Perfect location in the centre of Fort Augustus. We were in the Loch Ness family room with a king size bed & 2 good sized bunk beds. Power shower was best we've had on this trip. Well supplied with tea/coffeemaking and also had a fridge. Very comfortable and super dog friendly. Fabulous little terrace for watching the boats travel through the canal locks.
Chef was on holiday for a month so no cooked meals available in the cafe/shop downstairs. Disappointing but we figured they had probably had a very busy summer season and deserved a good break :-) No parking at the venue but we were able to park in a nearby carpark or further along the road opposite (it was fairly quiet cos we were visiting towards the end of the season but I imagine it gets very busy in summer)

Straightforward entry through the door with a passcode and up the stairs to our room. Again another passcode and all worked perfectly. No reception staff. The room was beautiful and very clean and a huge big bathroom. It was a family room but we were just 2 friends needing a bed for one night as we were walking The GGW. Lovely large balcony with great views of the Locks at the start of Loch Ness. Can't get any more central than this, we were a stones throw from the pub where we had a great meal and drinks. In the morning there is a cafe just below. I also had a great 8 hour non stop sleep, beds were super comfy 😴 The room had a small fridge and was very spacious. I'll definitely be back with my family to stay here. Thanks
Nothing. It was perfect. Although after walking 25 miles on the day of arrival the stairs up to our room was a bit daunting. If you have CCTV it may be quite amusing.

Location excellent Staff friendly and helpful
Nothing wrong with where we stayed however the breakfast arrangements with the coffee shop below the rooms is not that great. Breakfast cafe opens at 9am and we found this to be pretty late as we wake up quite early. The staff is late in opening the doors for breakfast - we had to wait until at least 9.05 for them to open. And on our second morning they refused to cook anything not even a bacon roll never mind a full Scottish breakfast . They said they only serve what was available on the counter and that wasn’t much choice which meant we had to choose between croissants and cakes.

Located adjacent to the Caledonian canal and river side in a beautiful location within walking distance to Loch Ness view point. There are shops and pubs within walking distance. The room was clean and the bunk beds were comfortable. It is not a hotel but more of a hostel and value for money for what they offered.
We were late for checkout by 15 minutes and the housekeeping lady was already inside the room before we moved out. :-D It gave a feeling that we were pushed out, though no complaints because we were a bit delayed in checkout. We didn't had breakfast there, but felt they were very costly.

Set in a beautiful location with a balcony overlooking the water ways. Our room had the balcony, big freestanding bath, very small shower and exceptional views. Breakfast wasn't included but you could pre order and pay for one downstairs in the information centre. We did this and found the Breakfast to be excellent. Be careful when it comes to eating in the local area, not many nice restaurants in fort augustus. Overall a very nice stay and would recommend to others. We wouldn't stay again purely based on the late check-in. We think 16:30 is far too late to check-in.
Late check-in at 16:30 is not good. I don't think I have stopped anywhere with such a late check-in. This was a big issue for me and my wife so much so would put us off staying again. The shower was too small for me. I am on the bigger size and think the room would be better off with a bigger shower cubicle.

Location was excellent. The cafe not opening until 9am though meant it was quite late to have a breakfast, particularly if you are an early riser. Apart from the Petrol Station which has a Spar supermarket and opened at 8am no where else opened before 9am. Would recommend the Lock Inn for food in the evening. Good location and excellent food.
Room was very clean and comfortable. The light in the room though to illumuniate the door in the room during darkness, I assume the emergency light, was far too bright. Very difficult to sleep due to the luminous green shining in the dark. Ended up buying an eye mask from a local shop!

Easy to find the building. We asked in the shop about parking and how to access the rooms. (Parking in road opposite and door to the rooms to the left of the building). Room exceeded my expectations. It was exceptionally clean, beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of room. The addition of a bath was much more child friendly, and the place was warm and cosy. The weather wasn't great whilst we were there, but we did love the view over the canal with a hot chocolate. Having tea/coffee facilities was great and meant we could have a slower morning. The housekeeper (Liz) was so friendly and helpful. Letting us know where to eat and generally keeping an eye on the place. She is a big asset to the place.
Nothing wrong at all

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Lock Chambers! From start to finish, everything was perfect. Check-In: The self-check-in process was incredibly easy and convenient. We appreciated the clear instructions and seamless entry. Accommodation: The room was spotless and well-maintained. The spacious bathroom was a pleasant surprise, but the highlight of our stay was definitely the shower - it was so powerful it felt like getting a professional massage - a truly invigorating experience! Much appreciated after a long day in the saddle. Location: The central location couldn't have been better. We were within walking distance to a variety of dining options. Whether we were in the mood for a lovely local pizza, Turkish kebabs, or just a pint at the pub, everything was conveniently nearby. Host Communication: Communication with the host was excellent. They were responsive, friendly, and provided us with all the information we needed for a comfortable stay. Overall, we highly recommend Lock Chambers. It offers a perfect blend of comfort, value, convenience, and excellent hospitality.
If I really have to nitpick, the mattress was a bit too soft for my liking. Other than that, it was excellent.

Very good value for money accommodation in the centre of Fort Augustus on first floor up a flight of steps above coffee shop. Easy parking in lane across main road about 50m to 100m away. Good shower, tea making facilities. Comfy bed. Windows that open wide to get a draft. Modern fittings that are well maintained. Friendly cleaner Hamish does a great job
Balcony wall high so you can’t see much when sitting. Nothing open for breakfast until after 9am in area and our room had no kitchen facility. There’s a bath in the bedroom (as well as a separate en-suite shower room) that felt out of place. I’d rather it was removed and a small kitchen facility put there instead. Bedroom walls a little thin - bring ear plugs

I organize student travel, and brought a group of 13 to Loch Chambers in April 2024. Parking at Loch Chambers, which is run like an AirBnB (there was no staff on site when we arrived), was tricky, and directions to get room keys were a little tricky, but we figured it out. Rooms were very clean and spacious, and beds were comfortable. Showers were hot and we had no issues with water temperature or pressure. Location was great, right above a cafe and gift shop, and in a very walkable part of Fort Augustus. Rooms were easily divided, with good group bed configuration, to allow for privacy between guy rooms and girl rooms. While we were told the wrong start time for breakfast at the cafe, the food was good and fast, and affordably priced. Gift shop was cute! We would definitely stay at Loch Chambers Caledonian Canal again!
Parking was a little tricky and getting keys was a little complicated, but we figured it out. We received info from the property that breakfast started at 10am, so changed our day plans to fit that expectation, but when we arrived downstairs at the cafe to eat, there was a sign on the door saying we could have come at 9am, which would have been helpful--we changed our tour time somewhere else because we thought breakfast wasn't available until 10am and there didn't seem to be other affordable breakfast options nearby. Regardless of this, we would not hesitate to book at Loch Chambers again.
