- Good location in a small town, very close to Galway. - Free bottles of water, and a welcome snack upon arrival. - Beds were comfortable, and duvet were warm. - Although narrow to enter, free parking available for guests. - Breakfast included in the price (1 dish and 1 drink to choose from several options, including vegetarian ones). - "Do not disturb" sign available. - Water boiler, coffee and tea available for guests.

- Tight check-in times, and pushy about arrival time, even within check-in hours. - No small desk available in the room. It'd have been nice instead of a extra single bed. - Rooms cannot be locked. - Heating system turns off at night till the morning, so it can get a bit chilly, especially during this time of the year. - There's a carpet at the foot of the bed, which does not seem to be very clean.

We arrived late in the night, there were plenty of places to park the car, all details were provided on how to check in and even some welcome brownies which were delicious! The rooms were spotless and beds were very comfortable and a great nights sleep were had by us both. A selection of breakfasts were available just across the road at their restaurant which were cooked beautiful and arrived quick! All staff that we came across (cleaning and serving and booking) were welcoming, friendly and chatty! Nothing was ever to much to ask. Would highly recommended a stay at the Old Barracks! Thank you all for such a lovely and memorable stay! 💚

Nothing it was all perfect

The room was lovely and modern, very spacious for four people. The bathroom was nice and equipped with plenty of towels for our group. There was lovely complementary snacks and water left for us on our arrival which was very well received by the group. Beds were lovely and comfortable. Breakfast is included and it was one of the nicest breakfast I’ve ever had! Very high quality food, would definitely come back if I was in the area

Our room was situated at the front of the building which is on a street, there was a bit of noise on the street in the morning but that cannot be helped by the hosts!

They thought of everything. It's a small town with not much to do and not many restaurants. The Lodge provided a walkable map of the various castle ruins and they have a full service restaurant with breakfast included in your stay. There is parking behind the building and TVs in the room. The location is close to Galway but without the city prices.

There is no front desk. They handled it fine, though, because anyone at their restaurant across the street can help you, and they tell you that when you arrive. They saw us arrive almost immediately. But, what if we needed something after the restaurant closed? Thankfully, we didn't and everything was perfect.

Elegant apartment named abbey row right above the main restaurant. Rooms were nice, living room was very comfortable and kitchen was fully equipped. Since we had our preschooler and toddler we needed the extra space and a kitchen and it was perfect. Staff was exceptional. Check in and check out were as easy as it gets, just walk into the restaurant and they give you the key and drop it off when you leave. The food was also delicious. We also loved athenry as our base to visit the surrounding areas

Wi-Fi was pretty bad during our three day stay. And did not like the trash bag that was left in front of our door between second and third day.

First and foremost, the hospitality. Scott and Aideen, in particular, were great, but everyone seemed just as kind and helpful--great ambassadors of Ireland. The place was clean and spacious. My three children and I felt right at home. And then there was the food. We ended up eating four of six meals at our place--the pizza restaurant was delicious, every order, and the breakfast was easily the best included breakfast we have had for the last two years. Plain and simple, you cannot beat the value of this booking.

You're a train-ride away from Galway (15 minutes or so), but only a three-minute walk from the train station. In truth, Athenry was a nice break from the tourist center. I don't know differently, but I suspect this location might be preferable.

We absolutely loved our stay in Athenry. The staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much to ask. The pizzeria downstairs offers delicious food (not necessarily pizza) and we were seated in a separated nook for our breakfast, which was ideal for our big group. Beds were very comfortable and the shower was great. I’d recommend this property to anyone as Athenry is really worth a visit too.

If I have to mention anything, I’d say that the towels didn’t feel that clean and the floor could be swiped a bit better, but these are just details.

Scott made us so welcome. We stayed in the Downtown Suite. It was spacious and comfortable. We easily walked to take the train to Galway. The Old Barracks has a bakery, restaurant, and stone pizza place. The included breakfast was very good with lots of options. We ate at the pizza place and restaurant and both were excellent. Easy walking to grocery stores as well.

No AC and I was a little warm at night.

Great location, very clean, tray bakes on arrival nice touch, plenty of space the kids loved it. Went for breakfast which was good and an evening meal which was great, very accommodating for the kids. Would love to stay again sometime.

I would go for breakfast again its not that I didn't like it, just these would be my preferences. Breakfast needs a egg only option, like scrambled eggs and toast, porridge was on menu upstairs but not downstairs, would have went for it, I my option need another meat option not just bacon, in the end I went for a croissant which came cold, would have been better warm but it was nice. That said my wife who eats bacon had a great breakfast and so did the kids. Got great turkey breast sausages from local butcher and had them were great.

Staff and owners were beyond helpful, really excellent experience. 1st time visiting the area for work, but I will definitely return and will try to always stay here if available. I ate in the pizza restaurant on site for the evening meal and it was top quality.

Breakfast choice was superb but started at 08:30 which was a little tight for me given I had a 9am meeting- I was still able to grab a fresh almond croissant and good coffee to take away but it is a shame that it wasn't open a little earlier. I will make sure I leave more time for the cooked option on future visits.
