We were visiting Franschhoek for the Bastille Festival which due to the Cape storms had to be postponed. Macaron Guest House were very accommodating in changing the dates of our stay even though we were within the cancellation period, so that was very much appreciated. The location of the guest house is superbly situated within easy walking distance to the town and attractions and the breakfast was superb!

The wood fire in the room made everything smell of smoke when waking in the morning.

Location was excellent, close to everything. We were able to walk to the restaurant at night, perfectly safe. The staff at breakfast were very accommodating. Food was laid out beautifully. The staff made your coffee fresh for you every morning, whether cappuccino or espresso. And they asked if they could prepare you a hot breakfast, eggs, etc. The rooms were very clean and paid attention to little details that make a difference…good quality soaps and shampoo, bathrobe and slippers. They arranged for a driving for us before and after our stay. And had good recommendations regarding vineyards and restaurants. The owner was onsite during our visit and was very friendly and took time to chat with us.

We loved the decor and atmosphere. Not very big and felt relaxed and friendly. Felt like Home from home. There was a huge storm the night before we should have left. The town was completely cut off and no one could get out. Some of the rooms got flooded. It was so sad. They couldn’t have been more accommodating. Kirsten was amazing, so sweet. She managed to make the best of a bad situation. She didn’t charge for us all to stay an extra night. Hardly any electricity or water. She managed to rustle up the food she had as all shops and restaurants closed. We had a real fire and all sat playing games and music. I would definitely stay here again wonderful.

Apart from the storm we loved everything about our stay

Great location, comfortable and elegant with the best service in Franschhoek. We had a wonderful stay and were shown such help and consideration it made the last few days of our holiday a real Highlight despite me being ill. Lovely tranquil gardens to relax in, really comfortable beds and lovely little touches everywhere. A fantastic choice that we’d love to return to.

Nothing everything was lovely

Breakfast was great. The location is wonderful. The staff were very pleasant and helpful

There need to be more usb connection points in the room. There is a table with a chair and no connection points. The kettle and the Nespresso machine have a very short electrical cable. It is difficult to fill the kettle.

The location of this guest house is excellent, off the main drag so very peaceful but 2 minutes walk from all the facilities. The bed and bedding were fabulous. Most of the staff were super friendly, efficient and helpful.

This property has no generator or self sufficient energy so load shedding has a big impact. Whilst we were there it was reliably twice a day for at least 2 hours late morning and early evening we were without internet/power of any sort. Whilst this facility requests no smoking indoors guests are free to smoke on the terrace and in the garden which meant our room was affected by the smell of smoke being terrace adjacent.

Breakfast was lovely, we took ours outside on the terrace, however if the weather wasn't as good it is still lovely inside :) Rooms we spacious and clean, comfy beds and pillows. Location is brilliant, right in town so you can walk everywhere!

Not much to dislike, although I don't have eggs or dairy which limited my choices. I didn't let them know this in advance though so very much on me!!

Breakfast was great, a basic menu to choose off for the hot breakfast would make it easier.

The shower in the room we stayed in, room 7, had very little water pressure and would take about 3-4mins for the hot water to arrive which was a pain as well as a waste of water.

Lovely, tranquil surroundings with a very comfortable, large apartment style room. The hotel was perfectly located for the main street in Franschhoek and very convenient for the Wine Tram. The service provided was professional and discreet. A highlight was the breakfast buffet and hot choices which were all superbly presented.

Difficult to find fault with anything.

The staff were friendly, welcoming and very helpful with giving us local recommendations. The decor of the whole guest house and gardens is stunning and the ambiance is so warm. Our expectations were far exceeded than what we had anticipated when we booked our stay. Two nights simply wasn’t enough! I will recommend Macaron to anyone I know visiting Franschhoek and we can’t wait to come back here. Thanks for such a lovely stay.
