The Hotel staff where just great and very helpful during my stay. This is my 1st time stay here. I will make this my hotel when i stay in Brighton agin.

The rack in the bathroom for the towels cannot be turned off. During my stay they was a bit of a heatwave in the UK. So the Bathroom was very hot. I stayed in room 126 nice size room. But the fittings could do with a bit of a update.

Loved the atmosphere, the staff were excellent. But on my second night l wanted some food and because there was a big party booked No food was available..and they had not informed me.The manager did go out for a takeaway and provided me with plate and cutlery , which l thought was excellent !!.. Also at my age 81 and difficult with mobility l needed a walk in shower which was not available and the shower was in the bath whi although low l could not get into and there was no walk in shower rooms available. But apart from that my room was lovely and my whole stay was wonderful. I will certainly return on my next visit to Brighton but obviously try to book a room with walk in shower. Very satisfied Jane Law.

Just the no walk in shower and lack of information about no food on the 2nd night.

We stayed on the weekend before Christmas 2024, and the decor and scenic views made us feel very festive. There weren't a lot of other guests, which was a bonus, as the building is huge with many corridors, elevation changes, and an original 1920s lift (which functions better than my girlfriends apartment lift). This made me feel as if we had the entire place to ourselves and gave off a lovely eerie 'The Shining' vibe, which I adored. The staff were charming to match the style, and the paid breakfast in the morning was a delicious buffet.

With a building steeped in over 500 years of history, I would have liked the option of a guided tour. I was keen to see the rest of the rooms and the Assembly rooms, but I may return to correct this lapse of viewership.

The hotel was in an extraordinary location, quite central to the Lanes and most places of interest within Brighton yet still being very peaceful and solemn during the later hours of the day. Staff was nice and understanding towards requests and helpful during the check in and check out process. Great connection to public transportation as well as only a short brisk walk away from the central railway station of the city. Equipped with a nice bar that serves a great variety of drinks and food throughout the whole day. Lobby has a lot of comfortable seating and leisure options like a pool table and a myriad of couches. Would definitely recommend a stay at The Old Ship Hotel.

Had a sea view room top of hotel , decor was old fashion but the beds was comfy hotel was clean and had everything we needed . Was given chocolate truffles on arrival and staff was very pleasant.

The decor and hotel is very old , we was top of hotel woken by the pigeons and seagulls , shower and bath was fine lovely clean bedding and towels with soap shower gel and shampoo . Ceiling in the room was in need of disrepair , the rooms needed decorating and the rod obviously has a leak in past , not nice looking up at ceiling , the remote control had no batteries and the toilet had a crack down the toilet in side so was a bit worried to sit on it . But other then that was happy for £110 inclusive of brekkie

We arrived early but the receptionist allocated us a twin room on the 3rd floor. The room was spacious, tastefully decorated, clean, warm, ample towels, tea, coffee. Beds were comfortable, spare pillars with individual bedside lamps. Breakfast was excellent. We enjoyed the fresh fruit, yogurts, cooked buffet , pasties, Reception and bar area were welcoming. We had dinner in the Wardroom restaurant, the mushroom vegetarian option was excellent. We had a table by the bay window overlooking the sea. Spectacular view. We vacated our room left our cases safely with reception while we spent another enjoyable day in Brighton. Very enjoyable stay. We will definitely stay at the Old Ship hotel again.

We were on a side street with another hotel opposite, The room really needed to have net curtains for privacy. We had to close the main curtains. The ground to first floor stairs needed an edging as some carpet was frayed.

The helpfulness of staff. We had an issue with the room (see below) and the manager sorted it out very quickly and swapped our room for a different, much more spacious one, that did not create an allergic reaction. We offered to pay for the better room but were not charged. We were also given a voucher for drinks.

We were initially given a room in which I could not breathe properly. I suspect it was an allergic reaction to animals that had been in the room. The room was also very depressing. I have stayed in a king room at the ship several times but never a room like the one we were given.

This is an established older hotel. Yes, it can come across as slightly worn and tired in areas. However, one nights stay in a sea view room was amazing value. Very comfortable bed, very clean throughout, with hostess tray and kettle, full of tea, coffee, and hot chocolate sachets. We had a mini fridge for our wine. There was also a iron and ironing board in the wardrobe and hairdryer.. More facilities than some 4star hotels we've stayed in before. The breakfast served was great. Cereals, fruit and yogurt, hot food, bacon, eggs and all the usual. It was extremely tasty and there was great staff serving. We live just outside Brighton and had come in the day before for a Christmas get together with friends. We stayed as a taxi in and back home the following day would have cost as much as our stay. Definitely would stay again for any evenings out in town.

There wasn't anything we didn't like. Some may find the lift a long time coming. But it was installed in 1920's!! Obviously being maintained over the years. So has the Savoy got a similar elevator!!

Great location. Although the exterior of the hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment, the inside was lovely and oozed olde world charm of yesterday year. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. A nice touch was the free drink at the bar on check in. Breakfast buffet had something for everybody and the full English was very well prepared. Overall I would certainly stay here again.

Our Room was just a standard double on the top floor but was Ok. The ceiling looked like it was going to collapse and needed attention, but we were assured by the reception staff all was well. The bed was clean and comfy and the shower was good. The elevator lift which is over 100 years old is quite a thing. It won't be rushed and just trundles up and down all day at its own steady pace. Frustrating if you're in a rush, but I liked it. Biggest dislike was the problem with parking. Expensive !!

The staff were immediately lovely and gave us all the information we needed. The history listed on the website is brilliant, and the fact that there's a working lift from 1920 is amazing! The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the (hidden) kettle with complimentary tea bags/coffee sachets was lovely.

I understood that it was an old hotel with a lot of history, so expected it to be a little run-down. The only parts that bothered me were the water damage on the walls, and quite a bit of dark green mould in the bathroom.
