The location on the Upper West Side was ideal for exploring the non-touristy side of NYC. The hostel was less than 10 minutes on foot from the MTA station at Broadway and 103rd for Line 1. It was a 20 min ride to Times Square and slightly more to Penn Station. Great local restaurants like Plowshares Coffee, the Ellington and Osteria 106 were incredibly close. In terms of the pod concept, I really liked it. There was enough space in the pod for both me and my shoulder bag. The lighting was excellent with an overhead light controlled by a dimmer switch. There was a mirror with lighting around it. Two USB ports within the pod made it easy to charge my phone. There was also a venting mechanism to provide circulating air into the pod. The bed was comfortable. A sheet, blanket and pillow were provided. The pod itself had a hard, sliding door which I totally prefer over curtains. With the sliding door closed, the pod was very quiet. The room had six pods (bunk bed formation) with a small bathroom. There was a narrow table and bar top chairs against the wall alongside a column of small, valuable-sized lockers. There was also a full-length mirror in the room. There was enough space to tuck larger sized bags into corners and under the table, but with a full room and everyone having big suitcases, it might get too tight. The hostel offered free coffee and bagels in a downstairs kitchen from 7 am until gone. The lobby was big and attached to a bar area with tables and chairs. WiFi worked well in the pod and in the main areas. The person working the desk upon my arrival was pleasant. I would stay again.

I would have liked a small shelf within the pod that I could place my toiletries and jewellery on. A three-prong plug would also be a great asset within the pod in case the electronics did not have USB capacity. The room itself had several three-prong plugs. The shower took a few minutes longer than I would have liked to heat up, but that's the reality of an older building. Thankfully, I remembered my towel as none was provided.

For Muslim, there is masjed near the hostel (Annur Islamic Center Inc.). If you wanna pray , it's very difficult to pray in the shared room inside the hotel - Location in front of Central Park and 5 min walk to subway -Capsules isolated you and give you privacy -staff is friendly

-No room services -WIFI is not stable -no enough locators in the room

I loved that I had my own space in the pods. I usually just went there to sleep because in NYC you will go all day long. They provided breakfast for us. Tea, bagel, butter, coffee wa provided. It was more than enough.

The wifi went away unfortunately for one or two nights. I didnt had data so it was bad that I could reach out to anyone. The pod is not closeable but you have a small locker so you can put the most important things inside, just bring a lock!

Good position, very close to the subway and to some shops in the Upper West Side. The capsules were comfortable. The room and the bathroom inside the room were very clean. Large part of the staff was very helpful, friendly and welcoming.

While almost everyone in the staff was so friendly and helpful all the time, the girl with the short curly hair and glasses was absolutely rude. Seemed pissed all the time, even when I was asking for help she made me feel so uncomfortable. While everyone else was smiling and greeting you, she would just not acknowledge you. + while the room was very clean, the common areas were not, especially the kitchen.

KAMA Central Park is definitely a perfect place for solo travellers or friend groups to explore NYC. The hostel seems really new, and there was some construction work going on (no nouse though, but there were workers). The free bagels and coffee are a great and cute idea which definitely made my morning. The staff is soooo friendly and helpful. Especially Miguel is one of a kind, he was always in a good mood and definitely made everyone's day. The rooms were small but the capsule beds were amazing. They were really comfortable and so private. The different light setzings and the charging possibilites were a great idea. You really had your privacy. The ensuite bathroom was a highlight as well, because it was always clean and had a nice shower as well. There are also common toilets and showers and sinks to use on every floor. You also get a free towel and some bed sheets which is nice for a hostel. The location of KAMA is great, only 5 minutes walking distance from the next subway statio which takes you downtown. That was great. And last but not least - the price is uncomparable. NYC is so expensive but the stay at KAMA is not and you really get a lot out of it. I enjoyed it and I would definitely come back for a few nights!

I think there could be coat hooks and one rack for every bed. I didn't know where to hang my coat or my towel. Also there could be lockers or at least a working locking system for the capsule beds so your valuables could be safe.

Location felt very safe late at night. Great metro station nearby. Beautiful neighbourhood and easy to go to other parts of NYC from there. The employees are really nice and helpful. Private bathrooms were very nice and clean. It was nice to be able to close yourself of from the world in your pod. Great to be able to charge my phone without a converter (with a USB cable). Nice to be able to grab a tea downstairs, the vending machines are very useful too and great to see that they had a water dispenser to refill our bottles. + Haven't had them but there were complimentary bagels and coffee.

Some roommates always seemed to be in their pod (day and night), but I never knew if they were sleeping or hanging out. I always felt like I had to be super quiet. It wasn't bad obviously but it might be a nice suggestion to put up a sign with "I'm sleeping" vs "I'm awake" just so we can know as other roommates whether we can talk etc. I booked a private 6 person female room and the bathroom for us was really good, but one time I had to try use the shared bathroom and it was very small. Although the shared bathrooms looked really clean, there just wasn't enough room to move or change your clothes etc. Glad I had booked the private ones.

The capsule was spacious and clean. The shared shower room was cleaner than the one in the room. The toilets were clean too. The wifi wasn't working in the rooms but it was great in the common room - with few tables, microwave and a space for re-filling up your waterbottle, it was a great place to hang out and meet people in your free time!

There were only small trash cans in the bathrooms - overflowing already in the morning. The rooms need bigger trash cans or one more in the room itself. There was one in the corridor but it was full at the end of the day too. The floor in the room needs to be mopped - someone puts a fake tan on and as people walk, it gets smeared all over the floor.

I really liked the hostel, all the personal sooo nice and very attentive. The place was clean, even the sharing bathrooms. I really liked the pods because they were quite modern and had a lot of options to control them from the inside just with the keycard; when you close the pod you have your privacy and was very quiet, something is very cool when you are sharing a room, so you can sleep very well.

The staff is great. Everything was clean. Location is very convenient to subway and bus routes as well as walking or biking in Central Park. The room I was in had 2 pods, so it was quiet and roommate was respectful. Common bathroom and shower was fine. Of course, the price is the main draw.

The pods are small (the size of a twin mattress). There is little common space in the rooms (e.g. 1 chair in my 2-pod room). No electrical outlets in the pods; just 2 USB ports.

Nice public kitchen space and breakfast. Excellent location. Staff are friendly, management are frugal.

Their public shower room is inconvenient. No private place to change clothes. Also they have no hesitation to cancel your long time early booking but hard to compensate you if you need to cancel one due to booking mistakes. I got a double booking on one night, they won’t return the reservation fee neither provide a second pod. Very disappointed.
