The location is excellent, and the accommodation is wonderful for the price. It is very clean and cosy. For a weekend stay I would definitely recommend this B&B.
Only minor things that could be improved! There was not much room to move around in our room as there was a lot of furniture. If one less chair was in there then there might have been more room to get into the ensuite without banging your elbows on the curtain hook in the wall. Bigger towels would be great, they were quite small. And a better kettle in the room, it takes a very long time to heat enough water for two brews.

The Farthings was such a peaceful and charming spot to stay in York, really kept with the picturesque vibes of the city. The room was well-equipped and really beautifully furnished, the breakfast was excellent with great varied options, and it was in such a quiet location. I really felt like I could kick back and relax there after a long day of exploring the city, just like I do at home!
Was a 15 minute walk from the station and with luggage just a bit far! You could hear the other guests as they came up and down the stairs and entered their rooms (unfortunately was at 1am one night) but it wasn't overly intrusive.

The guest house itself was comfortable. A little dated with chintzy clutter everywhere, but it did add to the charm. The entrance hall was beautiful. I would give my right arm for those tiles. Standard facilities such as kettle, TV. All worked. Signal to TV was great. Breakfast was great. I cant eat meat (not a vegetarian. I have dysphagia from cancer treatment) but there were lots of options. I only needed ask. The distance to the town centre was a bonus And it was a stones throw from sainsburys local too. En suite was spacious, great water pressure in shower. Bed large and comfy. We were asleep before 10pm both nights. Evidence of dogs chewing the blinds made me smile. Pity we didn't get to meet her rescues. But we get rescues can be nervous, we have them ourselves.
No fan or hair dryer. Both of which we really could have used. Towels a little small. The bath towel I'd use as a hair towel. So if you need a big towel, bring one. Shower a little dirty around the bottom of the door but nothing a quick squirt of bleach won't fix. Road a little noisy. We had to have windows open because there was no fan. That room was warm! I'm nitpicking though. It was a lovely guest house. We would return.

The staff were amazing. Helen went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Everyone was so friendly and polite. The Extra- special touch for our anniversary was wonderful. The accommodation was beautiful, cosy, and very homely. Our room had everything we needed and more. The bed was so comfortable. We had a seating area to relax after we had been out for the day. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and cookies were always topped up. The breakfast was exceptional. Fantastic choice. The location was great. Within walking distance of the city attractions, wonderful, parks on the way, We would highly recommend and will be definitely returning. in the future.
We have no complaints at all. Everything was wonderful.

The hotel is spotlessly clean, parking was just outside on the street, and wasn't a problem. Our room was a perfectly good size, plenty of storage, extra blankets and pillows in the wardrobe, but we didn't need to use them. Bathroom is small, but adequate, shower was lovely. There's a hairdryer available and a pot with cotton wool pads in, and a cloth to remove make up. Room was lovely and warm after being out all day. Breakfast was delicious, plenty of it, full English, Toast, cereal, croissants, fruit and yogurts and fruit juice, tea and coffee. Was offered more toast too and the stdf where all lovely. Would definitely stay here again, its about a 10-15 min walk into York.
Nothing.

The Farthings is well located about 10-15 minutes walk from York railway station and about 20 minutes walk to the city centre. Check-in was easy, using a pre-advised key-code system quite widely used nowadays. The room was more than large enough for the two of us and although we stayed in the fabled 'tiny shower cubicle' room, it wasn't a problem, as we tend to shower seperately... :-) The room was clean, with tea/coffee-making facilites, TV, plenty of storage space and an alarm clock. The bed was really comfortable and despite facing out onto the road, the room was very quiet. Breakfast was wonderful! A really good choice of fruit juices, cereals, fruit etc. with fresh coffee/tea and a brilliant cooked breakfast! Absolutely faultless! Given the price of the stay, there is absolutely nothing to complain about! Yes, the decor is a bit dated, Yes the shower is a bit small but you 100% get what you pay for. Helen is a lovely hostess, who really takes an interest in her guests and really seems to want to ensure their stay is as comfortable as possible. Would definitely go back!
Nothing really - given the price, it fulfilled expectations...

Location was perfect a nice flat ten minute walk into York. You come out very near Clifford Tower. Parking at the Farthings was excellent got a space right outside the premises which is a bonus in York make sure you contact Helen to arrange the parking as it is digital and she books it for you Nice shops near the B&B with a few nice restaurants too. Helen was lovely very friendly the Farthings has a very homely relaxed feel about it. Great breakfast, cereal fruit and a cooked breakfast too and using fresh local produce.
Breakfast timings are a wee bit early between 8 and 9 am but not a big issue. The bed was a bit soft but that's just me I like a firm bed. Shower cubicle is a bit small but ok for two nights. Premises very clean. Owners very helpful.

Everything, We will certainly be using this for all our future visits to York. Owners were so friendly, we arrived at 11.30am and were able to go straight to our rooms. Breakfast was fabulous. Location is a lovely brisk 10minute walk into centre passing plenty shops and bars / cafe bars on the way. Free parking when you give in your Reg. Beds and rooms cosy and homelike, even though a shared bathroom, this didnt cause a problem one bit, loved our stay and will be booking for next year for a yearly trip to York thankyou

It was easy to check in and parking outside (via permit) made it really convenient. Room was lovely and equipped with kettle, TV, hair dryer, sink and plenty of storage for clothes. We had a shared bathroom which was very clean and easily accessible. It was easy to request more towels or tea and coffee if needed. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice - you certainly didn’t go hungry! Staff were lovely too. It was a short walk into York but lots of restaurants nearby if you wanted something quieter! Would definitely stay again!
