The location is fantastic! Everything is within walking distance. If you are planning to enjoy just the city, you can not beat this location. I found Icelandic culture warm and welcoming but it is an acquired taste. People do not smile and greet like the US but they indeed have the best intentions and are always willing to help you. Please be patient with the staff at the hostel as they go above and beyond to help! Most people at this hostel were younger and party lovers. I also met other amazing solo travelers.
Location is a double-edged sword :) If you are planning on getting a good sleep on Friday or Saturday night - DO NOT stay in this hostel those two nights. This is in the middle of a party town and you will not get a good sleep. Book the hostels that are closer to the big church and they are peaceful. The hostel can improve their cleanliness routine a bit more.

Very nice location in the city centre. Close to Rainbow Street and attractions pick-up locations. The communal areas and facilities are a plus. It's got a toilet/bath in each room
It'd be lovely to have luggage lockers and bunk privacy (like bunk curtains)

Great vibe. Nice hangout area, excellent location if you are booking tours as you wander 2 minutes down the road for the bus pickup stand. Beds were nice (no cutrains though). Bar is also good with deals throughout the week to lessen the cost of expensive incredible rejkavik.
Anticipate this is hostel that everyone is leaving early in the mornings for tours, so lights will go on at 5/6am and people will be making lots of noise. Also everyone is exhausted from the tours so chances of snoring are higher. Brig earplugs and eye masks. :D So if you want to relax, maybe a private is better for you.

Nice place, friendly service and clean rooms and comfortable beds. Great location! Rooms were like you could expect based on the pictures (I stayed in a 6-bed female dorm).
The music coming from upstairs (4th floor) was really loud, it was like sleeping next to a night club. My room was at 2nd floor, I can't imagine how loud the music must have been on the 3rd floor.

You are central to EVERYTHING. The rainbow road and Hallgrímskirkja are RIGHT THERE. The staff are exceptional, hard workers, always able to help with queries or help when the code to the hallway door malfunctions. The housekeeping especially were always so lovely and made the bathroom look gorgeous each day. I truly commend the staff at Loft. They were phenomenal. The hostel has many bins for recycling and plastics and compost and I loved this. The setup for labelling your items in the fridge is outstanding. Room 301 was quite spacious and even had a private bathroom, which I wasn't expecting. (It has 8 beds but there was only ever 6 of us in there. They just have a couple extra beds for emergency situations.) The bed, pillow, and quilt were great! The beds are quite long. I am 185cm tall and I wasn't even hanging off the end of the mattress!!
People not following certain rules, like in the kitchen the signs clearly state to wash, dry, put away. People didn't always do that. It's kind of rude to everyone else thinking you can just do whatever. The staff would then have to come in and do all the work that guests would not, and I don't feel that is fair to them. And because you are so central to everything, the downside is the noise at night, especially on weekends. Neither of these are the fault of the actual hostel, simply worth mentioning. And I kind of expected the noise anyway, given its location.

This was my first ever experience of staying in a hostel and I will certainly be doing it again! The staff were really helpful and gave me advice on what to do in the area, and the rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Everyone was really respectful. Absolutely fantastic location too right at the end of the famous rainbow street, a 5 min walk to the fantastic ocean view, 1 min away from the nearest bus stop, and 1 min from the nearest supermarket. Would highly recommend.
Whilst this isn’t necessarily a negative, it’s more something to note for younger solo travellers. During my stay, I felt like the majority of people staying in the hostel were quite a lot older (at least 10-20 years) than I was (I’m 21) and therefore I didn’t quite have that opportunity to make those hostel friendships. However, that’s nothing against the hostel as there are plenty of opportunities to socialise as they put on events/activities in the evening. It also may have just been my luck and the timing of my trip.

i had no idea when i booked that this was LITERALLY the centre of town, made it so so easy to get around, loads of things to do, shops and place to eat. it was really cosy, comfy beds and you could control the heating in the rooms. he cafe/bar/lounge was really nice to sit in and hangout and the balconies were great little places to look out over the city (and watch the skies). they have a great system going in the communal kitchen with food storage and some mornings there were little treats left out for us. would stay here again!
the bathrooms need some serious TLC. basically no ventilation and therefore we've got a little mould issue in the showers (my room did at least) a good deep clean and these would come up a treat! the kitchen was great but a little awkward to use if there were more than like 5 people in there. the coded locks on the doors were also SO annoying to use - when i first got there i had to ask staff for help because i couldn't work it out and it was screaming at me, my room mate had the same experience!

1. Close to the centrum. Everything is walking distance from this hostel. 2. Easy access to room with codes. Nice blanket and bed set up. 3. Common area is a nice place to hang out, make friends and eat food if you don’t want to go out in cold.
1. First of all, wish there was a comfortable pillow and little bigger blanket. 2. There was a storage below the bed but you can’t lock it. Scared to put/leave your stuff behind. Left every time with a hope that I return to the same. 3. I thought it was little expensive than other hostels out there. But given a location it’s at, it’s justifiable.

The hostel is centrally located, making it a great choice in Reykjavik’s pricey hotel market. With restaurants, bars, and shopping nearby, and the bus station not too far away, getting around was a breeze. The interior of the hostel was immaculate, and the kitchen was impressive, especially the “Free” basket where guests could leave items they didn’t need for others. The hostel also had a small library and an in-house bar. I stayed in a six-person room with an attached bathroom, and my roommates were friendly, respectful, and cool. One of them, a frequent guest, told me it was the best hostel in Reykjavik, and I couldn’t agree more. My experience was incredibly fulfilling, and I returned to Canada with warm memories of both the hostel and Iceland.
Some prior instructions. For example: where and how to lock your valuable documents. I carried a lock with me, but later I found out that is not appropriate for their locker box.

Comfy beds, enough space, toilet in the room. Upstairs there is the bar to have some fun. There is full equipped kitchen with a lot of food for free.. in the morning there is also a coffee! The position is amazing, right on the Main Street and near the bus stops for tours ( 3 and 6)
For the summer time - please put better curtains! The ones that they had now allow the light to come in so the sleep is not ideal ( during summer in Iceland is always light, never dark during the night). And is a bit noisy. A bit too much (from outside the room)- i survived with good ear plugs!
