We loved this place! A real treat for New Years. The hotel is amazing and secluded with beautiful lake views (look out for Juancho the crocodile). The pools are perfect and kept super clean. The rooms were lovely with a hot shower! We ate at the restaurant throughout our stay as it’s quite far to go to Isla de Flores for food. The breakfast buffet was very reasonable with lots of options. Our main server Luis was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this beautiful place. A great place to stay before a tour of Tikal as it’s a little bit closer than Isla de Flores

The breakfast was very good. The table settings were lovely with incredible views. Very clean! Quiet excellent service and good food!

There weren't a lot of people staying there at the same time. We had a late flight and asked to have a later check out but had to pay extra. I was disturbed with that since that room could have been cleaned later since they had many unfilled rooms. This hotel had a problem providing more pillows for us too. To accommodate us they could have taken 2 pillows out of another room. I wish they had informed us about howler monkeys in the area. First time I heard the sound! It was a little scarey to hear the sound! I was glad they had phones to contact the front desk, etc. The beef prepared there was very tough to eat. They had a delicious infusion tea though.

Excellent hotel to get away from it all - a beautiful place on two lakes, with trails, activities, a lovely pool and facilities and a great restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helped us with everything we needed. We saw incredible wildlife exploring the surrounding jungle. We ended up not leaving the hotel on our stay in Peten!

Transport to get there (if you're not on a group tour, like most other guests were) is very expensive for local prices but you have to rely on it as the hotel is in a remote area, and the tours they offer are over $100USD PP, so it is really aimed for foreigners, whereas we live locally and this is way above prices you can get outside of the hotel so it wasn't accessible for us.

It’a a beautiful spot, you can have very good dining while overseeing the lake. You can see the crocodiles while you are on the terrace. Food was very good, nice pool. Room with airco was comfortable.

The biggest problem is to travel to and from Flores. For some reason, all taxi drivers charge 200 quetzal (24 euros) for a one way drive of 18 minutes. There is nothing in the neighborhood of the hotel, so you need a taxi all the time. This is also a problem if you travel by public transport: they all arrive and leave in Flores.

Beautiful place, the room was.nice, the staff were great especially the restaurant staff - thank you for.all your help. We loved the pool and the nature around. This was a great place to begin our journey to Peten.

The hotel is very isolated and this makes it beautiful, however it also means that the hotel charge a premium for travel to and from the airport and to local sites. We were quoted 100 dollars to get to Tikal which seems extreme when we were able to get a private transfer from the airport for 50 dollars. It's a shame as you end up feeling that you have been taken advantage of due to the remote location. Be aware that staying here, although prices look reasonable when booking, quickly add up when you don't have your own transport.

This hotel was fantastic. The staff were welcoming and informative when we first checked in. The rooms are very spacious and have a good view over the lake. We managed to spot some monkeys when we first walked to our room and one morning we spotted a crocodile in the lake next to the restaurant. There is a fan in the room as well as air-conditioning but we found the fan to be sufficient. The grounds of the property are huge and the hotel feels very exclusive and relaxing as it is not in central Flores. They offer a car service to and from Flores as well as the airport which is much more affordable than a local taxi. The breakfast buffet was great with a good variety of items to choose from. There is a mix of typical local dishes as well as western style items. Dinner options were also great.

Amazing surroundings, helpful and friendly staff, and nice outdoor pools

Expect the shower water to be lukewarm, make sure that you do the laundry somewhere else as the prices are high, and communicate with the hotel about your arrival time and how to get from the airport to their place because there is no official taxi in the airport and you will need to negotiate your fare.

Very nice room. The hotel is located in the jungle next to a lake with a beautiful sunset at night. The hotel crocodile is very cool and we saw multiple iguanas on the premise. Staff was very friendly.

The location is very tranquil but also very remote. If you want to do a Tikal tour only the more expensive tours will pick you up at the hotel. For the others you first have to drive to Flores which is quite costly.

We stayed here after 3 weeks of backpacking, and this was the perfect place to stay to relax and recharge before our flight home from Flores. We really enjoyed being in nature and exploring the local walking routes within the grounds. The beds were very comfortable and the food in the restaurant (dinner and breakfast) both very enjoyable. I also liked the checkout at 12 meaning we could chill at the pool before our flight home that afternoon

The only complaint I have is that they do not state on booking.com that you need to book your hotel shuttle 72h before you arrive. We made our room booking 48h ahead and therefore they could not arrange a shuttle for us, leaving us in Flores tired and unsure what was a safe option to reach the hotel (it is in the middle of nowhere) after a 9h bus from Caye Caulker, Belize. Luckily we got something arranged with another private company.

The Villa Maya resort is really nice, spacious rooms with a fridge but no hair dryer, nice pool area (water was quite warm because of the heat during the day) and ok restaurant with surprisingly fair prices – considering the level of the hotel.

The resort is quite far from Flores and you need to take a taxi to get there. Tour to Tikal is possible from the hotel but it is insanely expensive – it is better to book with some Flores travel agency. Anyway be aware that travel agency will not want to pick you up in Villa Maya unless they would charge you more money. Therefore you have to count with extra costs for traveling around.
