Wonderful breakfast made each morning for each guest based on a menu checklist filled out the evening before. Host couple were very friendly.

On street parking was very tight, so we avoided using car so we wouldn't lose our parking space during our stay. The the Host said there was a large convention in town that made parking worse than normal. Fortunately, the quaint downtown area was quite accessible by walking from Portland House.

Really welcoming and helpful hosts in Colin and Sarah. Comfortable single room with a decent bed and a nice hot shower. Plenty of room for a solo traveller. Tea, coffee, kettle in room and fresh milk and cold water available from a small fridge at the bottom of the stairs. Nice breakfasts with options on fresh fruit salad/ porridge/ cereals/ yoghurts and choices with a full English cooked breakfast. Ideally placed in Keswick just a short walk from the town centre with its plentiful places to eat. On-street parking is always a gamble in Keswick but I was always able to find a spot near the establishment. Would highly recommend and I'll be back for a few days next year.

It was all very good and I'd happily return. Street car parking is a bit of a lottery but that's no different from most other Keswick B&B's

Very clean place with excellent hosts. Breakfast was amazing every morning. The location was perfect to walk to all the town shops, the bus station, etc. We would definitely stay here again.

Our room was a bit cramped but I think we got the smallest queen bed room because we booked only a week in advance and that’s what was available. Other than that, it was wonderful.

Our second visit to Portland House Colin and Sarah are a pleasure to meet So friendly making you feel welcome and comfortable We took two friends this time and they yoo loved everything The breakfast choice is outstanding and quality is 10/10 . The accommodation is literally a ten minute walk from keswick Town centre The rooms are comfortable and all the little extras make a difference. Can't wait to return

Great hosts, nice good-sized room, good breakfast; what's not to like! Worried about parking and paid for a space through one of the parking apps but didn't use in the end as there was a space very near the house - maybe just lucky but we did have 2 cars and didn't have an issue.

If I'm being really picky, the coffee wasn't that great and the electric shower was a bit inconsistent and needed a few daily adjustments, but nothing that actually spoiled the stay.

Greated by Sarah very friendly and made us welcome straight away. Room on first floor Can't fault anything. Comfortable bed and pillows Nice touches if needed Tea coffee and toiletries. Fresh milk and water to take to your room kept in a small fridge rather than the usual plastic cap fulls you get.of warm milk. Such a wide selection of breakfast choices fruit salad cerals porridge full English and more. Colin a pleasure also and as well as being the chef makes cakes and shortbread biscuits which you can help yourself to.My husband was delighted 😋 Five minute walk into Keswick and short walk to lake Lots of information provided by Sarah on places to eat etc. Would highly recommend just wished we could have stayed longer Thank you so much From Nicola and Kevin

Nothing just perfect

The hosts were very friendly, and helpful. The food, was excellent. The room was very comfortable, the finishing touches ie bottle opener so you could bring a drink back to your room, cold milk and cold bottled water from a fridge at the bottom of the stairs also a nice selection of shortbread and cake to help yourself. We had a lovely stay.

Wonderful location, the loveliest hosts and outstanding breakfast on both mornings. I was visiting alone for a funeral, and felt really safe and welcomed by Colin and Sarah. Room was spotlessly clean and comfortable, and in walking distance to everything Keswick has to offer. Room was also well equipped, with everything you need plus hair dryer, tea and biscuits, kettle, milk, etc.

The breakfast was as advertised ...a very impressive Cumbrian Breakfast with plenty of additional choices. Colin and Sarah wee perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble .

We had a 6 night stay. The hospitality and personal touch from both Colin and Sarah was very good. With the right level of attentiveness. Great selection for breakfast, clean and spacious room. A quiet location within an easy 5 minute walk to the town centre.
