy the diversity here!

What a lovely welcome from the host. Really comfortable room with a view of the harbour. Shared bathroom which was no issue for us. We'll stocked with toiletries and fresh towels provided. Kitchen area which you were welcomed to use with snacks and hot drink making facilities. Breakfast made in the morning at requested time by the host. For the price point we had a great stay.

Nothing.

Lovely homestay. Lovely host. Comfortable and all you need is available. Wonderful breakfast and lovely touch of snacks available.

Curtain didn't make the room very dark at night. Not a big issue.

Great location in a quiet fishing village, right on the harbour. We walked a short distance into the village and enjoyed a locally sourced seafood dinner.
