It's a beautiful historical building with a fantastic lake view. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the location is suitable for car owners.
The room we chose was too small. We would have preferred a separate room instead of a family room, but that's our misjudgement. There's no elevator in the building (which is fine, considering it's an ancient, beautiful building). We didn't know that our room was on the top floor, so it was a bit tough for us to move our luggage (we had six people). We will suggest eating in the town next to it because there are not so many choices and it is also expensive.

I loved the highland decor. There was a lovely sitting room to relax in during the evenings with comfy seating and beautiful views out over the lovely countryside. Staff were very friendly. Rooms were clean, and the beds were very comfy ( I prefer slightly firm beds, and these were perfect). Would definitely be back.
(This is not the only hotel I have seen this in but....) when you come down for breakfast at 9, why don't you get the same full selection in the buffet as those who dine at 8. Instead fruit options are reduced or there are limited / no pastries left. Buffet needs to be kept stocked for all guests even if the number of pieces are fewer ( I can appreciate the need to avoid waste). Personal preference - I would have liked to see porridge on the menu.

Breakfast was second to none. Not just vegan options but they provided incredibly healthy options at our request. We normally have an overabundance of greens, and they gave us two gigantic bowls of broccoli, in addition to the usual options available: ripe watermelon /honeydew, baked beans, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms, preposterous made with water, tea work oat milk... wow. They also put on the table whole grain toast, vegan butter, strawberry jam, and orange marmalade. And all this included in the price of the family room for all 6 of us! (with teens and young adult kids) Wow. Just wow.
It was all great.

Check in was very quick and easy and our rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. The building is over 100 years old, being an ex hunting lodge, but is well maintained and the rooms are of a good size, we both liked the "old fashioned" key. Dinner in the evening was very well prepared as were the breakfasts, the food tasty and plenty of variety. The hotel manager provided excellent customer service and was very engaging throughout our short stay an excellent ambassador the hotel. Overall this was an excellent short stay so a huge thank you to the staff at the Inch who looked after us so well.
Nothing springs to mind

It’s a beautiful location just a few minutes from town. The view is stunning. The beds and pillows are so comfortable.
Its decor is in need of a mild refresh and the menu is limited; this property could add a couple more items to the menu and replace carpets and repaint and it would make a huge impact. I wish there were instructions for the radiates and electric showers as that’s not something I’m familiar with and I’m sure there are other guests that could use it. I did find a YouTube video to get the shower going.

Beautiful old grand home converted to a hotel with two floors of rooms above the public area including bar, spacious but cozy sitting room and restaurant. Nice breakfast, (didn’t try dinner) friendly staff. Not in the town of Fort Augustus proper, but we walked to a restaurant by the locks, about a mile away. They accommodated our request for some rooms to have 2 separate single beds.
Bathroom was quite small. We were hoping to see Highland cows , as shown on website photos, but they are no longer in the pasture there (July 2024)

Location. We requested a room looking over Lochness. Large bed and bedroom. Breakfast incl. Cooked on request. Delicious dinners. Not cheap, but beautifully done. Had a nice warm bath. Liked the bathpillow provided. Staff were very nice, cheery and helpful. Nice lounge to sit in downstairs. Small bar on premises.
Unfortunately no lift. So once again had to pull my suitcase up the stair wells. There were no comfortable chairs to sit on in the room. We had a bit of a problem pulling the window down once we had opened it all the way up. Couldnt work out how to get it completely closed again for the night! Luckily the staff closed it for us the next morning so the next night was spend more comfortable as the nights were cold here.🙂

Beautiful old lodge in a beautiful location, full of character and attentive staff. The room was spacious and the bathroom had been modernised. The staff were great and very professional, we enjoyed 2 lovely dinners and breakfasts - it was lovely meeting the other guests with a pre-dinner drink in the bar or drawing room and neat casual attire was certainly acceptable. We really enjoyed our stay!
The room was a little tired and the carpets stained but overall comfortable. We stayed in room 7 (I think it was, 2nd room RHS at the top of the stairs), if you like some ‘unusual’ happenings, then this might be the room for you! Still had a good nights sleep 😉

Beautiful rustic chalet in a secluded picturesque location. Very nice lounge area with coffee tables and board games (some chess pieces were missing though). Room was spacious and clean. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic!
Old property - not very accessible for a wheel-chair (we had a kid with a temporary cast and a rented wheel-chair with us. Even tough it was August but still damp and chilly - it would have been nice if fireplaces were burning.

We enjoyed our stay and the country house atmosphere. Our room on the top floor had a view of Loch Ness. Excellent included breakfast. Great staff. Excellent shower.
Our room on the top floor had some sloped ceilings, the closet had peeling paint and peeling wallpaper, this was not a “superior” room, except the excellent view. The better rooms are on the middle floor probably. Arrive early and if you don’t like your room ask for options.
