Our overall stay was good, the room rate was decent but breakfast was not included. The property location is in the middle of nowhere which is perfect for northern lights viewing. We stayed for two nights of which the second night had higher KP index, so we saw northern lights right from the private balcony. We slept the entire night with drapes open and staring at the pretty lights right from the window on a cozy bed. Loved the stay!!

Breakfast was not included in the rate and $18 for per person felt expensive.

Beautifully located in the vast middle of Icelandic nowhere. Great view. Standard breakfast buffet and the a la carte restaurant serves good food with friendly service. Our triple room was a bit small, with no real space to put your luggage, but they were redecorating rooms with a nice solution to that problem. Beds were very comfortable. The sink in our bathroom didn’t drain upon arrival and the doors of the shower cabin were really dirty on the lower part. When I reported it, it was dealt with adequately. Furthermore you’d expect the room to be a bit more luxurious for the nightly rate they charge.

Hygiene could be better. Triple rooms are small.

This hotel is very near Katla Geopark, Skaftafell, Vatnajokull, Jokulsarlon and the Diamond beach. For us it was a great option since we had excursions near that area, so it was a very easy decision. The room had an amazing view and the room also had a back door where you could step out and just admire the scenic view of mountains and snow (in our case there still was snow outside). I must say we were upgraded because I let them know this was my honeymoon trip! They were so nice at front desk and providing this sweet gesture for our Honeymoon in our room, we had 2 small bottles of wine, and a very nice post card congratulating us. This was the only hotel of my 14 day tour around Europe that did this nice thing for us! So a BIG thank you for that! Another thing, I want to give a shout out to Paul at from desk! As we were driving from Reykjavik, I emailed the hotel to prepare dinner boxes for us before the kitchens close (9:30PM), and when we arrived he immediately told me the boxes were being prepared as we spoke! Just excellent service, I'm so thankful! HUGE Thanks to the team involved!

I loved everything, I just want to mention that we did notice that perhaps the bathroom wasn't very well swept..?? Like I could see tiny pieces of like dest, hair.. To be honest it didn't bother us, because everything else was spotless, just that little detail.

Hotel Fosshotel Nupar kalfafell is a hidden gem amidst nature's beauty, offering a serene escape surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. The well-appointed rooms and prime location provide the perfect setting for witnessing the mesmerizing northern lights. Additionally, the sumptuous breakfast spread and the genuine warmth of the staff elevate the stay, creating unforgettable memories for those seeking tranquility in the heart of nature. During my visit, we experienced exceptional service from the front desk staff, especially night shift. staff When a minor issue arose with our room's lights, a staff member promptly sprang into action, demonstrating remarkable dedication and efficiency. Moreover, he had resolved our room heater issue when he addressed that our room was not getting heated up as the heater wasn't on, as the temperature outside was freezing. Staff swift response not only resolved the situation but also underscored the hotel's commitment to guest comfort and satisfaction. Though the triple sharing rooms were smaller in size, the serene location made us forget about any space constraints, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of our surroundings. Our stay at Hotel Fosshotel Nupar was nothing short of magical, thanks to its idyllic setting, impeccable service, and unwavering dedication to guest satisfaction.

The food was great. The staff were very accommodating. The view of the glaciers was a bonus.

We could not do any washing. It is hard to find accommodation with laundry facilities in Iceland. Plan your stays in Iceland carefully with this in mind when booking accommodation. It is not close to any shops or restaurants, so if you want these, then this property is not your best option. We loved the peace and solitude of the location as well as the stunning views.

The location is really great, close enough to the main road, but with a feeling you're more remote due to the surroundings. Great restaurant, we had a very tasty dinner and breakfast was quite good as well. Good size room, with the ability to step immediately outside to the "wilderness" from an external room door which was convenient to search for the lights and come right back into the room.

Nothing major, just the scrambled eggs at breakfast really need some improving, really not tasty which was a bit of a bummer.

We stayed on our honeymoon and we had the best time. The view from the room is gorgeous and the room is really nice and modern. Looks better than some hotels with more stars we stayed in. The team gone extra mile to make us feel special and there was a little plate with sweet treats and congratulations card in our room. We also had dinner in the restaurant, they have happy hour 4-6 and the food was great too.

The staff were really nice.

The beds were really narrow (maybe 80 cm) with a big "duvay" which kept falling off the bed. We had our meals there which were not anything special. Seafood pasta with hardly any seafood. There was very loud music in the dining hall. You could not open the window in the bedrooms. The corridors are VERY long. I think it was expensive considering what you got. The hotel had no notice boards on the road. Suddenly we were there.

Shout out to MARIKA who is an incredible team member! I got in really late and she made my start in incredibly warm and welcoming. She’s so fun and personable! Ask her to make you an Icelandic Gin Basil Gimlet. Fantastic! She’s a true gem. Also the property is so serene and well maintained! Nice breakfast selection too.

Breakfast here was very good. The room was also a good size, and the wall of glass looking out to the landscape exceeded my expectations - along with the balcony. The hotel restaurant though perhaps slightly more expensive than other options, was absolutely delicious and worth the money - we had the burger 2 nights in a row! All in all, great place to stay if you're on the South Coast. One of the absolute highlights of the trip was how easy it was to see the northern lights - it was above our heads at one point!

Not much.
