very comfortable rooms , exceptional view, superb breakfast with a wide choice.

The access to the hotel up the long flight of steps is challenging for those who have difficulty walking especially with cases. Without our grand daughter who ferried our cases we would have found it very difficult indeed.

The cute, traditional style of the hotel is lovely. The restaurant was handy to have on site. The staff were very helpful. The hotel is around the corner and up the hill from the train station. If you are relying on getting here via train, this location is perfect. Get the breakfast at the hotel- there aren't many options in town (other than the CoOp not much is open in the morning).

Perhaps the fact that this hotel is not disabled accessible is mentioned on Booking.com but somehow I missed it. My mother was traveling with a wheelchair due to limited mobility. I did not realise that there wasn't a lift. She had to climb two flights of stairs. I felt just awful about it. If I had noticed I would have reserved a room on the first floor. The hotel was full, all those rooms were gone when I realised the situation. If you are severely disabled it will not be possible to stay here. A person could get caught out very easily if they weren't aware of the situation.

Staff attitude. Although check-in was supposed to be 4pm - to me very late! - I was upgraded and allowed to go to my large room with great views of the Isles at 3pm. There was no hair dryer in my room, but the charming Brazilian member of staff I accosted found me one. (He should have a bonus!) The bathroom was large but there was no shelf. Breakfast was outstanding. I had continental - lots of fresh fruit salad, cereals, pastries, juices and no hot drinks machine!

Room was very sparsely furnished and had nowhere for me to put clothes not suitable for hanging up. I understand the shortage of staff problem, but I would have appreciated it if the restaurant had been open.

Commanding views from our window and from the terrace, pity the weather stopped us enjoying it very often! The staff were extremely kind and helpful especially when many of us were stranded due to train cancellations but I also witnessed the extra attention they gave an elderly couple with mobility issues who seemed to be regulars, making sure they were OK and not having to go out for their evening meal. The hotel is very homely, lovely seating area downstairs with a roaring fire in the evenings, books and games available and one evening a lively crowd watching the rugby. The continental breakfast was excellent, the cooked not so great, the scrambled eggs were the worst I have tried to eat, left in the bain-marie too long, grey and rubbery- still makes me shudder. Good to have a kettle in the room so we could make tea.

The shower - very hard to control and likely to scald yourself and possibly set off the smoke detector, staff admitted that some of the shower taps were hard to manipulate.

The hotel has a cozy bar and lounge next to the reception. Fiona at reception was extremely welcoming and encouraged us to use the bar despite the late hour. Likewise, the morning receptionist was very welcoming. The superior room was very comfy and featured nice views just like the single room. The location was very near to the ferry terminal.

The breakfast was not the best but we are grateful it was there. We understood there was a staffing problem. There is no lift. The single room was a little too basic compared to the superior one. No fridge.

Location of property, overlooking sea and small isles, quiet and within short walking distance to harbour, bars and restaurants. Layout of Skye studio was well equipped and had everything we needed for a self catering 5 days, decor was beautiful clean and bed very comfortable. It was exactly everything we hoped it would be. Hot tub was great and a lovely way to enjoy an evening after a day of walking.

There was nothing not to like it was very good.

Great location, wonderful views out to Skye, Rhum and Eigg. Extremely well finished, high quality fittings, very comfy bed. We had the Cuillins Suite, and it was perfect. The hot tub on the balcony was icing on the cake.

Staff were all great, the restaurant was in a lovely sunroom. Burgers and chips. Ideal for walkers or cyclists, not so much for those of us who were just there to relax. Lots of great options in Mallaig.

Size of the room and the cleanliness together with the great sea view.

The breakfast wasn't really good enough for £16.00pp in the Winter season. Too expensive for the quality. Really the owners should be offering a small or large breakfast. Small being £10pp Smaller plate perhaps. We didn't see a menu just word of mouth from the Assistant and when for the full breakfast. No Capochino or Expressos only Tea and Coffee offered.

I booked a single room. It was spacious enough with a small window with great view. Location was great. I just stayed for one night coming from Skye Island and had to take the train the following morning so it was good for a one night stay close to the train station (walkable distance). They have a very nice lounge and restaurant / bar where you can get a drink, snacks, food and sit outside with a beautiful view!

You need to take the stairs! So if you are traveling with heavy luggage keep this in mind! Since I stayed for one night, I could leave my luggage downstairs and just took with me the necessary things. Also: if you are walking from the train station or ferry station to the hotel, keep in mind (if you have heavy luggage) that the street is a bit uphill and the accessibility entrance is at the back (not at the main entrance where you'll see lots of stairs).

Lovely Hotel in a Great Location. Upgraded (we were "out of season booking) to Kings Suite which was lovely. Very Spacious and clean and on the ground floor with views.

We booked late October so the Hotel was very quiet and operating with limited services but super friendly staff, great bar and could recommend local restaurants which were open when on one night theirs' was shut. No real problem.
