I travel for a living, staying in quality hotels, and the Hotel du Vin impressed. The rooms are larger than usual. Beautifully furnished, v comfy beds and bedding. Rain showers and baths, lots of fluffy towels, windows can be opened and heating controlled in room. The multiple lounges / snugs and cellar bar were perfect for quiet reading and group get together. The stand alone Bistro was excellent, from decor, seating, lighting, menu options and service. The quality of the cooking was faultless and the presentation delightful. But what really impressed me was the staff. From Maintenance to Managment they were highly trained, charming, preempted our needs and could not have done more. From my vaste experience of top hotels this team are the best of the best and wholeheartedly recommend this hotel and restaurant.

Lovely boutique hotel close to the centre of Cambridge. I am very fond of this place, which I have visited frequently during the last ten years. The reception staff are unfailingly wonderful and the rooms are comfortable, albeit on some occasions small for this quality of hotel. Subject to my comments below, breakfast is good. I have never stayed for dinner.

Breakfast is patchy. Having only one coffee machine for the numbers who attend breakfast seems unduly parsimonious for this quality of hotel. And breakfast eggs are a weakness. About one in two of my poached eggs unfailingly comes hard - even an inexpensive bed and breakfast should be able to do better than that.

The room was very good - thank you. The invitation to enjoy a free glass of something at the bar to celebrate my partner's birthday was particularly welcome as the trip was a surprise for him!

Is it possible that either a bidet or hand held shower unit be made available for guests please. Many international guests would expect this as standard. In addition a blanket or lighter duvet during the summer months and when its particularly hot would be appreciated. The provision of decaffeinated coffee would also be appreciated, we did ask at reception and the person got some capsules for us, but it would be nice if they were available as a matter of course.

The staff are amazingly helpful and supportive. I faced an issue with my AC and they fixed it remotely, this doesn’t even happen in a five star hotel !

The room I stayed in was unfortunately inaccessible by the elevator, which posed a challenge for me, especially when I had a heavy bag. I couldn't help but feel guilty as the workers kindly assisted me with my luggage. Moreover, the sound insulation in the rooms seemed inadequate, as I could hear noises from neighboring rooms as if the occupants were physically present with me. Even the slightest disturbance, such as housekeeping dropping something in the adjacent room, resulted in a knocking sound that startled me awake on numerous occasions during the night.

room was comfy and well equipped, breakfast was great overall - staff on the whole were very good, location was good, great shower and nice toiletries, never like when they are locked away but I guess some people steal them

there were a few bits in the room that were a bit tired, sink was cracked and some paintwork a bit rough, breakfast choice was good and quality, full English a bit small and no potatoes/hash browns, went for a cocktail first night and were superb - went the following night and the bartender didn't know how to make the cocktails we had the night before - different bartender - did have a go at making but were quite different and initially said didn't have the ingredients when we could see that the did

First of all the breakfast and the location.

The ingredients in the menu should be all mentioned. I don’t like onions but I am not allergic to them. I was asked if there were any allergies and correctly I answered no. Then I ordered some green beans. Nothing was specified about them. When they arrived there were quite e few onions cut in small pieces. I complained and said I wouldn’t eat them. They took them back and came back again with them saying that the chef had fixed them. What it did, I don’t want to know how, was to remove some of the pieces leaving quite a few of them. Obviously I didn’t eat them. I think this behavior is quite unacceptable.

Everything! The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a lovely little lounge area where I was able to meet friends and have a pre-dinner drink. The room had everything I needed (including an iron, tea and coffee) and the bed was very comfortable. I was given a drinks voucher for electing not to have my room made up, which was a very pleasant surprise. Cambridge is a small place and the walk to the City Centre is an interesting one. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was delicious and good value.

The bed and room were extremely spacious and comfortable and the bathroom was luxurious and really enjoyed all the wonderful lotions The staff were very friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble The girls Tiff and her colleague (who unfortunately never knew her name) at Reception were extremely helpful to all our requests and Liam and AJ were brilliant Bartenders They and all the staff made our stay extra special and we would definitely stay again

Car parking a nightmare and a very expensive extra.. Staff were somwhat vague about arrangements and the map provided was very badly produced. Confusing for a stranger to the town., It led me into a restricted traffic zone for which I got fined! (Obviously my mistake but the provided map was very bad.) Only later did staff inform me I could have waited for a metered roadside space which after, 6.30pm, is free until the next morning - and that was all I needed!

The staff were professional and responsive. A credit to Hotel Du Vin. The room was beautifully decorated and relaxing. It wasn’t ready when we arrived though staff apologised and offered a free drink each which was a nice gesture. Location was perfect and a good partnership with another hotel for parking.

The staff serving in the restaurant seemed very busy at dinner and breakfast. They worked very hard and looked after us…..there just seemed to be too few for the number of tables filled.
