Room was clean and comfortable, with plenty of amenities. Bar and restaurant on site were excellent and the location of the hotel was within walking distance of most of York’s tourist attractions. Reception, restaurant, bar and cleaning staff were very friendly! Good value for money for the room. Car park also had plenty of space and was a lot cheaper than other nearby options by a significant margin. Would certainly consider staying here again if we returned to York.

The room safe did not work upon arrival and despite two requests from reception staff to maintenance, this was never fixed for the duration of our stay meaning valuables could not be safely stored. Our room only had a small window also, meaning it was very difficult to get natural light into the room but this is did not significantly affect our stay. Breakfast was on the expensive side for what was offered.

We like the location, lobby and breakfast, view from the room over the river, we were allowed to leave our bags before checking-in so we could enjoy day of sightseeing, love all the toiletries being from The Ritual brand, which i absolutely love.

Lack of information about how the pool session actually work, only 30 mins per slot. Dirty sauna and pool floor, looked like there was no regular cleanings with yellow hairy water sitting on the bottom of the sauna room, had to come out to ask about towels even though staff member let us in into the pool area. Uncomfortable sofa bed in our room, it was 3 of us, so on of us had to sleep on the sofa, one flat pillow was provided and very uncomfortable click clack sofa to sleep on. No third cup for a hot drink in the room either.

Gorgeous hotel and the family room was fantastic

The hotel is lovely, in a great location, very family friendly. The only problem was that when I arrived at breakfast I was accused of not having paid for breakfast on my booking (which I absolutely had, I paid it upfront on checking in the day before). I was asked to go back to my room to get my phone to show them the transaction on my online banking - I felt like a criminal! Then it was deemed that yes I had paid, but it left me feeling embarrassed and a bit stressed out. I get that you must have chancers trying it on, but please check before making accusations to innocent customers! :(

The property’s location was great, had a car park which was good. Didn’t get chance to use the pool unfortunately so can’t say anything about that. The staff seemed nice. The room was large and comfy, I’d say good value for the price. Travel cot was in the room with a sheet and extra towel for my son as I’d requested. Breakfast was really nice.

Car parking was £17 on site which seemed a bit steep. Breakfast in the morning cost £36 for the 2 of us, £18 each which seemed steep but it was good food. Coffees at breakfast weren’t great. Room was slightly grubby but I am a cleaner so I pick up on these things, there was some dirt in the sink, the carpets were stained and there was a ball of hair on the carpet, sides weren’t the cleanest, dust and grease marks. Seal on the shower door was broken so the door didn’t shut properly.

Car parking facilities at the hotel. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Swimming pool and sauna were excellent. Really liked the set times for use.

Only issue, as I booked the hotel through booking.com my check in time was 16:30. Whereas if I had of used the Accor website and became a member, check in time would have been 15:00. The daft thing about this is to become a member doesn’t cost, so really don’t get this difference tbh. I looked at booking this hotel before Christmas and it would have cost 3x as much as I paid. If I had of paid that price I would have been really disappointed.

The swimming pool and sauna facilities were a lovely bonus. The receptionists and housekeeping staff were very friendly.

- No dressing table or mirror above desk area to get ready. Had to dry/style hair on edge of bed using bathroom door as a reflection. - USB ports faulty (when stood looking at the bed its the ones on left hand side). As we were leaving a handyman did come to look at them but this was as we were checking out. - The room requires more coat hangers. - We received a phone call the same morning as check in to upgrade (at a cost of £60) but then offered free upgrade on arrival. Although we didn’t take up the offer of the upgrade we found it very cheeky to do this and request extra money when it was offered free anyway. I doubt if we had took up the offer we’d get it refunded back.

All the staff were amazing, even the cleaners - everyone was so lovely. The beds were really comfy and despite the amount of people in the hotel the rooms were quiet. It’s a short walk to the city centre/all the attractions. Breakfast was nice - good variety of food to suit everyone.

None of the charge points worked by both sides of the 2 beds OR by the table by the t.v. The safe was broken with a stray screw infront of safe - so unable to use Very high step up over bath for shower/bath - was v.difficult for my elderly Mum BUT also hard for me as a much younger person

Great location. Only a 15 minute stroll into the city centre. Carpet in our room had some small areas of staining but other than that the bedroom was spotlessly clean. Comfy bed. Quiet. Clean bathroom. Toiletries supplied. Excellent parking facilities and being able to keep your car in the car park upto midnight on your check out day was an absolute bonus - it adds another day to your stay. We have already booked to stay again.

Reception area was a bit chaotic. It was Halloween so the hotel was busy. Due to the position of the reception desks so near to sofas etc and the front door, when reception was busy at check in and check out times it was difficult to make your way through the queues to get back to your room.

The location was fine, loved the river walk out the back and not to far into the city via the river walk. We only discovered this on our last day sadly! we were taking the streets out the front to get into the city which is much longer. The hotel was lovely, nice pool, clean room, comfortable bed and pillows!! I didn’t hear any noise from my room, that was a huge bonus! Slept very well, room temp fine. nice shower. Staff friendly and helpful. we didn’t have breakfast, so can’t comment but it looked nice. I loved it and would stay again.

Nothing not to like

Swimming pool and breakfast were excellent. Hotel left a thoughtful (and much appreciated) treat in our room for the wife on her landmark birthday break. Fantastic location with easy foot access to York centre along riverside. Friendly staff.

£17 per day car parking fee (which having chosen this hotel over others because of the car parking fee, I was a little miffed by). Strange swimming pool access system through reception in half hour blocks, worked in our favour, but was relatively restrictive still. Price at the bar for a pint was astronomical.
