We travelled with our dog and felt very welcome. There is even a doggy friendly restaurant. The outside area is lovely and clean. We were in a room just off the main hotel it was a great size and very clean. The staff were super friendly always smiling, and even have a family of ducks and ducklings paying a daily visit to them. Good choice of food available, prices the same as surrounding places. The walks and scenery around the hotel are amazing and wish we had more time to explore them. Also plenty cafes, food places near by.

Although we had a doggy friendly restaurant it was very very dated. Table was set nice but felt a bit eerie with the 1950s decor so we didn't want to spend too long in there, appreciate a safe place for dog while we ate though. No vibe or entertainment in the evening, we just pulled out the cards, but on booking. com it does say entertainment available. Wasn't a deal breaker though. Only other thing to mention is that we could hear every movement and sound from the people in the room above us and had a bit of an awakening at 6am when it sounded like them and a whole coach load of people woke up and went for a shower and getting ready, lots of footsteps and creacky floors

Room was generously sized, clean, and quiet. The WiFi worked well. There was a good sized kettle, and were plenty of sockets for devices. I didn't sample the food, so can't comment on that. I only really interacted when I checked in but the staff were friendly and helpful.

The "double" was two singles pushed together. Unfortunately there was a difference in height between both mattresses, so there wasn't just a little gap in the middle, there was actually a perceptible step up/down! I was on my own and wanted a double just so I could stretch out, so it wasn't the end of the world. The shower was a little cramped. I'm 6" and wear an L/XL, and I was just about ok. I think someone a bit taller / heavier / broader shouldered would really have struggled.

Clean, adequate room. Food was great - good portions, hot, and quick. Gorgeous location just off the A9 so easy to reach. Staff were all pleasant, and very obliging to any requests. Ducks in the morning definitely brought a smile to my face. Overall, excellent value.

Zip together single mattresses for the double bed. I'm very tall, and tend to lie diagonally, so there was an awkward ridge/valley across the centre of the bed. No black pudding with the fried breakfast (which was otherwise excellent!!).

A hidden gem! Clean, comfy beds, lovely home made food and a perfect location for exploring. Very dog friendly and all staff were incredible with our dog! Genuine dog people, won’t try and fuss your dog but will let you all just enjoy your stay, make you all as comfortable as possible and let you just genuinely chill out! Food, drinks were amazing, we didn’t know what to expect with a last minute booking but we will be back without a doubt! Great base for anyone coming to Scotland to explore, good food, very clean and comfy and just brilliant!

Everything was brilliant!

Splash and I had a lovely stay. We were warmly welcomed and treated by the staff and it is clear that this is a very dog friendly hotel. The staff are very knowledgable about local walks etc. the room is quite big and the shower works really well.

I would have loved to see a bit more variety at breakfast such as croissants or similar every day (not just for coach tourists). the WiFi was slightly slow at times but this was during peak times so possibly why.

We were met by vet friendly staff who all loved our dogs. The room was very spacious with a large bathroom and shower. Everything was very clean and I immediately felt comfortable. There was plenty space to hang clothes and the dressing table with mirror was very generous. Plenty of plug points situated in good places I.e you could plug your hair dryer in bedside the mirror etc. The room is slightly dated but the cleanliness really made up for that.

The bed was slightly too firm for my liking but that’s personal preference

Dog friendly! Room 31 was really big and clean. Beds were comfy. Very quiet. Breakfast was excellent and the staff, lovely. Plenty of parking and space to walk the dogs and with a waste bin provided.

Room was freezing cold on arrival - we had advised we would be arriving late, but before reception closed. We had requested a Double bed and found the room was made up as a Twin. We were too tired to ask reception to sort it out. There was only one spare blanket on the shelf. Took awhile to find the switch to turn on the towel radiator. Turned on the room radiator which took awhile to warm up but was very effective once going. There was some mould in the grouting inside the shower and no toilet roll holder. Trying to reach for the loo roll behind you, was awkward.

The room rate is excellent and the room was quite large. Good lighting, no waiting for the hot water to come through, wi fi good, the heating was very good, tea and coffee facilities plus a work surface. I was very happy with the room. the staff are nice and reponsive. I wouldn't avoid this hotel.

what they lose on price for the room they make up for in the restaurant. If they discounted the food by 30% then that would make it good value. When the room is taken into account then whole deal moves from a good deal to an average one. You did get a morning buffet with cerials and fruit but the cooked meals are on par with Wetherspoons. I got the feeling they cater mainly for group / coach load bookings. The menu is all on one side of an A4 sheet with a choice of 3 starters and 3 mains, no prices are printed on it ( someone has to pay retail and it wont be the package bookings)

Our second stay here . Staff are fantastic and deliver exceptionally good customer service even when flat out with coach parties nothing is too much trouble..Rooms are clean and comfortable and the place is Super dog friendly too .

Breakfast was a disappointment as many items from the buffet section had run out due to coach parties and items and plates not replaced so didn't get full experience of breakfast on both stays. Cooked breakfast was a little over done and very cold too.. Cooked breakfast portions small but adequate, however I can see this as an issue for many guests particularly when buffet items out of stock too .
