Beautiful old building which once housed the Fellows of Gonville and Caius College. It exudes old fashioned class from the outside with modern bright interior. I loved the glass lift. A nice touch. The garden to the side of the hotel is such a great bonus for a hotel so close to the centre of Cambridge. All the tourist spots and shopping and The Fitzwilliam Museum are within walking distance even for the not so able bodied (I have MS). The room was luxurious - I was very kindly upgraded by the hotel to a luxury twin room. I received a very warm and friendly welcome from Jessie on reception and she made everything clear to me re breakfast etc… I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough for ambience, friendliness, cleanliness and comfort (the beds are very comfortable). I was fortunate enough to get a free ride in the hotels Bentley with Zane. It was a treat I shall NEVER forget. Thank you Gonville Hotel and staff.

This hotel is a solid choice in Cambridge in terms of value/location. It's about a 10 minute walk to the city center, and there are good restaurants all around within a 5 minute walk. The staff are very accommodating and professional and the rooms comfortable and quiet.

We have stayed here twice and both times we've had issues with the hot water running out, or not being very hot. There is no mini fridge in the standard rooms, which for the standard of the hotel one would expect. The full breakfast is a bit hit and miss. It was mostly good, but one day was horrible. The continental breakfast is good value.

The location was great and it had Tesla charging which was the main reason I chose this hotel. It smelt absolutely gorgeous and the reception staff were fab

The bar staff and the breakfast staff left a lot to be desired, no customer service, one was quite rude when I attempted to sit at an empty table and they got the very simple breakfast order wrong meaning I’d nearly finished mine when my partners food finally arrived. The hotel really isn’t cheap and I’ve stayed in cheaper places with a better experience. The website said parking was £26 but they’d put it up to £28 - which on top of the hotel cost is pretty crap

The room was spacious and so beautifully decorated, as were all areas of Gresham House, and the hotel in general. The bathroom was luxurious and the bed so comfy - especially with the pillows we requested from the pillow menu (a first for us!). We loved having a coffee machine in the room. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating. We borrowed the lovely hotel bikes to cycle to Granchester for lunch one day - highly recommended. We had booked the weekend at the Gonville to celebrate a special occasion and it certainly did all feel really special. An excellent massage by Jasmine in the spa allowed my husband to really relax after work and so enjoy the weekend even more!

We were slightly disappointed having booked a meal in the restaurant on the night we arrived to discover that several items on the menu had already run out (by 7.30pm!) and the staff were really busy and the service slow because there was a function booked in another area of the hotel. I felt that the management should have allowed for this with extra staff/food. We waited so long between our starters and mains I asked for some bread to keep us going, this was promised but never materialized. That said, the food we could order was absolutely delicious and the staff were apologetic and charming.

Everything about the Gonville was exceptional. The staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was out of this world, and the room was large, very clean, and comfortable. They even offer a choice of pillows and have hair conditioner along with soap and shampoo! They have bicycles available to borrow for the day so we took advantage and toured the area. We also took a guided tour of Cambridge from the backseat of a vintage Bentley - a unique offering to hotel guests. The location is a short walk from the train station and Uber is also available. We had a wonderful stay at the Gonville and would highly recommend it.

Absolutely nothing. They take care of every detail so there is nothing to dislike!

Lovely hotel in an excellent location with onsite parking

Staff could be a little more cheerful Room was not ready until almost 3.30pm The lift was out of use Our room had twin beds even though we had booked a double room. This was eventually rectified but after miscommunication between hotel staff. The housekeeper came to the room to make up what he thought were twin beds instead of converting them to a double, therefore brought the wrong bedding, so had to go back for the correct bedding, he did not hide his annoyance at this We were disturbed by 2 dogs in one of the rooms barking

Oooo where do I start from? The moment i got there, I was welcomed in with open arms, and the staff was really nice and friendly. I'm obsessed with the hotel. There's a gurl who spoke to me when signing in. Think her name was "Jessie" she was amazing she was kindhearted, and I really hopped to have seen her when I left, but aside from that, I just had the most amazing time there. Felt like home 🏡 hopefully next time I visit GONVILLE HOTEL. I will make the most of it there, which will be around the corner. 5 starr if u ask me !!! ❤️❤️❤️

It's really hard to think about what I didn't like because I loved it, the cleaning was spotless ooo "j'adore Gonville Hotel"

Central location on Parker's Piece giving good access to both the historical core of Cambridge and on outward to the surrounding areas, it was exceedingly peaceful at night also. The staff, despite being clearly very busy, were courteous and helpful at all times - superb. The hotel's main lobby has an old world villa feel, the classic Bentley motor cars at the main entrance are instant cause to pause and comment (my wife couldn't care less about cars and still insisted on a photo with them), then there's the inner garden area which feels like a bit of an oasis in a very busy and bustling city. Our room had amazing decor and great facilities - genuinely stunning. It might seem small but we appreciated the water and coffee after the long journey. The choice of multiple pillows was also welcomed - I prefer a harder pillow, my wife a softer one. Housekeeping were helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Icing on the cake, something I've never experienced before at any hotel, was the opportunity to be taken for an hour in a 1953 Bentley, with a knowledgeable and charming host - thank you Zane! - that was really something special and different to the average hotel 'room to store humans in' experience. Brilliant. Staff at the outdoor bar were lovely too, great cocktails late on a Friday night.

Nothing to add

We booked this hotel as it had the boutique attraction of high-quality themed rooms as we celebrated a special anniversary. On arrival, the two Classic Bentley cars give it the lure of luxury. Checking in at reception, Abi made us feel special right from the start, giving us an upgrade on our room so we can stay in Gresham House, separate from the hotel, with our own terrace that also had its own private garden. The room was so stylish , with a modern four-poster bed. Jack and Jill copper-plated ceramic sinks and a choice of shower or bath. There was an outside bar where we enjoyed many cocktails 2 Two-for-one 1 deals between 4 and 6pm went down rather well, too. Friday and Saturday evening, we had the pleasure of their Jazz band. The garden also offered many games, such as swing ball, Patonk, Jengo, and much more. We loved it and are looking forward to returning very soon. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful, pleasurable relaxing time.

Coffee machine had a queue at times for breakfast.

The breakfast was very good and we enjoyed sitting in the garden in the evenings. The hotel is ideally located to walk into the town centre and also visit the botanic gardens. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

the lounge was being refurbished during our stay, which was fine when we could sit outside in the garden area. However, on one night there was a private function being held that made it too loud to sit outside. Our room was on the ground floor and equipped for disabled clients. But this meant as a tall able bodied man the shower was too low to stand under.
