The deco and mood of the hotel is wonderful. Quirky and old worldly with a modern touch. Staff are always friendly and helpful.

I was advised car park was full even though I arrived early after being advised that was not reservable and allocated on a first come first service. The adjacent public car park was full. There were some empty spaces in the hotel car park but I was told they had been allocated to guests who may have gone out for the day. I am a disabled driver blue badge holder but there were no spaces held for disabled drivers. I would have been happy to pay for a valet car park but tis service was not available.

In the room there was a brown liquid splash of something on the wall by the mirror.The booking site doesn't say the parking is up a road round the corner from hotel and costs 16.00 per night.Breakfast is extra 10.00 for continental and 20.00 for cooked/continental.plus they take 50.00 pounds off your card 'in case ' you have any extras ! Which to be fair is reimbursed when you check out but doesn't say any of that on Booking .com,just says room is139.00 which sounds great then everything else is extra.

The room was nice, a cut above. Decorated in a quirky, homely and comfortable fashion. A fridge in the room was a really useful addition. The room was of a decent size. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. Breakfasts were good with lots of selection, especially on the continental side. The shower was amazing and the bathroom was modern. The area was a little out of the centre, a bit of a walk, and although its in a student area, we had no problems with this. Great pizza place across the road, for an easy evening meal, after travelling. Lots of restaurants and bars to choose from, within 5 mins walk. It is a contemporary modern hotel and a step up from other chain hotels. We liked it.

We don't drive and arrived by train, getting from the train station was hard. We ended up walking and with our cases, it was quite a trek. The small touches in cleaning the bathroom could be better, a build up of dirt around the door frame wasn't great. No fan in the bathroom, meant it got very steamy. The restaurant got very busy for breakfast, with table turn around not very quick, so we wanted to sit in the window, but the table had not been cleared. Breakfast was a little hectic and the lady welcoming people seemed a little run off her feet, two or three people able to welcome would be better and make her life easier. Overall not much bad to say.

We really liked the city location, we were able to find all the places we wanted to visit easily from the hotel. Our room was lovely . Everywhere was clean and fresh and the bed very comfortable

The staff we met were pleasant enough but, we felt, not outwardly welcoming. We felt awkward sitting in the restaurant on our first night and no staff said hello or came to take our order. We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time.in fact we felt so awkward we left after fifteen minutes and ate elsewhere . I hope this was just an unfortunate moment for us all , as the staff at breakfast next day were really nice and friendly.

The room was very spacious, even with the addition of a single bed for our son. The bathroom was spotless with a full-size bath and a walk-in shower. The room had everything you could need and felt like we were staying at a much 'higher end' hotel. The accommodation is 5 minutes walk from the centre of York and there are plenty of smaller shops and restaurants on the doorstop. Breakfast was delicious and the choices were wide and plentiful. The main positive for us were the staff - all were friendly, polite and worked hard. I would highly recommend this hotel and would like to pass on a huge thank you for a fantastic stay!

Price for parking for two.nights was £30 - a little steep.

Great location, rooms were modern and clean and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was fabulous, lots of choice on the cold buffet and hot breakfast freshly cooked when ordered which was delicious.

Parking was misleading. Advised on booking it couldn’t be pre booked and was allocated on first come first served basis. We arrived at the car park at 12:30 and there were 4 spaces. I called the hotel to ask if we were ok to park as check in wasn’t until 3pm but was told it was fully booked for the evening. I explained we had found a space but was informed that would belong to another guest who may have gone out for the day. We managed to get a space on Pool St car park which was next door which worked out fine but I do think the parking policy needs to be explained better.

The bed was massive and so comfortable. Plenty of soft pillows. The room was okay. Everything you need for a few days away. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice bar downstairs to have a night cap. Breakfast was just Okay.

The room was a Double Premier King. It certainly didn't feel premier and the only thing King about it was the bed. (Maybe that's why it's called a King room?!). It was very compact. The room was small as the huge bed (Although, very nice) took up most of the room. The bathroom was also VERY compact for a premier room!! I actually asked reception if we were booked in the correct room!! 😕 We had a fridge with two cartons of water and that was it. The milk came in cartons which was a shame as we could have had fresh milk in the fridge. Nothing premier about this room, we were quite disappointed!! (And it wasn't cheap to stay) 😥 Breakfast a bit expensive but you can eat alot if you wanted to. Car parking £30 for two nights!! We enjoyed York as always.

Very central location. 20 min walk from train station. Walking distance to the several attractions – The shambles, Jorvic centre, Clifford’s Tower, York castle museum, The City wall plus several restaurants. Also both tour buses have a stop 2 mins from the hotel. Nice room with big and very comfortable bed. Room cleaned well and bathroom towels changed.

Nice room however lighting poor. Need the option of at least 1 brighter light in the room. No instructions re how and when towels are changed. Breakfast -run out of bowls or small plates – slow in replenishing. Also on being seated you are asked for your tea/coffee order which comes sometime after or just before you food arrives. Food is good, staff are friendly and rushed off their feet but need to speed up coffee tea service or get more staff

Nice location close to city centre

1. A towel in my room, whilst clean, had a nasty looking mark on it. 2. There was no shower gel in the dispenser. 3. The safe did not work properly and a member of staff had to reset it. 4. The phone did not work and a member of staff had to reset it 5. There was no QR code provided in the room which a member of staff said should have been there. 6. The toilet seat was dirty on arrival 7. On checking under the bed when leaving the corner of the bedroom by the bed and window was dusty. 8. I received an email from IHG hotels to review my stay and submitted my review with all the above points but have not had the courtesy of a reply.
