Staff really friendly. Peaceful setting with nice garden, pond and pool. Location was good, short 10-15 minutes walk to the centre, and close to a few restaurants and supermarkets. The rooms were fairly well cleaned and looked out on a nice jungle view with balcony.

Our room was damp and had black mould growing in various different areas. We notified staff who were able to move us rooms but only after our second night out of 4. The fact that the hotel was allowing guests to stay in the room with this mould was inconsiderate to our health. I have asthma and j woke up in the mornings wheezing and having difficulty breathing. The hotel also offered us a free massage as an apology which was a welcome gesture, but this did not fix the fact that this issue happened in the first place. The hotel is closing in November for a month to carry out major works to fix the damp issue so it should be sorted soon, but we paid too much for this hotel considering the issue and lack of comfort.

The property is very authentically Balinese. It situated in central Ubud and backs onto the rain forest. We traveled with a family of 5 (3 teenagers). The property is situated 5min walk for the main street in Ubud. It is lovely and quite, has lovely gardens and pool. The staff were outstanding and helped us with everything. The breakfast is excellent. Way more than we could eat. The on site massage is wonderful and we booked in daily! We also walked into town every evening for dinner (approx 7min walk to the main square) and approx 25min walk to monkey forest.

The bungalows were located within the beautiful, peaceful, and authentic Balinese compounds where the owner and his family reside. Although situated along a busy street, the atmosphere was calming and relaxing once we entered the gate. The pool was clean and we enjoyed our time relaxing and cooling off from the afternoon heat. The staff was welcoming and attentive. The breakfast definitely exceeded our expectations.

Relaxing and quiet location a short walk from main Ubud street, which was very busy. The bungalows are off the main north to south road but as you walk into the compound and through the gardens you walk away ftom the traffic noise and towards the countryside behind. We could hear a river and bird noises, very tranquil. Pretty gardens, a good pool with sun loungers. The staff are great, very friendly and helpful and speak good English so easy to communicate. The breakfast choices excellent and the night before we chose our breakfast time and dishes. We enjoyed the mixed juices and fruit selection followed by either Eggs Benedict or mushroom omelet. The rooms are spacious with a large balcony with furniture and view over the trees and plants behind. A bonus was having a pure water container on tap in our room so we didn't have to keep walking to shops to buy large bottles of drinking water. We filled our glasses and drinking bottles in the room, very convenient and helps reduce plastic waste, a nice touch, the only accommodation on our trip that did this out of 4 accommodations. The staff helped us with local information and booked us a local guide who was very experienced and spoke fluent English. We enjoyed a day touring different villages, Mt Agung, waterfalls and the holy water temple. We packed in lots in an 8 hour tour and leant about Balinese culture.

Even though it is close to the heart of Ubud with lots of eateries and a great salon nearby, entering this property is a shady, quiet oasis. We loved the traditional Balinese garden and architecture, and the breakfasts were outstanding! We loved the special candlelight dinner they provided, the massage lady on site, and most of all our room and terrace that faced a thick jungle with audible waterfall, birds, and beauty. We also had a cool room with a loft area for our adult son. Everything you need is there. Very attentive staff. Nice pool area. They even had a session to teach guests how to weave Balinese offerings and decorations from banana leaf, bamboo, and flowers!

The only thing we didn’t like is the busy street. Ubud has more traffic than it used to.

We stayed in Gunung Merta for 6 nights in Sep 2024. All in all, we loved our stay, it felt like home, the staff were the friendliest ever, jungle view during breakfast is amazing, pool is clean and nice... We loved that the place becomes something completely different than the rest of the hectic city the moment you go through the main gate. Also, laundry service is good and cheap, they have a in-house spa so you can book a massage after you try the free 15 minute foot massage as a hotel guest. Regarding the location, you are within walking distance to the city centre, some eateries and supermarkets. However, due to Ubud traffic dont expect to get anywhere fast. Highly recommend Gunung Merta if you want to stay in Ubud centre.

Only 2 things - the towels seem to have issues with quality or age. Since the first time you use them they get an old and stale smell even if they had a nice smell in the first place. Also, you can order lunch and dinner too but we felt that the wait is quite long, probably because you are the only people in the restaurant at that time and it takes a while to start up the process.

The hotel is almost a hidden temple on the edge of the center, with koi fish pools, beautiful flowers and a pool. Only 10 mins walk from the Ubud palace, but far enough to enjoy the quieteness of the tropical forest around it. The rooms are extra clean, as I had never seen for this price, and enjoy a beautiful view of the nature. The staff is extra friendly and helpful, you get to have your towels and bed linen changed every day. You also get 15m complimentary foot massage, a real treat after visiting the many attractions Ubud offers.

Nothing. Maybe just consider food might take a while to be served as it’s preperade for you in the moment.

You have to walk through lovely gardens and homes off the main road to the bungalows. It’s set back from the main road and, you don’t hear a peep. We had a 3 bed bungalow which meant an added extra room as a mezzanine level. The room was a good size and, bathroom was too. The balcony overlooks the jungle below and, it’s beautiful to see from morning to night. The pool area is very nice and we mostly had this to ourselves. A pleasant stay. The staff are very attentive and even came to our room with a birthday cake to sing me happy birthday. Lovely kind friendly people. We didn’t eat here but there is the option.

It’s about a 20min walk to town. It’s not the property’s fault but feels a little congested.
