Friendly, comfortable, warm and inviting. Just what you would hope for from a Highlands welcome in a snowy, winter spell. Relatively recently renovated, the hotel is nicely located close to the beach and golf course. The food at The Curing Yard is very good and the breakfast is exceptional.
We had one of the best rooms, a junior suite which is described as having a ‘garden view’. In reality this was an unsightly view over the bins and an area of construction. This was disappointing. The menu in the restaurant has numerous items for which a supplement charge is applied. This, along with the automatically applied service charge, is a pet hate of mine, especially when a number of the ‘standard’ items weren’t available. This could easily be seen as deliberate.

Breakfast was lovely. Good selection of cereal, overnight oat pots, fruit, nuts etc. Cooked breakfasts were large and very tasty. Staff very friendly and accommodating. The hotel had a nice ambience the restaurant was airy and bright. The evening meal was delicious but a little pricy. Nice touch to have the bagpipes in the morning. The bedding was excellent quality and it was no trouble to change the feather pillows (I’m allergic to them)
The walls were very thin in the bedroom you could hear the toilet being used next door. It also took a long time for the hot water to run through. I would like the mirror for the hair dryer to be away from the drinks preparation area. In the restaurant the round table in the window is difficult for the waiters to serve some of the guests (not very nice having waiters leaning over you to serve other guests at the table).

Staff were super friendly from start to finish -- from the reception desk, bar, breakfast and restaurant team through to the Commercial Manager and General Manager who let me share their office (OK, they were working in the lounge!). Provided a phone charger, attempted to befriend my Border Collie (some with more success than others), gave a great walk recommendation, took a food order from the golf course when I was running late, and generally made me feel very welcome. Food was really well presented (breakfast impressed), and my evening meal in the restuarant (venison followed by honey baked plums) hit the mark.
Whilst dog friendly, food bowls would be useful in the room (they fetched me a dish from the restuarant that worked well for the stay), and perhaps a dog bed.

Lovely room lovely staff. The food was nice and the decor was very relaxing. We had a really enjoyable stay which exceeded expectations The room really was excellent. Possibly needed a bit more lighting. Bathroom and shower were top notch and well thought out. Everything worked!
The pork sausage at breakfast was 1950s - you have to have been around then to know! Try dusting the clear glass pendant lighting in the far dining room. It will make the place sparkle!!

The hotel has recently been refurbished and they've done a wonderful job, soft welcoming tones and lots of original timber and log fires (I think? Felt like that anyway), instead of the obligatory tartan wallpaper and carpets and stags heads you used to find in posh Highland hotels. Didn't try the food but was great to find real coffee and fresh milk in the room. Most comfortable night's sleep I can remember with a top quality duvet and luxurious cotton sheets. Smart TV with all the streaming channels, though I didn't investigate too much.
Travelling on my own I'm used to just looking for the cheapest hotel I can find, so I got lucky getting a room here at half price which was an amazing bargain. Sadly I don't think I'll be able to experience that level of luxury again at full price, though I'll be sorely tempted next time I'm sitting in a Premier Inn trying to open the wee sachets of Nescafe and UHT milk.

The staff were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. Linda and the receptionist were very kind and helpful. The food was good, and again the staff could not of been better, lovely big fire in the hall where we were able to sit and read, heavy snow outside!! Plenty of room in our bedroom, but cold. We enjoyed the piper who braved the snow.
Our bedroom was cold, the heating could not cope with the cold outside, we think the heating went off in the night and it took a long time for any warmth to come through. When we arrived the lighting in the bedroom was very poor we could not read or see anything properly. As I have a sight problem, I explained, and the staff then brought two more lamps. We were also brought another duvet, so we were cosy in bed.

Warm welcome from friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful location and tastefully furnished. Sofas with real fire was lovely for drinks before dinner. We had a slight issue with room noise but that was quickly remedied by very helpful staff and we were delighted with our new room which was very comfortable, spacious and quiet.
We would have liked more local seafood on restaurant menu and portions were not huge but meal was good and breakfast was excellent.

From the moment we arrived the staff were welcoming, attentive, and always smiling and helpful. The food was excellent. Rooms were spotlessly clean, and beautifully done with soft furnishings and comfortable chairs. Good quality toiletries in the en suite. The location is perfect - literally five minutes to the stunning beach for long walks. Golf course near by too. Perfect for couples and adult family groups. We had a beautiful stay and enjoyed it so much we have booked to visit again.

Absolute gem of a find !! Beautiful decor befitting the local area, roaring log fire a treat in a cold winters day, and super friendly staff. I was upgraded to what I can only call a king size suite !! It’s was huge and absolutely lovely !! I wish I had been staying for a few nights as a short break rather than one night for work. Superb value for money for excellent quality all round !
The tv wasn’t working on normal Chanel’s. But I am sure this was. One off.

The bedroom was superb with high quality design, materials and workmanship. In fact that goes for the whole hotel. The breakfast menu was extensive including plenty of veggie options. All the staff were very helpful with a special mention for Natalia on reception and Belinda in the restaurant. The roaring log fire in the lobby lounge area was welcoming. The bagpipe player (outside!) at breakfast ensured we didn’t forget we were in Scotland.
The kettle in the room wasn’t big enough for 2 mugs of water without bubbling over as it reached boiling point.
